One goal Kate wanted to achieve is to question not only the largest cartel leader in the world but also the Mexican government. On Kate del Castillo’s journey to interviewing El Chapo, an actor Sean Penn joins along to write an article for the Rolling Stones. However, the interview did not fall onto the actor’s front door step without a little push from Kate. I believe in love.” This is transgressive because she is going against norms and challenging dominant ideologies of getting married to a husband by stating, “I don’t believe I have to be with someone for the rest of my life.” Kate continues to tweet, “Today, I believe more in El Chapo than the governments that hide truths from me, even though they are painful.” In this statement Kate purposefully made this statement to compare the Mexican government to the largest drug cartel leader who owns brothels and sells women equivalent to a pack of cigarettes. The retired DEA agent, Hector Berrellex states, “El Chapo is a violent serial killer and nobody should be honoring him to include Kate del Castillo.” Instead of reading her tweet and noticing that her intent was to criticise El Chapo and the Mexican government at the same time. In “I am Joaquin”, women are represented minimal, unspecific, and stereotypical. The term coined by Gonzales was not inclusive to women. A lack of women’s acknowledgment engagement with the Chicano Movement is present in Gonzales poem. In these lines “I shed the tears of anguish as I see my children disappear” Gonzales gives the impression of stereotypical women (I am Joaquin) . An image of a mother stereotype is depicted instead of an image of women contributing and involved in the movement through activism and organizations. Women such as Dolores Huerta played a vital role in the evolvement of the Chicano Movement however, the Chicano Social Identity is not inclusive to women because women are defined by men. Dolores Huerta was an important farmworker organizer within the farmworker struggles.

Acting as a host, El Pachuco is the spirit of the ideal, defiant Pachuco and serves as Henry’s Reyna’s alter ego throughout the play, intermingling past Mexican culture with the current Zoot Suit culture. El Pachuco serves as a corrective to illustrate the heavy biases that the court and media displayed throughout the 1940s against Chicano people. Through his constant interjections during the courtroom scene, and his final confrontation with the reporter at the conclusion of the play, he points out the injustices that Mexican-Americans had to endure. El Pachuco highlights each point in which the court discriminates or treats the Zoot Suiters unfairly.

The frame itself is a very closed, tight shot; there is no way for the characters to escape and they're left with only confronting each other in this very little space.
