The most fun I have had since I graduated was going to a track day at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA with my car enthusiast friends and cousin. It was a great experience since I had the ability to check all the technicalities of my car before driving it on the track and be part of the General Driver's Meeting in the morning that included some in-classroom time. I drove for a while at the track, but ended up enjoying spectating the more experienced and professional drivers push their cars to the limits. Additionally, I always kept an open mind to experienced track drivers that gave me tips on how to take corners quickly: braking point, turn-in point, apex, and analyze the position and direction of the next corner. After that particular track day, I learned how much brakes and tires wear as well as the importance of checking the essential components of one's car much like checking a patient's physiology before admitting to surgery. …show more content…
For instance, during my term in the learning and memory lab, I made sure all of the equipment were fully sterilized before rat surgical procedures when isolating an intact hippocampus that would be sliced into 20nm sections later on. In the automotive aspect, I have a variety of cleaning and detailing products that I use to keep my car and parent's car as close to a showroom finish as possible. Those who see me spending time washing, drying, polishing, waxing and detailing an auto have suggested that I have a passion for automobiles to be in their best appearance. Being said, I have a vision that I would pay very close attention to detail when interacting with a patient, such listening to their opinions on what they think is wrong and coming to a solution on how to treat the unwanted
The running record assignment provided me with insight on how to effectively assess a student, analyzing and interpret data and consider strategies to address areas of need and/or strengths. The process of giving this assessment has allowed me to better understand and appreciate running records. I understand the value of using an assessment that evaluates a student’s reading ability. The data is vital information that influences instruction and planning.
For example, I noted a nurse who was required to monitor a patient with several intravenous lines, a machine inducing hypothermia, a heart monitor and intubation equipment. This nurse was very fixated on the equipment and monitors to ensure that everything was functioning appropriately and that the patient was remaining stable. This nurse indicated that she was very preoccupied and declined to have a student with her; however, this was completely understandable given the situation but speaks to the contextual influence of this acute environment on the nurse. All the equipment to maintain and monitor these ill patients lead to an environment that required a heightened level of attentiveness and responsibility to ensure that the patients remain healthy and safe. Therefore, interactions among healthcare staff were very focused and relevant to the care being
For anyone, there are time when things are going to change whether the change is planned or not. For military families change and loss often are not planned, and they have no choice in the matter. For any one person or family to move through change or loss it is important to go through the steps of transition, also know by Hall (2008) as the transition journey. The three phases of the transition journey that have their own focus and tasks are endings, neutral zone, and new beginnings (Hall, 2008). Not everyone follows the transition journey exactly, but this is a good example and tool to help individuals and families through the process. The three phases of the transition journey are going to be explained in further detail in this paper.
I had a great day at clinical, where I learned and perfected many skills. I really enjoyed working with my primary resident, answering call lights, and meeting potential second resident. Strengths included communicating effectively with staff (objective 2), implementing strategies to promote, maintain and restore health (objective 4), and demonstrating professional behaviors at a beginning level (objective 6). An example of objective 2, was when caring for my primary resident, the first thing I checked was his oxygen tank level and for any redness behind his ear; that could demonstrate irritation from the oxygen tube. I noticed his oxygen was getting low but wasn’t in the red, refill zone. At the end
The management of knowledge within the context of organizational processes is a determining factor of its effectiveness and level of performance. Hislop (2013) stated, "One of the key distinctions in the knowledge management literature relates to epistemology" (p. 8). In an attempt to acquire an in-depth understanding of key aspects of knowledge management I will analyze a key organizational job position that possesses valuable experience and traits of fulfilling responsibilities. My analysis will include a description of the organization and position, a review of the perspectives and types of knowledge, as described by Hislop (2013), as they relate to the job position, and the challenges encountered in transferring
While on the unit I made sure to use my time wisely, I completed my assessment in a timely manner, advocated for pain medication, checked on fellow nursing students, and kept patient’s rooms organized and clean. Professionalism was also exhibited in my clean outfit, with my hair back, name badge on, nails cut, and appropriate footwear and clinical tools on hand.
I am excited about the prospect of attending medical school. My dream began when I was a child in a rural village in Bangladesh, continued through graduating from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) with a biology degree. Now, I am working in a research lab at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).I have had many experiences that have reinforced my desire to become a physician.
That took the whole spring break to complete. Where we had to wake up earlier every morning and be there until two everyday. Our teacher taught us a range of things from highway transportation system, basic control tasks, vehicle familiarization and so on. The worst part of driving school was the long and boring videos on safety, cars and driving. On the other hand it was very entertaining with our teacher telling us stories about her growing up and some that relate with the lesson we was learning that day. Also, some of the kids in the class was entertaining as while as the teacher was. At the end we had to review and study for the test to pass the class. Where I passed on my first try but was very nervous while taking
I noticed from all the capable people I know that their skills were acquired through hard work, their passion for what they do, and years of experience in their trade or profession. I can 't think of anyone who is born with skills. If you come across people who achieved certain results due to natural ability than hard work, there 's a good chance that hard work has been invested. For example, when I was in school, there were students who seem to breeze through tests and get great results. What a lot of people don 't know is that behind the great results were extra hours spent on self-studying and hours of private tuition that their parents put them through. Another example: when I worked in a research firm, there were people who stood out above others. These were the same people who invested extra time to get their skills right.
When I was young, I could be anything I wanted. A princess for a day? Done. Everything was that simple. My whole world- my whole life was the definition of an idealism. As I was exposed to more of the real world and happenings of real life, my idealistic image seemed to dwindle away. No longer did I possess the adequacy to be a princess. I could not handle the throne much deserve the authority. This analogy, I feel, is fitting for my college experience. Why? There are a few things only time can teach you and only through experience can you remember. The readings Orientation, We’re Not in High School Anymore, and Reading: How to Stay on Top of It along with the illustrations, a smooth ride and an obstacle course, further demonstrate the analogy that there is a great disparity in comparing the idealistic image to realistic happenings.
Introduction Performance management is the process of establishing a favorable working environment for a given organization such that every employee will have the ability to work at their level best to achieve the organizations goals and objectives. Setting up goals, laying down objectives and strategizing on appropriate methods to achieve such goals are the main essentials
This can negatively affect patient-e.g. long waiting. It also mean that if I am not carrying out requirements of my work role I can put in the danger other person. For example: effective cleaning is essential and should be carried out as soon as possible after the instrument has been used to reduced risk of transmitting infection, it is imperative that single use instruments are not reprocessed and reused for any reason, for the same reason (cross infection) I have to disinfect the impressions before they are send off to the lab; I have to pay care to separate waste in the right disposal containers or bags to prevent harm others or
During my work experience at , I was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage. Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks, were the many different types of work an Engineer has to perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I could perform, as a Civil Engineer.
What has been the most fulfilling or rewarding experience you have had as a college student? If applicable, how did the Honors College facilitate or enhance that experience? *
come to one 's mind. All I thought as a little girl was what to play with next. Of course school
