Every single person on Earth including you has the chance to make their name into track and field history and all you have to do, is push yourself and sweat for it. In this essay I will tell you what muscle fibers you have, what event you are good in, and how you can be good at it. Track and field is a competition between everyone in the world, and we can see who the best is in each thrilling event. Track and field is the result of someone's hard training. You should not judge yourself by looking at others, but by comparing yourself with yourself. To become strong, you need to have the perseverance to train. I am amazed at how everyone is born with a special set of genes. These genes can help decide your event or sport. There are two main types of fibers in your leg, they are fast twitch and slow switch muscles. You genes will help decide what type of event you will be good at. Fast twitch …show more content…
For most people, this is for entertainment or to cheer on their country. For the athletes though, it is for many other reasons. Some are for money, fame, exercise, hobby fun, and to represent their country. These are all the reasons why track and field is important, but for most of us this is mainly just entertainment and sometimes you don't need a reason if you're enjoying it. The training these athletes go through is insane, such as waking up early to go to the gym or practicing their event every day. The sweat, the soreness, the times they wanted to quit, they made it through the loud cheering crowds of the stadium because of their perseverance. This is the reason I like track and field so much and picked it as my topic. You have to push yourself, see what type of fiber you have more of and work hard. I also love how there is track and field at my school and I can see what it is like and who is the best at each event. Every year I am excited for track and field at my

Cross country is not a hard sport, contrary to popular belief. People often think that you have to be born with the stamina needed for running four or five miles at a time. There are so many different things people think is necessary, like running sprints, heavy miles or lifting weights and building strength, but in reality these things are minor. Although being physically fit is idealistic, it is not the most important thing needed to be successful because having a well-balanced, nutritious diet, pacing yourself and setting a strategy, and having the right positive attitude can put you in the shape to be a successful cross country runner.
With all these misconceptions and stereotypes towards the track athletes it can be hurtful at times for them because they’re being told blind assumptions which can lead to anger. Though some of the track athletes fit the different stereotypes, they shouldn’t be given these labels for doing what they love because they work and train hard everyday all for the passion of the sport track and field.
Its not quite easy to be a successful track runner. You have to be devoted enough to observe your eating habits, be able to weightlift, and constantly practice plyometric drills. Plyometrics are exercises used to strengthen leg muscles; which can include regular
I signed up to run track in the spring and went to summer conditioning for cross country. That’s when my coaches, teammates, and myself noticed that my running has improved significantly from when I first started. I knew that I had to work hard my senior year to achieve my goals for running. Running is a mental sport. The workouts I had to do were brutally painful and I had stay positive throughout the run because I know the training I had to do will help me during a race.
There are even steps for cross country runners who aren’t as good as everyone else. The most important step in my opinion is to master walking without anyone seeing you. By doing this it lets people think that you hadn’t walked at all so they will think that you have more endurance than you actually do. Next when you do walk, fast walk. That way your pace isn’t as slow, therefore; it makes it even less noticeable that you walked. Lastly don’t compare yourself to anyone else in the race. You are doing what you can do they just may have been running for a lot longer than you. Set a goal of how fast you want to run and really work towards it. A good thing
Perseverance, dedication, and discipline, these are the qualities that have been instilled in me throughout my training. My sport requires failing repeatedly until consistency is found in perfection. Therefore, perseverance proved crucial as I attempted skill progressions and difficult routines. Dedication was essential whenever I watched others miss practice for social events. I didn’t recognize the immediate benefits of my deep rooted commitment until months and years later; now I have applied this devotion to every aspect of my life.
The training in these sports is an enormous difference. In cross country a runner trains by going miles upon miles each day to build their stamina, as a sprinter this is far from my favorite part. This is a sport where an athlete has to have the will to stay true to a course instead of cutting and cheating themselves the training they will soon need. Cross country is a mentally tough sport, an athlete has to have the mindset that they will be able to go that distance. While in track the athletes also train to build their stamina, it is a different aspect they need it for. This is a sport with no shortcuts, but knowing I pushed myself as hard as possible in those short, intense workouts. Both of these sports consist of lengthy stretching to stay as healthy as possible for the real purpose.
The Olympics are supposed to be a time of peace and a time where countries could come together and be free from politics. The Olympics are also a time where nations should put away their differences and celebrate the reason why they came to participate in the games, which was to play sports. Throughout history, many of the Olympics have lived up to this expectation. At the same time, there have also been some Olympics that have not lived up to this expectation because they have been experienced boycotts, political protests, and even violence. The politics in the Olympics need to be kept out because it there is no place for it. The 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow is an example of one Olympics that was not free from politics because of the boycott started by the U.S.
Why do racecar drivers love driving at high speeds, knowing the danger? Why do people climb mountains with minimum gear? Why do people jump out of perfectly good airplanes? Why do cowboys ride bulls? It’s all about the adrenaline, the rush, competing in something that you love so much. For the people who participate in these sports, especially in a competitive level, they grew up with a love and respect for it. For example, most bull riders grew up on ranches, riding cows and bulls was a hobby for them. They became comfortable with these beasts and developed a respect for them. For those who sit on the sidelines enjoying the events, they are often intrigued by the amount of skill and bravery they see in those eight seconds, witnessing
While both our genes and training is responsible for our athletic ability, our genes are more important to deciding our athletic ability. Genes can determine many aspects of our athletic ability. According to the New York Times, “there are many genes that determines your baseline ability and your improvement speed” (Aschwanden). Using sprinting as an example, the article says that some
To be an athlete, one must have the want to become a great athlete. Without practice and work hard, it will show
Ever since I started running, I've never felt stronger than when being on the track. The track is where i found a new passion, where i felt like i belonged. I was told i was too skinny to play football, too slow to run distance, and not skilled enough to play basketball, but not track. Track, being a fast and mostly independent sport has taught me to be the adaptable and confident runner i am today. Some days, practice is a walk in the park
The Olympic Games. The biggest international sports competition in which the worlds’ best athletes compete from all around the world to win medals for their countries. The Olympics have been a worldwide tradition since the eighth century BC, but it has hardly benefited us as a species. Every time we have the Games, our resources are abused in order to create the Olympics we desire. Huge amounts of money are used to build venues and make medals, only leading up to the countries who host the Games going into debt afterwards. There are only rare cases in which the countries earn money from hosting the Olympics, but most of the time the debt that they get themselves into take years, or even decades to pay off. You might ask yourself, why do we even host the Olympics, if it has these huge disadvantages? The answer is because we want pride for our countries, no matter how temporary it is. Knowing this, we can safely say, that the Olympic Games do not help us grow as a species.
Humans are naturally competitive and through athletics this competitiveness can be released in a positive and focused way. Competition is a basic function of nature. Those that can best compete with their environment survive. Those who can’t compete die out. Competition is a powerful drive in all humans. We compete as groups, against our selves, and each other. Sports give us a channel to let this out in a safe way.
