Toastmaster’s speech 4
Be Cheerful
A very happy morning to all of you.
At times I think what is more important in life, to achieve a goal, or to live the journey? My mind is still confused at this topic, but I’d say that dreams are important too, they give you sense of satisfaction. I understood that both the journey and the dream is important, but the end result of the journey is unknown, the dream might or may not come true. Thus making most of our journey is more important. But, the journey often makes us deviate from our dreams and we may end up not achieving our goals at all. This is that one problem, most of us here, knowingly or unknowingly face. And my solution for this is that, I look at my dream, imagine it, cherish it and live it,

Cherish every moment! Remember the time when you used to play lagori or cricket with your friends and the way you cherished your victories. The sense of accomplishment was at its peak even after winning a running race to the end of a street. We all would be so delighted when we saw our favorite dishes being presented to us. The charm of going to a fanny place with family to seemed like victory. Be it watching The Undertaker put down Triple-H or see India win a match, or to get it a bit more personal, to get the remote from your siblings it all became an occasion to …show more content…
Imagine your biggest goal that you have in your life. It may be getting a new house, a Lamborghini, getting married to your love, resolving a fight with or between your loved ones, getting admission in your dream university, or even becoming the head a multi-billion company. Imagine it. Imagine the minutes before getting the final confirmation about the registry of the new house or the car, the final meet about your marriage, the final scream before the fight is resolved, and the final list of selected candidates that has been put up. I know you can feel the rush, will you make it through or no. You would be looking at your past, your efforts to make it this far. You are just praying and wishing for the best to happen. And the time of verdict is here, you may live the dream, or lose all that you had. You can see the mist of uncertainty gather around you. A sense of fear and faith both at the same time. What if I don’t make it, how will I face the people who stood by me? What if I make it and live my dream! With your eyes still closed, you hear that you have made it. Your efforts have paid off. You see the world look up to you with an expression of motivation. Look at the people who you want around when you accomplish that dream. Have a close glace at your mother’s satisfied smile, at your fathers proud face, at your siblings and friends who are waiting to hug you in happiness. Happiness and satisfaction has filled the hot room. And now
People have goals everyday, believe it or not some people think that dreams aren't worth it. I believe that it is worth it to dream because it gives a person a goal, it makes them feel good, and it makes them stronger. I know this from The Pearl, A Cubs video, the Susan Boyle video, and We Beat the streets.
Achieving Dreams and Leading Your Life Recently I read The Last Lecture, a book I would not normally read. In this book, I learned about the life of Randy Pausch, who unfortunately had Pancreatic cancer. In his book, Pausch stated, “ It’s not about how to achieve your dreams.
...t you want to do”. To me, my dreams of “Where I am Going” motivates me as I make different choices in life. These are things I desire as goals for myself
Dreams are not just empty ideas, they give people ambition, and it is the pursuit of that ambition, which shapes a person. However, society instils an illusion about what can be achieved. Dreams can be tied to identity, but they can be good or bad. The Great Gatsby [F. Scott Fitzgerald] and Shattered Glass [Teresa Toten] share the similes in which both main characters dream of finding themselves and reach their end goals, through pressure and love. Both authors imply that dreams should be verified that they are possible before you start following them, otherwise they can ended up deadly.
Getting somewhere is not just the destination, but even more so the journey. The goals are our destination and obstacle and temptations litter the voyage. Like Odysseus, achieving these goals is not a cinch. Obstacles must be faced or avoided, and temptations should be resisted.
There may be pain and suffering but good things will come if you can persevere. A life is not defined from one action but rather from a combination of experience, trial, and failures. This read was very interesting and I would recommend it to anyone, especially to those who can relate to going through trials at this point in their life. Completing your journey is a very important step in your life. Siddhartha achieved his goal to find peace in his life, a goal all of us hope to achieve one
According to Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, dreams are a gateway to the unconscious mind and an individual’s deepest desires (scientificamerican.com 1). The American Dream is about gaining a large success through hard work. Deep down every individual wants to strive to achieve the best at what they acquire. However, not everyone will attain their life long goals. This is evident in The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and There Will Be Blood written by Paul Thomas Anderson. Between these two texts the destruction of hopes and dreams can derive from smaller issues such as the lack of money, the anger and jealousy of others and the disappointment of impossibly high goals.
Through the book, Night, the author conveys the idea that the desire to reach a dream can allow an individual to overcome all their adversity. Whereas, when there is a loss of hope, there is a loss of a goal. Keeping faith and holding on to their dreams are beneficial, for they provide individuals with the strength necessary to keep carrying on all the weight of their pain and sufferings. The desire to succeed is essential if an individual hopes to achieve any dream, whether that dream is as small as passing an exam or as large as surviving in a concentration camp. The power to overcome every adversity lies deep within every individual; one must simply reach inside and grasp it.
Embarkation begins with a choice, and choice is a product of self-consciousness. We have been alive for so long, as has love and anger, resolve and obsession. With the million and one options that fight for our attention in a hyper-society like our own, reluctance can cost us everything. As a society, as a species, progress is our handle, the drive toward better and more hopeful situations is our enterprise. But the drive is also a specific one, localized and partitioned in every individual to find the next best condition. For senior preschoolers to senior graduate students to senior citizens transitioning into eternity, the origin of our motions are the same: the inescapable need to move on as where we are no longer suits us.
“Progress looks like a bunch of failures and you 're going to have feelings about that because it’s sad but you can’t fall apart. And then one day , you will succeed.” (Grey’s Anatomy) It is the law of life that significant events will occur throughout a human’s existence on Earth. We exist, survive, and thrive because we are able to change. With that in mind, I am grateful for all the opportunities that have and continue to be given to me despite my past failures, lack of inspiration and confidence.
...eaning to having dreams as they are worthwhile in motivating, entertaining thoughts and causing satisfaction. Dreams make life sweeter, if but for small instances when we entertain them and imagine and are happy in the fantasy.
“But I think that I am not going to success”.Your rational and fearful mind responds.
Creating and achieving goals are some important things that people want to do in their lives and learn to accomplish or achieve them. The goals can be small, big, long, short, simple, complicated, hard, objective, career, life, educational, professional and it can be for anything such as health, job, work, you, the people that are around you, friends, family, the world, history, culture and advocacy. In order to accomplish or achieve these goals, you need to have a lot of time, effort, proficiency, patience and perseverance. Goals are the ones to be proud of because we are accomplishing them every day you just do not realize it.
Many people believe that leadership is simply being the first, biggest or most powerful. Leadership in organizations has a different and more meaningful definition. A leader is someone who sets direction in an effort or task and influences or motivates people to follow that direction. The power point presentation explains leadership is the influence that particular individuals exert on the goal achievement of others in an organizational context.
I can look forward to it and manage my expectations but happens when something gets in the way? I will never have the answer to “What is the meaning of life?”—but I will have the ability to try. There is a reason why I’m always soul searching to become a better me. It’s because the best me hasn’t happened yet. I will never be the best version of myself but I am always a work in progress trying to reach the ultimate goal. Life isn’t about being successful and leaving your “mark on the world.” Maybe life is about leaving a shadow so one can follow in. Maybe that’s why we’re all here—to try and make it easier for the people to come. My fulfilling life hasn’t been fulfilled yet—the best is yet to
