Pizza? Who doesn’t love pizza? Pizza is often loved by everyone and pretty much ate in any occasion. Through time, it has become a widely popular food. It is commonly viewed as a food that brings people together in harmony in one setting to eat and enjoy. Pizza has always been my family’s favorite for all occasions; whether I’m home alone, having a party, or just hanging out with my family on a Friday night. Pizza definitely brings people together. Although pizza is traditionally viewed as food, in our society pizza can also be used to understand rhetorics that have to do with bonding, culture/lifestyle, and health.
Pizza is often used to bring people together in one setting to enjoy and bond. It is very common to have pizza at parties and sports showings. One example would be the Super Bowl, which is when most pizza deliveries are made. As it is easy to order a pizza and mostly everyone enjoys a slice of pizza. In other instances, people may go to the mall to hang out and have some laughs together as they engage in a conversation while eating a slice of pizza with friends or family. The same may occur after going to a concert or an event, people tend to go eat a slice of pizza after and talk about what they enjoyed the most out of the event they attended. Pizza brings people together in one setting; it creates bonding moments and memories. My family usually orders pizza and we watch movies on Friday nights or Saturday nights. During the week, we are usually caught up with work or school so we don’t have much time to spend together. That being, we use this opportunity to bond with each other while enjoying pizza, which we all enjoy.

...me a lifestyle for many Americans and we are not always aware of this. We consume pizza more than we think and many locations of pizza are around us. It can be considered a huge risk factor in our health, but in reality we don’t realize the huge amounts of fattening foods we consume in general. We don’t usually take time to look deeper on an issue or object and when we do we can realize how much more is within it.

When Maddie thinks of eating pizza at a restaurant, similar to most people, she thinks of Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut has always been known as one of the leading pizza restaurants because it is spread across the country. Almost anyone can say that they have eaten pizza from there before including Maddie. However, there is another pizza restaurant that is starting to shove its foot into the pizza industry. That restaurant is Pizza Ranch. Pizza Ranch has only begun spreading its roots across the United States, therefore, it is not as widely known as Pizza Hut. In Maddie’s opinion, Pizza Ranch is a better restaurant than Pizza Hut because it has some of the many traits that make up an excellent restaurant. The most important reason that Maddie loves pizza ranch is because it is a friendly environment. From the first minute someone walks through Pizza Ranch’s door to the last, guests are treated like family. Another reason that Maddie enjoys pizza ranch is Buffet Your Way. Buffet Your Way allows Maddie to order anything that she wants and not have to pay any more money for it if she is eating the buffet. This is one of the best features of Pizza Ranch that puts it above Pizza Hut. Furthermore, Pizza Ranch always has a clean environment because the workers care about how the place looks. This restaurant also is more efficient about getting food to its customers than Pizza Hut. However, some people might argue that Pizza Hut has better tasting pizza than Pizza Ranch. Although Pizza Hut is one of the most popular Pizza restaurants, Pizza Ranch is a better restaurant because it has a friendly atmosphere, Buffet Your Way, a clean environment, and fast service.

Nutrition and health have become more popular in today 's society. Our generation is becoming more and more indebted to the idea of being healthy and eating nutritious meals. However, in “The American Paradox,” by Michael Pollan he argues that our unhealthy population is preoccupied with nutrition and the idea of eating healthy than their actual health. He also mentions the food industry, nutrition science and how culture affects the way we eat and make food choices. While Pollan is right about all these factor that affect our eating habits, there is more to it than that. Convenience, affordability and social influence also affects our food choices making them inadequate.
Although each subject is from completely different backgrounds, whether they be geographical or religious, they each share likeness in many different aspects of their lives. Showing the similarities as well as the differences in their eating habits can create a cultural map tracing each individuals food choices back to one source. In this case, the source may be the continent of Africa where many of these foods are eaten today. In West Africa, the yam is a very popular vegetable. This just goes to show how food can be the missing link of different cultures throughout the world.
One out of every three Americans is obese and the majority of these obese people in the United States have eaten regularly at fast food restaurants. As the obesity rate increases, the number of fast food restaurants goes up as well. Although it is not certain, many believe that obesity in the United States is correlated to eating fast food. Since the United States has the highest obesity rate out of any country, it is important for Americans to monitor the fast food industry that may be causing obesity. With the pressure to get things done in a timely manner, fast food became a big necessity. However, when creating fast food restaurants, the industries were not thinking about the negative effects such as obesity. Other than obesity, other harmful effects exist as well. Fast food restaurants serve unhealthy products such as greasy foods and artificial meat that lead to dietary health issues in many adults and children. A recent study showed that “Young children who are fed processed, nutrient-poor foods are likely to become unhealthy teenagers, and eventually unhealthy adults. Now twenty-three percent of teens in the U.S. are pre-diabetic or diabetic, 22% have high or borderline high LDL cholesterol levels, and 14% have hypertension or prehypertension” (May, Kuklina, Yoon). The food that they provide is made to be eaten quickly, causing problems for the digestive system. Also, the health problems lead to the use for health insurance, which adds to the costs of Medicare. Health care costs will only worsen an already failing economy. Therefore, the government should regulate fast food restaurants in the United States in order to repair the deteriorating health and economy in America.

Pizza is a dish made of bread dough covered typically with a savory mixture, not with a sweet mixture. Sam Panopoulos, a Greek immigrant, was the man that created Hawaiian pizza in Canada. He and his brothers enjoyed the contrast between the sweetness of the pineapple and the savory flavor of the ham. They named it Hawaiian pizza after the brand of canned pineapple used on the pie. Now, people all over the world eat pineapple as one of the pizza toppings. Founded in Naples, pizza was

I remember it like it was yesterday, as I took a bite out of my first Pizza. I remember the crunch of the thick dough as the sauce hit my tongue and the hot cheese touched my lips and entered my mouth. The 3 components of the Pizza amalgamate to create a delicious meal that I can proudly call my comfort food. Before I started kindergarten, I was influenced by my parents and grandparents to eat Indian food more often, so I can still keep ties with my culture and my Indian heritage. However, as I began schooling, I was keener to try new foods, one of which was Pizza. Now, Pizza has become a part of my culture and has influenced me to explore new tastes. The once foreign American staple food has now become a part of my comfort food or food that can remind me of my childhood and my upbringing. Therefore, discovering new tastes, at a young age, has an effect on exploring different cultures, creating new traditions and invoking pleasant feelings that can last a lifetime.
