“You must promise me you’ll survive” written by Jack Dawson. Jack said this because they were in a life or death situation. In 1912, the Titanic struck an iceberg and less than three hours later it sank immediately. An oceanographer discovered the Titanic in 1985 as part of a US investigation. At that time, the Titanic was the largest ship in the world, and the process of how the boat sank was surprisingly fast. It was just about two hours. No one has seen the ship since September 1985, everyone mostly just forgot about it now or just doesn’t care about it because it happened about 39 years ago. Also the Titanic was never actually described as ‘unsinkable’. It was described by its builders to be ‘practically unsinkable’. On April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic was hit by a massive iceberg and then it sank. At that time, more than 2200 passengers and crew were aboard the Titanic for their trip to the United States. Damaging nearly 300 feet of the ship’s hull, the accident allowed water to flood six of her sixteen major watertight compartments. Also the Titanic ship at that time, was the largest ship ever built in history! After hitting an iceberg, the Titanic broke apart and sank to the bottom of the ocean, and took more than 1,500 passengers and crew. As a result of the Titanic, the people who drowned sank immediately, but the people with hypothermia stayed afloat for weeks. 328 people stayed afloat long enough to be recovered again. Many were identified, then they were buried at sea or they were brought to Canada. The ship was owned and operated by the British White Star Line.
