TInkerbell has lots of different personalities. Just like this quote, lots of sentences with different words and three different meanings. She can laugh, she can imagine, and she can dream. But she can also be fiesty, stubborn, and hot-tempered. In J.M Barrie’s Peter Pan, the character Tinkerbell is dynamic as illustrated by her actions, words, and motivations. First of all, Tinkerbells actions confirm that she is dynamic. When Tink knew that Peter’s medicine was poisoned by Hook she saves Peter’s life by flying in the middle of his cup and his mouth, furthermore drinking it for him: “‘Why Tink, how dare you drink my medicine.’ But she did not answer… ‘ What is the matter with you?’ cried Peter, suddenly afraid. ‘It was poisoned Peter’ she told him softly; ‘and now I am going to be dead.’ ‘Oh Tink did you drink it to save me?’ ‘ yes’’’( Barrie 121). Since fairies are so small, they only have room in their brain for one emotion at a time. While Tinkerbell and Wendy were flying to Neverland, Tink was so jealous about the fact that Peter might like Wendy more than her.: “ The jealous fairy had now cast off all disguise of friendship and was darting at her victim in every direction, pinching savegely each time she touched. ‘Hullo, Tink,’cried the wondering boys. Tink’s reply rang out: ‘Peter wants you to shoot the Wendy.’ It was not in their nature to question what Peter ordered. ‘Let us do what Peter wishes,’cried the simple boys. ‘Quick, bows and arrows’”(Barrie 57). This quote certifies that Tinkerbell is jealous of Wendy. Tinkerbell didn’t have any room for any other emotion so she was couldn’t have mixed emotions, which causes Tink to try and kill Wendy. In an archetypal sense, “The Princess and the Frog” have the same type of characters and other elements just as other fairy tales. For example, Dr Facilier’s many physical traits can be compared to that of Jafar in Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ such as being tall and skinny and dressed up in very linear black and red (Aladdin). Also Dr Facilier’s personality as that of a scheming broker with ‘friends on the other side’ can be compared to that of Ursula and Hades in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘Hercules’ respectively (The Little Mermaid) (Hercules). The motif which includes the Quest in the movie, and characters like Louis, Ray and Mama Odie, learning and overcoming obstacles resulted in the transformation of both Tiana and Prince Naveen, both physically and mentally. One of the main uses of object archetypes in the movie can be Mama Odie’s blind glasses. These glasses shows that Mama Odie is blind. Analysing this with a critical eye, Mama Odie’s glasses are so such similar to that of the blindfold of ‘Lady Liberty’. The irony is that Mama Odie sees the truth and solution to everything. Media makes celebrities seem as if they live life facing no problems or hardships. In reality, they do not live a perfect life, but that characteristic of celebrities' life tends to go unseen. In Charles Dickens’s, A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens develops Mr. Lorry into a character where business engulfes his life. Mr. Lorry continually tries to suppress his emotions using many different strategies. Even though business is always Mr. Lorry’s top priority, he always has a special place in his heart for the people he cares about, the Manette’s. Through the use of characterization and dialogue, Charles Dickens uses Mr. Lorry to promote how humanity overrides one’s business side no matter how hard they try to suppress it.
Abuse is a subject that should be considered important. There are about 960,000 abuse incidents reported annually. 85% of them are reported by women. The resting 15% are reported by men. In Fried Green Tomatoes, abuse is a recurring part of the book, Fannie Flagg does an admirable job in describing in detail the abuse incidents that happen throughout the book. Ruth is a character that receives abuse from her husband, she believes she deserves everything he does to her, even push her down the stairs. She finally takes the decision to escape from the abusive relationship she is in when her near death mother advices her to. Along the way characters develop some effects caused by abuse. People who suffer from abuse may develop fear, low self-esteem, or strength.
There is no doubt that Miss. Strangeworth is not an easy person to deal with, let alone live with, and although her character is fictional, there are many people with the same personality. We can tell quite easily that she is a very meticulous woman, with a lot of perfectionist tendencies, a few of which are to nitpick people’s lives and make sure that even the most minute detail is up to her standards. I know of someone with these attributes and as difficult as they are to deal with, with their list of requirements to be met and their eagle-eye for detail in even the smallest things, they mean the best, and are always trying to help, despite the possible repercussions.
In Great Expectations, Pip is set up for heartbreak and failure by a woman he trusts, identical to Hamlet and Gertrude, but Pip is rescued by joe who pushes Pip to win the love of his life. Similar to Gertrude in Hamlet Miss Havisham becomes a bystander in Pip’s life as she initiates the play that leads to heartbreak several times and she watches Pip’s life crumble due to her teachings. The next quote shows Miss Havisham explaining to Pip the way she manipulated his love Estella to break his heart every time. “‘but as she grew, and promised to be very beautiful, I gradually did worse, and with my praises, and with my jewels, and with my teachings… I stole her heart away and put ice in its place’” (Dickens, 457). This quote makes it clear the Miss Havisham set Hamlet up for failure by making him fall for a woman he could never have.
The characters all retain the heart of their namesakes. There is a cocky playfulness to Pete, and yet he is also easily imagined as a charismatic and fair leader. Bella has Tink's jealousy, loyalty, and cleverness. Gwen is a girl on the verge of becoming a woman. She is also brave, and compassionate. The author is careful to keep their essence but moulds it to create characters that are wholly her own. She allows their circumstances and experiences to shape who they are and this makes them feel all the more real. Captain Hook is, perhaps, the character that is most changed. He's given a backstory that serves to illuminate his motivations.
The Glass Castle is a novel that follows the life of a dysfunctional family from the perspective of Jeannette Walls, the third child of the Walls family. Throughout the stories, the readers see all the hardships the children face, as their lunatic parents do what they think is right. After reading the book, it seems to agree the quote “Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands” by Anne Frank.

In Pearl Tull’s old age, she starts to lose her sight until she is completely unable to see. Pearl may be the only one within Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant who has gone literally blind, but many of the characters are just as blind emotionally. Throughout Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, many characters are too absorbed in their own problems and self-pity to notice the problems of the people around them. Almost all of the characters don’t realize how much their actions may have affected someone else, or are oblivious to the fact they did anything at all. When taking a closer look at the story, it could be said that Pearl Tull is the reason behind all of her family’s problems. Pearl is blind not only literally—in her old age—but metaphorically
Elisa’s character undergoes a complete transformation of femininity, due to her conversation with the tinker. The story initially describes Elisa’s appearance using words associated with manliness, as Steinbeck states, her face is “strong, eager, and handsome,” and her figure is “blocked and heavy” (228). Furthermore, she wears a man's hat, heavy leather gloves, and a big apron that hides her printed dress (228). As a result, she is depicted as a woman with greater masculine qualities than feminine qualities. However, as soon as she encounters the tinker and notices his interest in Chrysanthemums, “the irritation melted from Elisa’s face” (232), and eventually reveals her womanly side. After the tinker left, she “scrubbed herself with a little block of pumice, legs and thighs, loins and chest and arms, until her skin was scratched and red” (236). She then bathes and puts on a dress to make herself look more feminine (237). For the first time, Elisa feels valued and special by the tinker. Our perspective on life can have a significant impact on our life. Depending on how you were raised it can impact your perspective on life very differently than others. For example if you were raised in a home of poverty or drug abuse you are use too that lifestyle when you're young. It wouldn't be till your older you would realize it is not a normal way of life. It shapes our life. In the novel the Glass Castle Jeanette is a perfect example of how your perspective changes throughout life as you experience life in addition to maturing. Her change in life had an unbelievable impact on her life that made her a well round mature adult despite her upbringing in poverty.
Ian is introduced by Strayed in a logical way as she introduces him with his outward appearance first and then uncovers the beauty of his personality to her readers in order to illustrate the natural progression of any relationship. As she begins to tell her personal story about Ian, she introduces him as a “pink lizard” (Strayed 151). “Lizards” are a unique animal, as they are able to shed their tail to get away when they feel that they are in a dangerous situation. (Woolcott). A lizard's ability to lose a part of itself when it thinks it is in danger, ultimately to protect itself, is what Ian does in regards to his love life. Human behaviour, both good and bad is shown through the characters in Maleficent. Stefan shows ambition and kindness, through the plot, setting and the theme power. Maleficent shows kindness, courage and envy, through the theme jealously, the setting and the plot. Aurora shows kindness and naivety, through the theme of innocence, as well as the setting and plot.
I think that Matilda is the most colorful character in the movie. Matilda is very independent for her age, due to her parents’ irresponsibility, and she manages to keep her head up and not let her parents put her down. The young actress, Mara Wilson, does a great performance with her interpretation of Matilda. I believe that she makes the character come to life.
