Hospitals have different disciplines to help the hospital run smoothly. Therapeutic, diagnostic, informatics, support, and biotechnology services all play a crucial role in the hospital. No service is more important than the other. Each one is needed to prevent any problems within the hospital.
Therapeutic services are the occupations that focus on changing the health status of the patient over time, by doing a treatment or assessing the patient. These services are important because they help improve the patient’s well-being. They offer treatments, counseling, and care for their patients. Examples of a therapeutic services are Dentists, Chiropractors, and Occupational Therapists. These jobs, and many others all help to make the patient better again with direct care.
Diagnostic services are the occupations that use tests and evaluations, to determine what is wrong with the patient. These services are important because they discover the diagnosis of the patient. Diagnostic services offer screenings and and exams, like x-rays and ultrasounds to try and find what your problem is. Examples of diagnostic services are Radiologists, Cytotechnologists, and Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technologists. Diagnostic services help find your diagnosis, so therapeutic services can provide treatment for you.

Health informatics are the individuals that handle all of the financial information within the hospital, like the billing, the patient’s personal information, and the health administrators that watch over the health care agencies. Informatics is important because the people handle all of the patient information and billing after the visit. Health informatics offer complete privacy of the patient’s information and somewhere to store health records. Examples of health informatics are Health Services Administrators, Medical Coders, Medical Assistants, Health Information Technicians, and Medical
As the evolution of healthcare from paper documentation to electronic documentation and ordering, the security of patient information is becoming more difficult to maintain. Electronic healthcare records (EHR), telenursing, Computer Physician Order Entry (CPOE) are a major part of the future of medicine. Social media also plays a role in the security of patient formation. Compromising data in the information age is as easy as pressing a send button. New technology presents new challenges to maintaining patient privacy. The topic for this annotated bibliography is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Nursing informatics role is imperative to assist in the creation and maintenance of the ease of the programs and maintain regulations compliant to HIPAA. As a nurse, most documentation and order entry is done electronically and is important to understand the core concepts of HIPAA regarding electronic healthcare records. Using keywords HIPAA and informatics, the author chose these resources from scholarly journals, peer reviewed articles, and print based articles and text books. These sources provide how and when to share patient information, guidelines and regulation d of HIPAA, and the implementation in relation to electronic future of nursing.
Health informatics is best described as the point where information science, medicine, and healthcare all meet. It encompasses the resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and the use of information in health and biomedicine. Health informatics incorporates tools such as: computers (hardware and softwar...
According to the American Health Information Management Association, Health information is the data related to a person’s medical history, including symptoms, diagnoses, procedures, and outcomes. Health information records include patient histories, lab results, x-rays, clinical information, and notes. The data can be analyzed to see how a patient’s health might have changed. I took interest in Health Information Management when it was brought to my attention by a doctor. He told me that is a very interesting field and it is in high demand as they have more jobs than people to fill them. I went home, researched it and now here I am making my entry into the field.
Health care information system (HCIS) is an arrangement of information (data), processes, people, and information technology that interact to collect, process, store, and provide as output the information needed to support the health care organization (Wager, Lee, Glaser, 2013, p. 105). Having ready access to timely, complete, accurate, legible, and relevant information is critical to health care organizations, providers, and the patients they serve (Wagerm Lee, & Glaser, 2013). In the health care industry, the quality of care is one of the most important objectives for most health care organizations. The growing developments in health information technology have a great impact on the delivery of health care and have changed the systems used to record and share information. It has the potential to improve the quality of care if it is appropriately used. Health care organizations routinely apply computers and other technologies to record and transfer health information such as diagnoses, prescriptions, and insurance information.
Hospital service is a term that refers to medical and surgical services and the supporting laboratories, equipment and personnel that make up the medical and surgical mission of a hospital or hospital system.
The therapeutic aspect is focussed on the care received, and how it creates a positive outcome for the service user, this includes good communication, building strong relationships, person centred planning and the choices available to the person in receipt of care. (Miller, J, 2015) (Gibb and Miller, 2007)
Nursing Informatics (NI) is the very heart of the nursing field, saving and enriching the quality of lives everyday. Informaticists engage in various aspects of patient care, essentially acting as a liaison between the nursing and technical worlds. In this report, you will find an analysis of nursing informatics within the healthcare system.
In The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, Elwood Curtis is portrayed as an activist and a believer in justice. The author uses narration, dialogue, and flashbacks to tell the captivating story of a young boy who harbored hopes and aspirations for the rights of his people. However, he was left broken and lost, while the very same justice he fought for led to his demise. The story begins in Florida during the 1960s, when Elwood was faced with the harsh realities of the Jim Crow era. At first glance, he is presented as an upstanding young man who abides by the rules and strives to make a difference in the world.
Health information technology (HIT) is improving the population of the United States of America’s health outcomes and heath care quality. Health information technology has many benefits, including efficiency, financial savings for patients and hospitals, increased safety for patients, and the potential to improve quality of patient care. According to the RAND research, health information technology can save up to $77 billion per year. As a matter of fact, accurate health information records indicate that health information technology is decreasing people’s death rates. After many follow ups it has reported that the use of electronic medical records has “reduce death by 34%”. They found that benefits of health information technology has been
Health information management involves the practice of maintaining and taking care of health records in hospitals, health insurance companies and other health institutions, by the use of electronic means (McWay 176). Storage of medical information is carried out by health information management and HIT professionals using information systems that suit the needs of these institutions. This paper answers four major questions concerning health information systems.
Healthcare is changing daily and with technology these changes are occurring faster. Health informatics is one of these changes. It combines healthcare, information technology and business. This technology makes it easier for healthcare personnel to access client information and for clients to manage their healthcare.
Nursing Informatics is a nursing field that involves record keeping and focuses on finding ways to improve information management and communications in nursing to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance the quality of patient care. This field is primarily administrative but plays a part in patient care and quality of health care. There are other types of nurses, but many people focus on the nurses who perform the medical treatments with the doctors. This is evident in many films, TV shows, and in other popular media outlets. However, many people do not know what nursing informatics is nor pay attention to that side of nursing which involves the documentation of records and other miscellaneous items, use of advances in technology to improve
To better understand the roles needed to enhance the public health infrastructure; one must first know the purpose of a health informatician. An informatician is a person who studies or work in the field of informatics. According to the American Medical Informatics Association Inc., “Public Health Informatics is the application of informatics in areas of public health, including surveillance, prevention, preparedness, and health promotion. Public health informatics and the related population informatics, work on information and technology issues from the perspective of groups of individuals” (2016). In order to build a solid infrastructure
Nurses nowadays are using computers and technology more and more every day because it is so useful in different ways. With informatics, decisions can be made through systems to support the nursing process, schedule times for procedures and medication are organized using the computer system, patient education along with nursing education can be provided with the help of technology too (Ball, n.d). So many hospitals have seen a decline
