The Wind Rises is a fictional animated film appropriate for an audience of all ages, that revolves around a young Japanese boy, Jiro Horikoshi, who is experiencing cursed dreams due to the neglecting world he is living in. I chose to watch this specific film because it looked like a cartoon that would be easy to follow along. By the end of the showing, I learned to never judge a book by its cover. Even though the film appears to be an animation of a boy flying planes, I found difficult to keep up with what was happening due to the complexity of the film. However, by paying close attention I was able to observe the intelligence and cleverness that was put into it. I quickly learned that this young Japanese citizen longs to obtain the special ability to design and fly planes, but Jiro understands that it is not possible because of his horrible eyesight. Jiro reads about an Italian aircraft designer and he also dreams about this man later that night. In the dream, the aircraft designer tells Jiro that designing planes is even better than flying them. This dream was significant because it created an ultimate life goal for Jiro.
