I will also admit to not being very responsible when the parents are away (no I don’t throw parties, but junk food and video games are more fun). Similar to when Zeena is away, Ethan feels less anxious. Well, the first one is the most obvious one. What did Mattie say to Mrs. Hale? This is a question that bothers me, I’m not usually overly curious, but what was so bad that Mrs. Hale can’t repeat it?
When the characters have their voice back, everyone sits down and has a serious conversation with the people who mean the most to them. Willow and Tara talk about their similar passion in witch craft; Xander and Anya make up and talk about their relationship and how they both truly feel about each other; Giles and his lover Olivia talk about Giles duties of a watcher and fighting monsters, vampires, and demons. When Riley goes to see Buffy in her dorm room they sit down on the bed and Riley says “I guess we have to talk” Buffy replies “I guess we do” but then neither of them say anything they just stare at each other. Overall, “Hush” shows the importance of communicating with the people you care the most about, and how it is something that is often taken for granted.
The True Blood series had an excellent run and was successful on many levels. Turning obscure actors into common names, giving others titles such as “Sexiest Man Alive” and giving even others the ability to secure roles in international movies. The series itself was given awards and became celebrated on an international scale. But to those of us that were die-hard vampire fanatics since “The Lost Boys” swept the world in the 80’s, we were just happy that the vampire stories had been revived. Now we can just have to wait until the next amazing macabre fantasy is

In early January of 1692, the nine-year-old Betty Parris and her cousin, Abigail Williams, began having nightmares, acting like animals, complaining of strange pricks in their skin, wailing like "a banshee from the afterlife,” and contorting into shapes that wasn’t natural to a human (Blumberg). It was said that supernatural forces were confiding in them, and everyone’s fear came alive when the girls mentioned witches. Tituba, an Indian slave, taught her Caribbean voodoo-inspired magic to local girls, putting the idea of witchcraft in their minds (Aronson, 1). She was never trusted among the town because she was a foreign slave. Basic common “voo-doo magic” used in modern-day shows were the “incapable witchcraft” of the 1600’s.
The excitement of New Years Eve comes from the lighting of the fireworks, as Elena describes, people “shouted with joy and hugged each other” (174), and the children were filled with “a fearful wonder” (174). In this moment the people, so full of anger, seem to reconcile, and the neighbourhood changes from dangerous to “a celebratory atmosphere of growing excitement” (174). This joy illuminates the childhood Elena could have had; one in which neighbours are friends, and past grudges fall away like they are nothing. However, the competitive and violent nature of the neighbourhood, emerges as the night progresses. When Rino and his friends fail to surpass the firework show put on by the Solara family, they turn to hurling insults at them from the street. This is not received kindly by the Solara brothers, who return with gunfire, as Elena describes “in order to win, [they] were shooting at us” (178). It is here, enclosed within the joy of fireworks and the threat of gunfire, that Lila experiences her first episode of “dissolving margins” (89). This episode represents the loss of innocence in both girls, and adds a new layer of complexity to their relationship. Elena begins to yearn for a deeper understanding of her best friend, emphasizing the secretive nature of Lila and her ultimate desire to
She finds it increasingly difficult to speak to anyone at all. When trying to speak, “[her] throat is always sore... [Her] jaws are clenched… Every time [she] [tries] to talk to [her] parents or a teacher, [she] sputter[s] or freeze[s]” (Anderson 50-51). The beginning of the year is when Melinda finds it hardest to speak. She implies that every time she attempts to talk to anyone about anything, she freezes and can not seem to get the words out. Finally, Melinda builds up the courage to open up to her ex-best friend – Rachel. Melinda shows great character development by speaking to Rachel about the incident, as she is one of the most – if not the most – difficult person to tell. Although Melinda is nervous to tell Rachel, as she and Rachel converse, she writes a note explaining that “[she] didn’t call the cops to break up the party, [she] called – [she] put[s] the pencil down. [She] pick[s] it up again – them because some guy raped [her] under the trees. [She] didn’t know what to do…” (Anderson 183). Rachel asks “why [she didn’t] tell [her]”, and Melinda explains that “[she] could not tell anybody” (Anderson 183). Although Melinda was not ready to speak before, she is now ready to speak and that is what matters the most; she has grown significantly since the rape occurred. In autumn, Melinda’s character is selectively mute and has a lack of communication skills. Yet, by the end of the year,
