In the modern era, technology has become a staple in the quick and easy cultivation of knowledge. Countries, provinces, and even cities have all used this to their advantage; creating online platforms that allow them to share important information to a large audience. The city of Toronto is no different - having its own website to do the job. Though it is a great way to present information, there can be ways in which it is flawed. In the following text, I will share my opinions about the official Toronto website in several areas.
The homepage is the first thing that a reader sees after entering the Toronto website; consisting of a search bar at the top and underneath, a drop-down menu with five headings: Services & Payments, Community & People, …show more content…

At the very bottom of the page there are language options, information about privacy and accessibility, and social media links, to name a few. Explore & Enjoy primarily focuses on festivals and events, recreational activities, parks, gardens, beaches, art, history, culture, and information for tourists. City Government provides the reader with information regarding human rights, city administration and customer services, the council, and elections. Further information about the city can be found under four …show more content…

In my opinion, information could be found more easily if a variety of topics were provided up front so that people who are looking for something specific would be able to find it quickly. Another issue that I had with the website was that it aimed to cover a great number of topics, but did not provide too much information about each. I believe that the website should have focused on providing enough quality information to each existing section before adding new ones. I also believe that there are flaws with the target audience of the website. While it does attempt to target a variety of audiences, all of the information seems to be focused on adults alone. Some information should be made more kid-friendly in order to better the website for all. Lastly, I found the website to be flawed due to its homepage. A homepage of a website should, in my opinion, be representative of the whole site. Though I felt that the homepage was a bit lacking with regards to its visual appeal, my biggest issue revolved around its organization. I found it confusing to have a variety of
