In the modern era, technology has become a staple in the quick and easy cultivation of knowledge. Countries, provinces, and even cities have all used this to their advantage; creating online platforms that allow them to share important information to a large audience. The city of Toronto is no different - having its own website to do the job. Though it is a great way to present information, there can be ways in which it is flawed. In the following text, I will share my opinions about the official Toronto website in several areas.
The homepage is the first thing that a reader sees after entering the Toronto website; consisting of a search bar at the top and underneath, a drop-down menu with five headings: Services & Payments, Community & People,

At the very bottom of the page there are language options, information about privacy and accessibility, and social media links, to name a few. The website focuses on information pertaining to the city of Toronto through nine sectors, as mentioned above. The Services & Payments sector provides information about things like future construction projects, taxes, utilities, road upkeep and management, recycling, and garbage. Community & People provides information regarding animals, children and parenting, employment, social support, health, and public safety. Business & Economy focuses on information regarding business operation, growth, licenses and permits, donations, and partnerships. Explore & Enjoy primarily focuses on festivals and events, recreational activities, parks, gardens, beaches, art, history, culture, and information for tourists. City Government provides the reader with information regarding human rights, city administration and customer services, the council, and elections. Further information about the city can be found under four …show more content…
The format of the website is such that more general categories of information can be seen at first glance on the home screen. These categories eventually lead to more specific areas as viewers follow links. In my opinion, information could be found more easily if a variety of topics were provided up front so that people who are looking for something specific would be able to find it quickly. Another issue that I had with the website was that it aimed to cover a great number of topics, but did not provide too much information about each. I believe that the website should have focused on providing enough quality information to each existing section before adding new ones. I also believe that there are flaws with the target audience of the website. While it does attempt to target a variety of audiences, all of the information seems to be focused on adults alone. Some information should be made more kid-friendly in order to better the website for all. Lastly, I found the website to be flawed due to its homepage. A homepage of a website should, in my opinion, be representative of the whole site. Though I felt that the homepage was a bit lacking with regards to its visual appeal, my biggest issue revolved around its organization. I found it confusing to have a variety of

Over the years, ICT, information communication technologies, has lead to a smaller world. A world where information can be transmitted instantaneously, a world where the quality of the information received has vastly improved. This information highway era has become so efficient that it has created a "global village". Canada is placed in a rather unique societal position today in this global village. It stands out from the rest of the world with its culturally diverse population, community networking and experts in the field. From representing its multicultural citizens through broadcasting programming, to creating successful community networks, and having leading experts in the field of communications, Canada must be considered one of the leading model communication innovators to the rest of the world.

I created my website on weebly.com because I knew it was a simple website creator. I got to choose the theme and the layout of the website and add different pages to it so it would fit my style. I first added text to the website in more a blog style form, the text was about my own experiences in dance because I wanted to give people some background on me. I added links to other pages, such as dance studios, that people could find helpful if they were looking for a place to dance. I added photographs and videos to the page to make it more interesting and to support what I had written. My intended audience for the website was people coming to Michigan State and looking for a place to dance or just interested in dance in general.

In this essay, I will discuss the topic of urban public transportation and how it relates to the Church and Wellesley BIA. The nature of transportation in Toronto is a highly complex topic. As discussed in the article Transportation: The Bottleneck of Regional Competitiveness in Toronto, there are many concerns with transportation in regards to international transport, roads, highways, rails, bike lanes, buses etc. (Keil, Roger, Young, 2008). These transportation variables all have a greater economic, health, and environmental impact. The article goes on to describe that mobility in Toronto suffers because its management is uncoordinated, and there is a gap in regional interaction (Keil, Roger, Young 2008). The scope of this essay will be to

Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information.
