“The Yellow Wallpaper” has a more obvious theme of confinement. The narrator, the wife, a fairly wealthy, passive woman, has a nervous disease. Her husband, a well known physician, prescribes rest as a cure. She is only to do domestic things, and not indulge in her writing. She doesn’t protest against his recommendation, but she doesn’t agree either. She accepts it. Since there is nothing wrong with her body, other than being tired, the physician doesn’t consider there to be anything wrong with her mind. In the house she is taken to for the summer, there’s a room with terrible yellow wallpaper. When she isn't sneaking in time for writing, she’s staring at the wallpaper. This, in result, truly makes her go mad. She starts to see a woman creeping
