Teaching learning is said to be fruitful and permanent if it is totally related to the life situations, teacher can play an important part in facilitating, learning when they consider into account the needs of the learner. In nursing , the processs of learning occurs within a framework of influential factors that effect the character, quality and effectiveness of an educational program of an institution. These influential factors include the institutional philosophy, the administrative policy, the learner, faculty, types of patients, interests and problems of the community and collective beliefs of those involved in the education program.
Structure and function of teaching:
The structure of teaching consists of three variables that are (i) the teacher which is thought to be an independent variable, (ii) the student which is an dependent variable and (iii) the content and strategies for presentation which is an intervening variable.

Knowledge and practice issues have a long-standing history in nurse education and are a continuous source of controversy to which there is no easy or perfect solution (Hewison, A & Wildman, S., 1996). This tension between theory and practice and research which can be usefully exploited in teaching and research (Rafferty, Allcock, & Lathlean, 1996). Emphasizing the importance of the issue (Rolfe, 2003), states that the theory-practice gap is felt most acutely by student nurses. The student may find themselves torn between the demands of their tutor and the practicing nurses. They are faced with real clinical situations in which they are unable to generalize from what they have learned in theory. This gap creates the biggest challenge for most of the new graduate. If we don’t step up and fix this problem of the theory-practice difference, it can cause a huge problem because the principles of practice established in curricula are not well aligned with the principles operating in the workplace. If this problem is not deeply addressed, it may be another factor on why new nurses are leaving the practice
This first part of this module, Effective classroom focus on instruction design. I have learnt various methods to plan, resource, implement, analyze and evaluate teaching. I also recognize the importance of planning in classroom teaching. Although a good planning is a necessary condition for effective teaching, it is not sufficient because students¡¯ responses and behaviours are always unpredictable. Therefore, a well-equipped teacher should have adequate knowledge in classroom management and understand different approaches in solving discipline problems. Certainly, the most important is that teachers should be able to apply appropriate approaches according to different situations. In this portfolio, I will give my personal theory of classroom discipline and teacher-pupil relationship first. Then, my reflection on the topics covered will be included. Moreover, cases from my previous learning and teaching experiences and newspaper will also be used to illustrate the application of various approaches for effective classroom management. Lastly, I will summarize the knowledge, skills and attitudes I learnt in this module and their importance for my professional development as a teacher.

What is a teacher? A teacher is someone who students rely on for further knowledge and comprehension. Often, a teacher is viewed as a role model towards their students. In many times, teachers can help guide students into a better future. Characteristics like preparation, compassion, having and showing respect to students can make a teacher more effective.
The biggest challenge before a teacher is the presentation of a lesson. If a lesson presentation is effective, students can reach the goals of life by acquisition of knowledge; and if the teacher is unsuccessful in his presentation, it is impossible to achieve the educational objectives. The method of teaching is directly related to the presentation of the lesson. The method of teaching depends on the nature of the subject, and the tact of the teacher. This essay is aimed at assessing teaching methods and strategies used in schools and discuss innovations that should take place to make them more effective and learner centred. Brandes and Ginnis (1996:167) acknowledge that the movement from established well-known ground to explore new teaching strategies is a tough challenge to teachers.
Along these two weeks we have been prompt to make a recall to our own way of learning and why we became a teacher: Was it because coincidence, due to life circumstances, maybe because family tradition, was it a conscious decision or because someone influenced us? Whatever the answer is, we have to face reality and be conscious that being a teacher does not only means to teach a lesson and asses students learning. It requires playing the different roles a teacher must perform whenever is needed and required by our learners, identify our pupils needs and preferences, respecting their integrity and individuality but influencing and motivating them to improve themselves and become independent.

When thinking of a philosophy of teaching, four major issues need to be considered. Those issues are one’s views on education, the role of the teacher, teaching and learning, and on the children. This is something that someone entering the teaching profession needs to give serious thought to and realize the importance that this will hold in the future. The following essay will express my philosophy of teaching.
There are slow learners as well as a mixture of fast learners in every classroom. These should be taken into consider and activities should be planned accordingly so that slow learners will not left behind and fast learners will not be bored. There are students with learning difficulties which will affect the teaching learning process. These should be taken into consider and teachers need to avoid things happening which as an effect in the teaching learning process. Behavior such as disruptive and destructive shows similar characteristics. These behaviors need to be discussed with the parents and necessary actions need to be taken to create a good atmosphere in the class. Also teachers will be able to identify different cognitive levels and learning styles. Some students learn through audio, some need to see visually while some of them learn by writing. So as teachers we need to have all these learning styles in a lesson to fulfill each individual. Planning should be done accurately which helps in the teaching learning process. Teachers play a great role in handling different children in the classroom. To build up an effective teaching process, these facts need to be taken into consideration.
