According to Dr. Karlene Kerfoot, “research tells us that the leadership traits of the person in charge work either as a magnet to attract, retain, and inspire or as a force that repels” (Kerfoot 2006, p. 25) and in support of this statement she makes reference to the fact that many persons go to work for a specific company with enthusiasm and eagerness and ultimately leave disappointed because of the management. “People are generally hungry for personalized leadership that speaks to their hearts”, says Dr.Kerfoot and this type of leadership motivates them to accomplish task and complete projects they deem difficult or impossible (Kerfoot 2006, p. 25)
Growing up in a rough neighborhood, positive role models were not present in my everyday life. Fortunately, I created a personal understanding of what it took to be a true leader when Marcelo Neveleff became my coach. Coach Marcelo was my club soccer coach throughout my teenage years, and Marcelo demonstrated three key tenets that made me realize what it took to be a great leader. From his guidance and inspiration, I have drawn that in order to become a successful leader, I must be goal oriented through determination within myself by leading from the front. This reflects that there is a specific goal that I, as a leader, must be willing to reach that will inspire others to do the same. To become a successful leader, I must also be empathetic

Passion, influential, reliability, a vision, etc. These traits along with many more, are the things that make leaders great and successful. Everyone has different personality traits that make us capable of being leaders in this world and I learned that throughout this course. Everyone is different, whether good or bad, ethical or unethical, everyone has a leadership style all their own. “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader (John Quincy Adams).”

In many formal and informal settings, we have often heard the word “leadership”. Although this term is found in many textbooks, writings, news clippings, college level courses and papers, leadership is a concept that is consistently evolving. Leadership isn’t an attribute that individuals are born with. Although individuals are born with certain characteristics and traits of a leader, those traits are honed throughout the course of a lifetime.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
It can also be seen that the media played the largest role in the beginning stages of zero tolerance policies and that moral panics are a factor in government policies relating to school violence. This analysis of how zero tolerance policies became implemented in Canada is crucial to answering the question about why, if zero tolerance policies are negative, did they come into effect and stay for so long. The answer, as demonstrated throughout this paper, is that the public’s perception and unnecessary fear of crime and violence of youth shapes the way the government and school boards deal with deviant behaviour even if their perceptions were the result of a misguided moral
In Bill George’s book, Discover Your True North, he describes the “Journey to Authentic Leadership” as three phases; Phase I, Preparing for leadership, Phase II, Leading, and Phase III, Generativity (George, 2015). After forty plus years of leadership positions, twenty-five years in the Marine Corps, eight years as a Manager at a nuclear generating station, and ten years as a Law Enforcement Program Manager, I have now reached George’s Phase III where I am ready to pass on my experiences and knowledge to a younger generation. In about a year, I will close out my career in law enforcement and would like to start my next chapter in life teaching or consulting. My decision to enroll in Apollos University’s Doctor of Business Administration
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
The article discusses the importance of feminine beauty throughout fairy tales, specifically the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tales. Women, especially those who are younger, are often described as “pretty,” “fair,” or beautiful in these fairy tales and that beauty is associated with usually white privileged women with high moral standards. These fairy tales, especially in prominent stories, send messages that not only tell you what beauty should look like, but also how it is rewarded. The example the article uses is from “Mother Holle” in which there is a beautiful girl and an ugly girl. The beautiful girl is portrayed as industrious
I have had the opportunity to work with leaders of different styles, and by just watching them, listening to them and seeing how the staff reacts; I can gauge what is productive with their staff. I try not to copy or mimic their style and ensure my own style comes through in being consistent, authentic and genuine. I feel by following these traits they give me necessary foundation and help me towards achieving leadership excellence.

Leadership is found not just at work but all around us. In any situation, leaders take a step forward and take charge of the situation. It can be at home, at work or at any other place. Education is a very important aspect in the life of a child. The level of success a student has in the classroom is greatly influenced by their teachers. Students, as well as their parents, depend on the teachers to guide them through their education. But who guides a teacher to perform successfully in the classroom?
