INTRODUCTION
The idea of baptismal regeneration is crucial to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it addressed by Jesus in John 3:3 while Jesus was talking to Pharisee Nicodemus and said “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” The Bible documents what the characteristics of regeneration is but how this is accomplished is not seen.
This paper will look at definition of baptismal regeneration the biblical justification surrounding baptismal regeneration; it will also look at the different doctrinal view on baptismal regeneration also the views from the early church fathers like Irenaeus, Augustine and theologian Jonathan Edwards.
WHAT IS BAPISMAL REGENERATION
For Christians the ordinance of baptism is very important because it was directed by Jesus on the eve of ascensions when commission them to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” It was also baptism that accompanied the ministry of Jesus before his death and resurrection (John 3:22, 26; 4:1, 2).
Baptism is also away for Christians to connect with Jesus and value of his death and the power of his resurrection. It is not just a union with Jesus but also with the Father and the Holy Spirit consequently baptism by the word of institution, signifies union with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Within this union there takes place purification from sin that happens when one enters the baptismal water they buried in death and raised in life just like Jesus. After the purification some Christians believe that the person is regenerated

...the subject of baptismal regeneration is a topic that has many different views. Some see that the regeneration happens when a person enters the baptismal waters and some think the regeneration happens when the Holy Spirit indwells in a person life and the baptismal waters is just and outward sing of what the Holy Spirit is doing in one’s life and it is process that one goes through in their spiritual walk.
No matter what side someone is on in this debate one must remember that the central them in the bible from the Old Testament to the New Testament is salvation and the redemption of mankind with Jesus death on the cross and being raised from the dead. Even though some might think there is some kind of magic in a the baptismal waters and some may believe that there is not but what a Christians needs hold on to is their faith in Jesus and what he did on the cross.
The Blessing and Invocation of God over Baptismal Water evokes the history of baptism. The sacred scripture of the Bible is the etymology of the prayer, as it accentuates the purpose; it illustrates the new birth and death the newly baptized are involved in. The prayer is structured in stanzas of four sections. The first section makes reference to God’s power and amplifies the faithful’s gratitude to God’s grace that is received, the second section relates to the Old Testament and portrays the power and role of water that baptised and immersed the evil to reveal the virtuous
Christianity is considered to be a living religion especially in terms of the reach for salvation. In the present through the practice of Baptism, Christians believe they die to the life of Original Sin and are born again to Christ, thus able to achieve Salvation. Thus, the tradition and sacred ritual of baptism implies that in order to be active adherents in the Catholic church, one must be baptised, just as Jesus was in the New Testament, “Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ.” (Acts 2:38) Another way in which baptism demonstrate that Christianity is a living religious tradition, is through the teachings associated with the purpose of human existence. Through the act of Baptism, which is a direct display of the belief in Salvation through Jesus, the purpose of human life is presented in terms of adherent’s purpose to lov...
Baptism is another ritual that I feel is a sacred event to symbolize your commitment to the Lord. I feel that once you make the commitment to become a Christian, the next step is baptism. I don’t think it is something mandatory for salvation but it jus...
...le, the scripture passage Luke 24:30-32 in the bible explores the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is recognised after “he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them” This is important to Christian followers, as it is the foundation of Christian beliefs. This has also impacted the way Christians practise traditional rituals and ceremonies, such as the Eucharist and Baptism. Also the scripture reference provides adherents with the knowledge of Jesus’ resurrection and how he will be “with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28), even after his death and resurrection. Thus, the ritual of Eucharist and Baptism supports adherents in seeking where Christ is in their everyday lives. Hence, the rituals and ceremonies, such as the Eucharist and Baptism are significant to Christianity, through it shaping it as a living and dynamic tradition
In this paper, I will be using Victor Turner’s concept of liminality to analyze the Christian rite of passage of baptism. Turner built upon Arnold van Gennep’s three-stage model of rites of passage, focusing on liminality rather than reaggregation and introducing the concept of communitas as the unstructured community during the liminal stage in which all members are equal. By using the anthropological lens of Turner to analyze baptism, specifically Jesus’ water baptism in the book of Mark, I hope to apply his concepts of liminality and communitas to the text to gain a deeper understanding of the model for modern Christian baptism rituals and interpretations, including Spirit baptism.

Like discussed earlier Catholics and Christians believe that the Conformation, and Baptism matures the soul and helps people reach adulthood. Baptism usually occurs at a very young age but is not bound by a person’s age. In Baptism, water is used to purify and symbolizes the washing away of sins. It is also described a person being born again because the cleansing of a person with water symbolizes the death and rebirth of that person. Also, when a person becomes baptized they accept God and have faith in God and all his teachings. Confirmation is like a continuation of Baptism because the faith in God of that person is confirmed. Along with confirming one’s faith confirmation gives a person more responsibilities. A large part of bei...
A philosopher named Augustine helps to clear up the controversy over infant baptism being right or wrong. Augustine raises the issue that, the apostolic creed states that there is “one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.” Since the creed presents this then the church followed that infant baptism remitted original sin.

The Root and Results of Revival Almost all Christians recognized that revival encouraged spiritual life. However, have they understood that revival entailed more than one week of evening services and altar calls? The key to spiritual restoration involved identifying the ground roots of revival. The author of II Chronicles summarized the cause and effect of revival in the following promise: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” The key to revival comprised recognizing the spiritual needs, making restitutions, and receiving restoration through the Lord.
In order to make a theological analysis of the idea and practice of baptism, one must first have a belief in the Bible and a belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. This is imperative before continuing a study of this topic, as this is the framework from which this whole idea derives. Everything concerning the idea of baptism hinges from putting your trust and belief into Jesus. A lot of these topics and ideas will be learned throughout the journey of growing in your faith and learning more and more about Jesus. I also think that in order to have the best knowledge of baptism, that one
It is followed by years of catechesis before being completed late by Confirmation and the Eucharist, the summit of Christian initiation. Baptism is the Church 's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God and the promise of salvation. 'Peter replied, "Repent and be baptised..." ' (Acts 2: 38-39) Baptism happens not only to the individual, but also the wider Church. At the time of Christ it signified that the person being baptised became a follower of Christ and acquired a relationship with him. '... I (Paul) also baptised the household of Stephanas... ' (1 Corinthians 1:16) The rite is celebrated with the community present and actively participating. It is the community, who will journey with them throughout their
Regeneration is the process of renewal or restoration of a body, bodily part, or biological system after injury or as a normal process. [1]
During Baptism, we are received into the church. Baptism is important as it represents a death to the old sinful life. and a rise to a new life as a Christian. Water is used to cleanse and during Baptism, an infant is cleansed of original sin or a believer is. cleansed of personal sin.
Through Christ, we are resurrected to a new life which is eternal, holy, and fully conformed to the image of Christ; therefore, in perfection with God and one another. “We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only the creation but we ourselves who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies” Rom. 8:22-23. I look to the resurrection of Christ as a depth of the power of love which is beyond understanding. The good news is that I will share in that same gift of resurrection. In truth, Christians have in baptism, experienced a taste of resurrection in Christ.
