Personal Reflection Paper: Stock Market Project. The Stock Market Project simulation was quite an experience for me. It felt more like a wild and rickety amusement park ride than even a fast rollercoaster ride. Before I started, I didn't have much knowledge about stocks or investment strategies. However, I was eager to learn and ready to dive in! Unfortunately, my initial excitement led me to make a series of risky trades that resulted in my portfolio gradually declining in the first few weeks of the simulation. I knew companies issued stocks, and that people could invest in them to grow their money. However, the intricacies of stock prices, ticker symbols, investment strategies, and more are entirely foreign to me. Through the project, I was able to gain valuable knowledge about different types of companies, like technology, their ticker symbols, and how different investment approaches can completely change a portfolio's performance. One of the most surprising aspects to me was the sheer speed of the market. Stock prices fluctuate constantly, sometimes within seconds! This fast-paced environment foregrounded the importance of staying informed, having a well-defined strategy before making investment decisions, sticking to the strategy, and not trading emotionally. Enthusiasm and the Importance of Caution This project unquestionably sparked my interest in the world of investing. Researching companies, analyzing trends, and making investment decisions was absorbing and exhilarating to me. Notwithstanding, the project also taught me the importance of remaining cautious and avoiding emotional decisions. Early on, I found myself selling stocks too quickly based on short-term price dips. This approach proved detrimental, and as I played, I learned the value of a long-term perspective and a clearly defined trading
