There were a lot of stocks to chose from in this project as you can go for a big company or go for a small company no matter which one you chose there is risks. The five stocks that I chose were Netflix, Audi, Heineken, Verizon, and Adidas. I chose Netflix because lots of people watching Netflix, and many of those people enjoy it and it is a fast growing company as more people are getting Netflix into their homes. The second stock that I chose was Audi, it was the second company that popped into my head. From the research that I did, it was doing all right. The third stock was Heineken and the reason that the company was chosen is because this February is near and the UEFA Champions League starts up in February and Heineken is one of the sponsors …show more content…
for this prestigious tournament. Verizon is a stock I chose because phone companies usually have new deals when a new year comes by and many people switch to Verizon. The last company that I chose was Adidas and Adidas is a big company and usually do good when selling stuff and they are also major sponsors for the UEFA Champions League. Those are all the stocks that were chosen. The stocks did alright but we lost many from the original 3000 dollars I began with.
The Netflix stock went down from week one to week three, it then increased from week three to week four by four dollars. The overall stock had a loss of $35.16 from week one. Audi went on downward slide and did not recover at all, it has an overall loss of $119.25. Heineken started out well but then it decreased from the week on, it had a loss of $9.15. Verizon is another company that started out well with a good increase from week one to week two but after it had a decrease by cents but not by a lot, overall it made a profit of $12.32. The lasts stock Adidas did well from week one to week two but, it decreased a lot from week two when week three came by and recovered somewhat when week four came, there was a loss of $3.21. Those are how all of my stocks did, as you can see there was a big loss from the original $3000 that I started out …show more content…
with. If I was able to sell any of my stocks through this project I would have sold the Audi stock.
Once the Audi stock would have increased I would have sold it because it is just going on downward hill towards the bottom. I also had a feeling it would not recover back to the number it was in week one. I did expect to lose money but not as fast as the stock was going down. It did make a bit of recovery in week four and that is when I would have sold. That is the only stock that I would sell because every other stock did not do as bad as Audi did.
The way I would I have changed this project is by changing the type of companies we choose. Instead of choosing similar companies like three electronics, you chose one company of each type of work like one sport company, one electronic, one music, one clothing etc. To show the diversity of how certain types of companies do in the stock market. This way you can have an understanding on what type of company is
successful. There were many things that the Stock market taught me. One of the many things that I learned is that just because a company is well known around the world does not mean that they are always going to do well and that its is very possible for them to go on a downward spiral down and you will lose money. Another thing is just because a company is doing well and you see that there is lots of publicity, like Netflix, it does not translate to instant success in the stock market. Another thing which is probably the most important thing that I will always remember is that the stock market needs a lot of research to determine what stock you are going to chose, one wrong investment can real hurt you financially and you are possible to lose a lot of money like Audi did to me in this project. Those are all the things that were taught to me by the stock market.
Target, the nation's #2 discount chain, now operates more than 1,500 Target and Super Target stores in 47 states, as well as an online business called Target.com. Target and its larger grocery-carrying stores, Super Target, have carved out a niche by offering more upscale, fashion-forward merchandise than rivals Wal-Mart and Kmart. After years of struggling to turn around its Marshall Fields and Mervyns departments stores divisions, the discounter sold them both in 2004. Target also owns apparel supplier The Associated Merchandising Corp. and issues Target Visa and its proprietary Target Card (www.Answers.com/topic/target-corporation).
Based on the Terminal P/E and the cost of equity I made a sensitivity analysis chart through which I came up with a price of $33.37. This chart shows the different price ranges of the stock which could be possible if the Terminal P/E went higher or lower compared to the Cost of Equity.
You would not buy a home, car or other large purchases without researching what product offered you the most for your money. The same is true when investing in a company. Investors do avid research on multiple companies to find what company matches the investors' criteria. In this paper Team C will research both AT&T and Verizon's financial documents. Team C will compare selected ratios, cash flow and make recommendations how both companies can manage cash flow for the future.
The stock price is currently 103.31, down from a recent high of 121.50. The P/E ratio is declining at 28 and beta at .67, which is expected to grow closer to 1.0. A recent earnings surprise last December yielded a 15% difference from the lower expectations and the latest earnings reports late last month also surprised investors. Estimates for the 2000 fiscal year are being raised by a large majority of analyst who believe that earnings per share will increase and the stock price will reach close to 150.
Warren Buffett is a legendary investor who now sits at the CEO position as well as Chairman and President of the multibillion dollar corporation known as Berkshire Hathaway. For convenience I will refer to Berkshire Hathaway as BH. BH is a conglomerate holding company which means that they specialize in investing across several different industries. Yahoo! Finance defines BH to be in the financial sector and their primary industry as Property and Casualty Insurance. Some of the other companies that BH owns and manages are GEICO Insurance, Helzberg Diamonds, Benjamin Moore & Co., and Dairy Queen. BH also owns large portions of stock in Heinz and Mars Incorporated. Due to the present day’s stock market volatility there would be no other better choice than to buy into Berkshire Hathaway.
The current CEO of Netflix has done an amazing job so far, becoming one of the biggest streaming media providers in the world. With myself being appointed to the CEO position, I have impressive shoes to fill. Netflix has made some serious changes since the startup in 1997. We are now the leading streaming media provider of the world, moving our business into over 130 new markets worldwide, reaching new international growth records. As CEO, I will drive change, identify the current opportunities and threats, and identify our current strengths and weaknesses, based on my prior evaluations throughout these last eight weeks. How will I specifically drive change? I will drive change through innovation based on new strategies and ideas.
The sensitivity analysis revealed that Nike was undervalued at a discount rates below 11.17%, when we calculated the WACC our solution was 9.87%. Any estimate below the prescribed discount rate means the stock is undervalued, therefore, it is undervalued and this implies that Nike is a buy stock.
...g changes between October 18th and November 22nd, with $39.24 and $39.87 respectively. The Coca-Cola Company's performance comparative to the industry and to its main opponent PepsiCo has been weak and the future seems trends will remain the same. After lower hopes for the future and a reduction in incomes due to procedure costs and weak sales the company is increasing their asset in the invention research and advertising. The Wall Street Journal reported that the average reply of investment specialists is that "holding" the stock is the best choice for an investor. At this point, as traditional stockholders, Due to the jump in price from $39.24 to $40.39 you would have earned 2.47% on your speculation. In end, the Coca-Cola Co. is a gainful investment. In today’s technology boom, the new waves of doing business have transformed the way people shop and live. The same happened the way people access personal entertainment. With Internet, people can stream movie online without have to go theater, or the rental movie box.
For one of my selections for buying stock, I invested into Starbucks, this company has attracted me with their wonders of different coffees, and I knew many others were interested in the very popular coffee company. Starbucks all started in 1971 in Seattle, Washington. With three men, Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel and Gordon Bowker, each of them put in one thousand three hundred and fifty dollars along with a barrowed five thousand from the bank to start up their small coffee shop in Pick Place Market, which is located in downtown Seattle. The name for this company was inspired by the character Starbuck from Moby Dick. This character was a coffee lover.
The video rental industry began with brick and mortar store that rented VSH tape. Enhanced internet commerce and the advent of the DVD provided a opportunity for a new avenue for securing movie rentals. In 1998 Netflix headquartered in Los Gatos California began operations as a regional online movie rental company. While the firm demonstrated that a market for online rentals existed, it was not financially successfully. Netflix lost over $11 million in 1998 and as a result significantly changed the business model in 2000. The new strategy included focusing on becoming a nationally based subscription model and focusing on enhancing the subscribers experience on their website. The change in strategic focus has allowed Netflix to grow into the largest online entertainment subscriptions service in the United States with over 6.3 million subscribers (Netflix).
Reed Hastings, co-founder of Netflix headquartered in Los Gatos, CA, began the company’s operations in 1997 after receiving an enormous late charge from a movie rental he returned long overdue. However, Hastings had the desire to be different than traditional movie outlets; whereas, customers had to drive to the location, pay a certain amount for each movie they rented, and were given a deadline in which to return the movie. Instead of using a method established by other video markets “to attract customers to a retail location, Netflix offered home delivery of DVDs through the mail” which eventually led to a booming business towards streaming forms of entertainment (Shih, Kaufman, & Spinola, 2009, p. 3). Direct and indirect competitors, along with outside obstacles, to a greater extent present a financial threat for Netflix. As a result, Netfl...

If a financial advisor cannot be afforded, it would have been in the best interest of the investor to read more on the stock market news regarding what stocks were predicted to have a profitable growth.
