Recommended: DECISION making task
Smartest Choice I vividly recall asking my mother why she made me go on a trip with the school to Peru, instead of going back to China. She replied to me with only one Chinese word: “Li Lian”, meaning “getting life experience and developments”. At the very end of the sophomore year, when I heard my mom wanted me to go to Peru, I was so unwilling to go, for I thought my summer was going to be hanging out with friends in China! I said to her: “Are you kidding? Peru? The Amazon River? The JUNGLE??? Did you ever think about how dangerous it would be?” However, now I am so glad that I went on that trip, because it gave me so many surprises and precious memories. Going on that trip is one of the smartest decisions I have ever made. Making this decision is hard, very hard, I wanted to see my friends back in home instead of going to that “stupid” trip with some random seniors. I was deadly wrong for this, everyone on that trip, including the students from another US high school, became my closest friends. I was still doubt whether I could make friends with these “strangers” on the pre-travel meeting, in fact, their mature and sociable character pull me inside their society on the very first day we arrived in Peru. We gathered together and played a little bit of card games, talked about our own life, told some jokes, and all of sudden, I could remember everyone’s name! They are no more unfamiliar to me, with my very outgoing character, we felt like we have known each other for a long time. In getting along with them nicely, I …show more content…
Going to this trip is one of my smartest choice of my life, which changed my life, it was so unforgettable, just like the night sky we saw with thousands of twisted, shining, dreamlike stars on the Amazon

After two days of doing reservations for the hotel, and the other activities mentioned above, we realized our trip was closer than what we thought! On a chilled afternoon we headed to our destination the sun was going down the horizon with a beautiful sky combined with orange and yellow colors, it looked
Similarly, Wong also grew up in America with a traditional Chinese mother. In contrast, Wong’s upbringing involves her mother forcing her into attending two different schools. After her American school day, Wong continues on with Chinese school to learn both cultures. Her mother felt it was her duty to “[. . .] learn the language of [her] heritage” (Wong 144). This puts a burden on Wong as she starts to despise the Chinese culture.
Lindo Jong provides the reader with a summary of her difficulty in passing along the Chinese culture to her daughter: “I wanted my children to have the best combination: American circumstances and Chinese character. How could I know these two things do not mix? I taught her how American circumstances work. If you are born poor here, it's no lasting shame . . . You do not have to sit like a Buddha under a tree letting pigeons drop their dirty business on your head . . . In America, nobody says you have to keep the circumstances somebody else gives you. . . . but I couldn't teach her about Chinese character . . . How to know your own worth and polish it, never flashing it around like a cheap ring. Why Chinese thinking is best”(Tan 289).
Out of all the trips I have taken, Cancun was definitely the best. It was 2013 and I was in fifth grade. I had known about the trip for weeks and I was so amped up for the plane ride, for the hotel, and especially the ocean. I was in science and the teacher was getting mad because I was distracting all the kids by jittering all over the place. Finally I heard my name called over the intercom and I leaped for joy and ran out of the classroom. From school we drove to the Iowa Airport, got our tickets and loaded onto the plane. Our first plane took us to Chicago, Illinois where we boarded a plane , at the O’Hare International Airport, departing for Cancun,Mexico. The second plane was very lengthy, I tried to sleep but I didn’t actually fall asleep
Waking up the day after my arrival, everything was pushed on me. I got ready and headed to breakfast. Sitting alone made me think to myself that some of the individuals there had already known each other from back home. After breakfast, the leaders from my group introduced themselves and all of us students traveling were divided. Education has taught us how bad it is to categorize people based on

At the age of twelve, I fell in love with Haiti. A close family friend was planning a medical mission trip and she shared with us what she would be doing while in Haiti as we helped her prepare. Too young to go with her, I threw myself into doing everything that I could to help from home. I set up an information booth at church, collected and sorted supplies, and prepared a traditional Haitian meal for 100 people to raise money. I learned all I could about the people and the country, sharing that information with anyone who would listen. When I was fifteen, I was finally allowed to travel with our friend to Haiti on a mission trip. Preparing for the trip included learning about the living conditions in Haiti and very basic ways to make improvements.
International travelling has opened up more new doors for us all. It breaks the country barriers, and connects all continents. People learn more about the different cultures’ quirks, mannerisms, worldview, history, and politics. Knowing more about other cultures means being smarter. Knowing more about the world also makes you feel gratitude – you learn to appreciate the wonderful things you actually have, compared to friends out there who have so little. According to Nev Schulman, “Life experience is what defines our character… You need the downs to appreciate the ups. Going on the adventure or taking that risk is important”. This was the experience of Chelin Lauer, a graduate in biology from a US college who ended up moving to South Korea to work as a science and English teacher, and then travel whenever she had the chance. I myself had also taken the adventurous journey of my life when I decided to study abroad in Canada, and then was amazed by the beautiful landscape, the friendly local people and the traditional food during my 2 years
Getting prepared and ready to explore something new is just minor compared to the actual adventure for a senior anticipating the departure of their school trip. I was a member along with 30 other classmates of the co-curricular group called Business Professionals of America, a club organized through our school. Our teachers, club officers, and all of the members had been planning and fundraising for our trip to New York City for months. The excitement grew more and more as each day got closer to take off. All of us were anixious to see The Empire State Building, "Ground Zero," a Broadway play, and the spectacular views of gorgeous ocean sunsets. We had all been told and were aware of the different surroundings of the environment, or culture we would be experiencing when we arrived. Different cultures are common throughout the world, even in different places around the United States. Going on a trip to explore New York City really made the differences in cultures aware to me.
These Chinese mothers always told their daughters their stories, their beliefs, their lessons; only to realize during one of the meetings of the “Joy Luck Club” that their daughters, their American raised daughters, knew nothing about them. The stories that their mothers translated to them, were nothing but
Today and right now, you can conveniently catch a flight from anywhere in the world and spend a couple of days in the Amazon rainforest. As well, you would make a longer journey, as I did, from the beginning of the river in Peru through Colombia until the end of the river in the beautiful beaches of Brazil in the Atlantic Ocean. Throughout this journey, you will discover that the Amazon is full of brilliance and moments of magic that always make you feel very grateful for having given yourself the opportunity to enjoy this natural wonder. Consequently, I wrote this book to show you how to travel comfortably and happily while you make the most memorable trip of your lifetime.
The trip to Asia was a chance of a lifetime. It could not have been any more perfect. We worked hard and learned a lot. The memories and friends made are unforgettable. I only hope that I helped make someone else's trip just as wonderful.
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
