The Romanov Family Tsar Nicholas II was the last Romanov emperor of Russia and in March 1917 was forced off the throne. The Romanov family were prisoners of the Bolsheviks and as a result were moved around to many places. They were finally posted at Ekaterinburg in May 1918 and were kept at the Ipatiev House. Two months down the line and the Romanov Family had disappeared. Later that year the Whites took over Ekaterinburg where Judge Sergeyev was given the job of investigating the deaths of the family. Also Britain sent over a certain Sir Charles Eliot to find out what was going on. In January 1919 Sergeyev was fired and replaced but Judge Sokolov but his investigations could not be completed as the Bolsheviks once again captured Ekaterinburg. Q1) Source A is from an American newspaper report written in 1918 and is a third hand piece of information, "Sergeyev's findings are known only from comments of people who spoke to him or read his report" therefore this is not a very reliable source as it could have been tampered with. Source A states that Sergeyev, a supporter of the Provisional Government believes that only the Tsar, Dr. Botkin, two servants and the maid were shot in the Ipatiev House. Source B is taken from Sir Charles Eliot's report to the British Government in October 1918. He believes the same five were shot, however he writes "There is no real evidence as to who or how many victims there were." This should be an unbiased piece of information, he also says that there was no trace of any of the bodies being burned. These accounts are very similar and I believe that source A could not have been written without source B the information from each are needed and as source B should be an unbiased statement source A has used that to its advantage. Sir Charles Eliot also writes about a train that left Ekaterinburg on the 17th July which is believed to have had the surviving members on
