Resurrection
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the main theme in the book of Acts as it seeks to fulfill a prophecy. After rising from the dead, He gave his disciples the authority to spread his message to the world and to establish a church. Acts highlight the teaching of Jesus from the time he started his ministry to the time he went to heaven. The Holy Spirit Jesus had descended into his apostles. It empowered them as witnesses. They would be inspired and assisted by God even after Jesus left them physically into the heaven. The Holy Spirit assisted apostles to continue with ministry work started by Christ. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is important as it gives credence to his message and enabled apostles to speak in different ways on what the teaching of Christ meant to the world. The position of Jesus was an impression to his disciples that he went to heaven. God’s right hand refers to a Messiah who was Jesus Christ and who hand equal position, power, honor, and authority with God. Jesus’ sitting position shows that his redemption work is done when the Gentiles are brought in. It also shows that God the Father, Holy Spirit, and the Son are equal in power and importance (Parry, 2015, p. 114).
Gamaliel’s Counsel
Gamaliel argued that messianic movement is prone to fail since it is of human origin. On the contrary, divine nature is destined to succeed. Thus, it is important for disciples to do things as they are pleased rather than fight against God. According to Gamaliel, Sanhedrin act of persecuting men who are from God would imply that they are fighting against God. The church should abide by Gamaliel’s counsel to ensure that people of faith are respected (Köstenberger, Kellum, & Quarles, 2009, p.
