The Raid - Original Writing The man, dressed in a long black overcoat, glanced at his watch. It was 11:30pm on a dark, miserable London night. He was waiting inside his white BMW for the pickup. Finally he saw the headlights, picking their way through the smoke; rain; darkness and fog, pulling into the deserted car-park. It was a black Mercedes with tinted windows. A short man got out, closely followed by two taller men, his cronies. He was dressed in a smart black suit and carried a large briefcase in his right hand. "You got the money?" He demands "If you got the stuff" "Good, we can proceed" The smaller man opened his briefcase, the buyer knew what was inside; 2 large bags, full of class A drugs. "Good, now that will be £250, 000 like we agreed" "Assuming all is in order" He took out a pen-knife from his inside pocket and made a small slit in one of the bags; he rubbed a small amount of the white powder onto his gum. "Very good" he went back to his own BMW, took out his own briefcase and handed it to the short man, "I hope its all there" he said "Of course it is! Hey, what was that?" It was the faint sound of a police siren getting closer and closer. Both men rushed frantically to their cars but before they could step on the accelerator they were surrounded by 2 or 3 police cars. The police got out of their cars, using their doors as shields, their guns pointed at the two cars. There was another siren as an armed response unit and a riot van pulled into the car park. The armed units positioned themselves around the car park, almost completely surrounding the 2 cars. There was an eerie silence across the deserted car park; you could almost hear the suspect's heavy breathing. There was so much tension in the air it felt like you could physically cut it.
A: According to the observations in the table above, I have concluded that icing sugar is the mystery powder. From the very beginning of the experiment it was narrowed down to two substances, icing sugar and cornstarch. It was concluded to be those two because the physical appearance and the texture only matched with icing sugar and cornstarch. The two main factors of finding the mystery powder was the reaction with water and vinegar.
The purpose of conducting experiment was to determine the identity of white compound. Based on the 5 gram of unknown white compound several experiment conducted including solubility test, pH test, flame test, and ion test. Several materials including chemicals used throughout experiment and will be described through paragraphs.

A running theme in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies is the hunts and their progression, as well as symbolic meaning it possesses as the hunts continue. The hunts always ultimately revert back to an evil and primitive nature. The cycle of man’s rise to power, or righteousness, and his inevitable fall from grace is an important point that Golding proves again and again. Lord of the Flies, is a story of a group of boys of different backgrounds who are marooned on an unknown island when their plane crashes. As the boys try to organize and formulate a plan to get rescued, they begin to separate and as a result of a decision a band of savage tribal hunters is formed. Eventually the boys almost entirely shake off civilized behavior.

My writing as a poet has been heavily influenced by writers like Langston Hughes, Nikki Giovanni, Alice Walker and Slam poets such as Black Thought and the Last Poets. These writers write and speak about the struggles and uniqueness of Black culture. Their individual experiences and political stances as well as the influences of other artist are evident in their work. For example in Giovanni’s poem “Revolutionary Music” she quotes some of the lyrics from Sam Cooke and James Brown to illustrate her personal views on racism and the equal rights movements. Hughes in his piece titled “Message to the President” skillfully incorporates the political events of his time into his poem using it to sardonically articulate his view on racial inequalities that were occurring in his time. Black Thought and the Last Poets utilize jazz and urban hip hop along with their idea of Black to relay their message.
