Past black leaders will state that society has been waging in opposition to the African community. Though it’s more than a feud, it’s not technically a war, but could definitely be called one. Pan-Africanists would say that there is no hope in humanity for the African people, believing a long upbringing of genocide against the African settlers. The African values, or traditions and cultural practices are being stripped from the African culture. That being said, the shared heritage and experience within the black identity can never fully integrate, the African community must recognize the connection and act from the process of society. E. B DuBois does support pan-Africanism, however he was not for pan-Africanism in a separatism society. Dubois and Marcus Garvey were both forms of pan-Africanism, it was the differences in beliefs and their methods on hand that would impact the effects of the future. Garvey makes considerable presentation in raising recognition and consciousness of the African struggles. On the other hand, DuBois’s pan-Africanism, initially is more practical. Garvey lacked a direct anti-colonial program connection, as DuBois did. Dubois called for a reformation of international laws and the implementation of the major colonial powers, which would lead to an acceptance to decolonize process for Africa. Both of these men led to great contribution to pan-Africanism, however differences still faced them even though they supported the same matter. DuBois in favor of creation of a black intellectual ruling class and Garvey did not ever conceive the troubles with capitalism in society. Garvey and the Starline shipping company, with the most looked at focus, to transport African Americans to Africa for the establishment of a nation state. W.E.B. DuBois was an educator, writer, scholar, civil rights activist, Pan-Africanist, and later in his life a communist, whose life goal was to gain equal rights for all African Americans around the world. DuBois’ writings were mostly forgotten till the late 1960s, because of his involvement in communism and his absence during the civil rights movement in America. Even though his writings were temporarily forgotten because of his tarnished reputation, his legacy has since been restored allowing for his writings to be reprinted becoming a major influence for both academics and activists. DuBois’ accomplishments include his part in the creation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and his support for the civil rights movement advocating for equal social and economic rights for all African Americans. His accomplishments and efforts in order to gain equal treatment for African Americans outweigh his shortcomings and failures.

Like Washington, Dubois agreed that “blacks” needed to become economically independent and find civil equality. However, W.E.B Dubois was offended at racial injustice and inequality. Du Bois understood Washington’s program, but believed this wasn’t the solution Unlike Washington, he demanded that African Americans should immediately have the right to vote, equal rights, and be granted equal educational opportunities. WEB Dubois wanted educational reform in a way that fulfilled requirements for African American students. WEB Du Bois declared African American demands through his “Declaration of the Principles of the Niagara Movement,” in which he demanded social equality.
Two of the most influential people in shaping the social and political agenda of African Americans were Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois, both early twentieth century writers. While many of their goals were the same, the two men approached the problems facing African Americans in very different ways. “It should come as no surprise that Washington’s historical conflict culminated as a struggle between him and DuBois” (Gibson III 66). To say the least, both men were very active in the upbringing of African-Americans, but their differences in displaying out the solution was what brought them apart. Washington wanted the education system to enforce industrial teachings that started at lower economic power, while DuBois had more abstract ideas of equality and voting for African-Americans. Washington was conservative in the matter of African-American inclusion into society, hoping that given enough time and progress, people would learn to accept them, rather than fight for social power like what DuBois stood for. Despite Washington’s program that appealed to White-Americans, he was involved in politics and spoke about the disfranchisement of African-Americans. His idea of easing tensions with the superior gathered him more publicity, as to DuBois’s plan of protesting. As a result, DuBois’s idea became more prominent as it branches into what we know now as the civil rights movement. The concepts of Reform and Revolution are nearly polarizing by their very nature, with one seeking to modify, and the other seeking to destroy and rebuild. If an organized Black movement was to find itself in an opportunistic position -whatever that may be- with which to attempt a radical movement (in either case; reform or revolution, the resulting movement would need to be large and radical if it would hope to accomplish its goals before the opportunity for change ceases to present itself) it would only serve to befall their efforts if they found themselves in a splintered state of conflicting ideologies. But, in either case, be it reform or revolution, a reconfiguring of the thought processes behind how one looks at the nature of American politics is undoubtedly necessary in order to look into the potential for future Black liberation.
Many of the issues of the color line are a direct derivative of colonialism in the colonies. On one hand through the idea of the problem of the color line DuBois calls our attention to the uncultured imbalances of authority, capital, opportunity and access between whites and African Americans. It also nurtures Du Bois’ right to argue that the oppressed, of necessity, will rise up in confrontation. Certainly, he anticipated wars of emancipation like the riots in Wilmington more aggressive than the imperialist wars of conquest (which in a way is a direct imitation of the time of colonialism).
Because of conditions at the time, the American Negro World took a great liking to him and his ideas of race redemption. Garvey’s organization, the Universal Negro Improvement Association, which was already established, is now the focal point for blacks in America to gather around. Garvey would later come up with his idea of starting an African Nation that would be the center for all black activity throughout the world. This plan would eventually be called the Back to Africa movement. He did not believe in a mass migration to Africa, but rather, he desired that a group of hardworking and influential blacks move to Africa to establish this new nation.

The inception of the Pan-African movement was motivated by colonialism and racism faced by African people living in Europe, West Indies and North America in the nineteenth and twentieth century. Through this, leaders of African states originated this movement to unite people of African descent to fight against racism and colonialism (Schraeder, 2000:126). The Pan-African movement was initiated by significant figures such as William Dubois and Marcus Garvey. The concept of this movement started outside of Africa. Africa was later included into this movement as it became the continent of concern of the movements vision. The African demand for colonization to end erupted a war between Africa and its colonizers. This war indicated a certain awareness and importance of uniting people of Africa together which is the initial Pan-African vision. (Schraeder, 2000:127)
African Americans have become the new dinosaurs of America. The primary objective in America other than to serve its country is to deplete the African American race. If you exterminate the root of the issue there will no longer be chaos. Without chaos it brings you serenity, peace and happiness. As the rule of capitalism, the rulers’ power depends on the populace’s power. However, the concept of nonviolence challenges the power of rulers through the intentional removal of this co-operation. As Martin Luther King implies; “Through nonviolent resistance the Negro will be able to noble height of opposing the unjust system while loving the perpetrators of the system.” (p. 139.) From the beginning, the behaviors of the doers are aimed to be changed. However, because of the rising strength of the violence against the Negro had built the foundation for a self- defense movement to achieve liberation for all Black people, which is called “The Black Panther Party.” For all the Black people, the party wanted freedom, full employment, an end to the robbery of white people, decent housing, education, being held in prison and jails and being tried in a court by a jury of their peer group.
Strong Black Nationalism: The political program of black solidarity and voluntary separation under conditions of equality and self-determination is a worthwhile end in itself, a constitutive and enduring component of the collective self-realization of black as people”. This kind of Black Nationalism focuses on Separatism, which is the idea of the African American community becoming separate from all other communities (Shelby). The idea of Separatism promotes African American people becoming the “ideal race” or the “ideal identity”. “.Weak Black Nationalism: The political program of black solidarity and group self organization is a strategy for creating greater freedom and social equality for black.”
