Edwardsville High School is the premier high school in the state of Illinois. High school is a stepping stone of life. It is where you learn who you are and you start figuring out what you want to do with your life. What you want to do with you life translates into what career do you want to have. In most professional settings, e-readers are the one of the most prevalent form of communication and organization. Not only that, but they are easy to transport around from place to place. With that being said, the premier high school in the state of Illinois needs to switch from using textbooks to using a type of e-reader.
It is commonly know that e-readers are expensive. Poorer districts would not be able to afford it and therefor would cause a bigger separation in the learning from school to school. Not only are the e-readers themselves expensive but also the software that would be required for them to work. The books would have to be purchased on the e-readers as well as installing WIFI and training the staff

The amount of handouts that teachers give would be lowered drastically (ProCon.org). This is good for the environment and helps the school save money on paper. Students have access thousands of resources right at their fingertips. It is even said that using e-readers makes learning fun. Some would say that e-readers are inconvenient but the fact of the matter is, they are so much more convenient than textbooks.
Being that Edwardsville is the premier high school in the state of Illinois they need to switch from using textbooks to using a type of e-reader. They are way more convenient than carrying a textbook around. They teach responsibility to the high school students that the school is getting ready to send out to the real world on their own. Over all, they make learning more fun. It is time that Edwardsville moves onto the next generation of technology so it can truly be a stepping stone of
In addition, textbooks are heavy to carry around and it takes longer to find a page. Likewise with digital textbooks they are compatible with tablets, smartphones, and laptops; it’s much easier to carry around and affordable price. However, some people may argue that digital textbooks can be a distraction for people because they would not bother read anymore. The author and poet Dana Gioia argues that electronics alternatives may be a bad influence that will lead society to not read anymore. Gioia complicates matters further when she writes, “While no single activity is responsible for the decline in reading, the cumulative presence and availability of electronic alternatives increasingly have drawn Americans away from reading” (161). I think Gioia is mistaken because she overlooks on electronics being a bad influence; but doesn’t see the benefits of electronics. To demonstrate, most of my textbooks are digital, which I can easily carry my tablet around where ever I go. Also, I save more money on digital textbooks and are simple to annotated the text. Journalist Ellen Lee interview a student from Liberty University, and he states that he prefers digital textbooks because he can tap his iPad, opens the digital copy and quickly open the page. Nevertheless, he also like digital textbooks because it has a feature that allows to highlight and mark the
We need the simple tools like the alphabet to be successful in life. Students are learning different by reading books off the the Net than a paperback book. In today's society people have stopped using paperback books as much, and have instead resulted to buying a e-reader or other devices that you can download books on. “the Internet has even worked its way into books themselves, in the form of e-readers. Some fear that this last refuge of immersive, linear thinking is also disappearing as e-books steadily gain in popularity, bringing immediate availability, distracting links, and possibly lower incentive for quality.”(The Shallows) A survey from pewresearch.org shows that 27% of Americans read an e-book in the past 12 months up from 17% in

There are a number of key reasons why we must ensure adequate funding of our schools. To start, we must increase the accessibility of the Internet in our schools. With our society growing by the minute the need for technology is rapidly on the run. Today we depend heavily on the Internet to provide us with fast information. It is used in high tech businesses, in homes and in schools. Through the Internet we enable students to explore new and interesting issues. In addition to the books found in our local library, the Internet serves as a fundamental tool for education. With all of the assets that the Internet provides not all schools have it at their disposal. “According to a 1999 survey, conducted by Education Week only 87%, in states like Pennsylvania had Internet access” (Gazette 99). “This number however rose to 90% in 1999.” Although the numbers did rise there are other states that are not even close to that number of access. This poses as a major problem because while other students are building their skills and are learning more, others still rely on books and articles. Through Internet use students will not only be introduced to a wide a ray of topics and search engines but will also be able to familiarize themselves with technology.
"The enemy of books" is what many parents and teachers perceive the internet to be and also believe that it is more of a con than a pro. They also believe that it is more of a distraction than a helpful tool when it comes to researching important information. In the article "Literacy Debate: Online, R U Really Reading?" author Motoko Rich writes strong evidence as to why online reading is not considered reading, how there are many pros compared to cons, if adults should interfere with students and the internet.
Books are one of the most widely known, used, and oldest form of story-telling in human history. They are defined as “a volume of many sheets bound together, containing text, graphics, or music” (Book), but today, books are also contained in electronic forms ranging from simulated pages to audio files with no pages to speak of. E-books allow those without storage space or the time to head to the bookstore to own an entire library in their hands, and audio books has allowed the blind to read without needing a physical book in their hands and those with long commutes and little free-time to enjoy their favorite books without dropping the task at hand. But, while the evolution of books seems to be only positive, each version has its downfalls,
Despite some of the disadvantages, e-book is a great resource which brings better changes in learning. Self control and proper application are needed so that the advantages of electronic books can be maximized.

However, I still want to stand on my opinion, I think e-book is better than printed book even more students prefer using printed books. I know using a e-book for long time may be harmful for people’s eyes, and the device may not support enough power for them to read books, but I more care about the advantages of e-book. An e-book is obviously cheaper than printed book, and it brings a lot of convenience into my study life. The most important thing is using an e-book is saving the earth resources. I believe that e-books will be more and more popular, and then replace using printed books in the
Getting educated is one of the most important things in life when it comes to getting a good future. By developing good knowledge of schooling, it helps establish and maintain new information as needed throughout the real world. As books are one the essential tools in learning, eBooks are being used in a everyday lifestyle. Traveling to get away places from city life, helps give reading a comforting feel. Students that use print books are eventually going to use ebooks in the future. By educating students with ebooks, it is more efficient than carrying textbooks; ebooks is more convenient and reliable to read, write and store notes. Print books are being replaced by eBooks, it helps on keeping files together and it makes notes
With advances in digital technology, there is increasing popularity of reading electronic books over traditional paper books. For example, ebooks now outsell traditional ones on Amazon. Although paper books still have tremendous values and have own market niche, as evident from the number of books placed on shelves at various retailers, e-books will be the trend of text publishing going forward. There are many glaring advantages that e-books have over traditional paper books, as e-books are more convenient to carry, have greater update capacity, have greater storage capacity, more accessible and environmental friendly. This paper will therefore elaborate on the advantages of e-books and provide a comparative analysis of e-books versus traditional books.
Many articles approved that e-book give a lot benefits to our daily life. It helps us to improve our lifestyle. Before the creation of e-book, you may have difficulties to fill your time by reading especially when you are in inappropriate place such as crowded bus. Now, your problem is solved. Some people do not like this change of reading style. They think it will cause a problem that never have been arouse before. For example, e-book will put a lot of people out of work due to the closing of bookstore. (Wharris, 2010) Yet, we can figure out something to solve this problem rather than not facing it all. We should implement this change in all sectors especially in education. Perhaps, we should change the traditional printed textbooks to e-book textbook.
E books in recent years have exploded in popularity and they are leaving an impact on many areas of our daily lives. This may seem like a good idea saving space, and being easier to purchase, however eBooks have had created complications integrating into libraries and bookstores. Are eBooks redefining how libraries are ran? To find an answer to this question we have to look at what complications bookstores and libraries have tackled in regards to eBooks and how each have been handled within these establishments.
We live in a digital era today. We have come to the point when our lives would be unimaginable without the internet. We are relying on it so much these days that our dependence sometimes borders addiction. However, the internet is slowly merging itself into our lives. It has come to affect every aspect of modern living. Therefore, of all the things the internet is influencing today, what impact does it have on modern literature? Moreover, did the internet kill literature?
Education is one of the biggest factors in our life because it determines what we will be doing in the future. The reason I want to research how digital learning will change our schools and education is not for my benefit, but for the benefit of my children in the future. I would like to know what benefits and drawbacks my children would experience from this. Will schooling be done from home and online? Will every child be required to have a laptop, IPad, or Tablet? Is face to face contact with a teacher something that is necessary in our day and age of technology? For my children's future I want to know the answer to these questions.
