In a period of rapid development of new technologies and fierce competition in almost all business, people give work and their career more and more time. Scientists have found that about 46 % of today's employees want to devote their lives to work and career achievements. One of the outcomes of such phenomenon is workaholism -- a form of behavior expressed in excessive work based on internal or external motivation. In today’s economy, most employees spend more than 50 hours at work and encourage this by establishing a direct relationship between the number of hours spent at work and the efficiency of their activities for the benefit of the company. However, this relationship is not always true. Negative consequences such as exhaustion, social conflict, various psychological and health issues may occur due to the addictive nature of such behavior. Weather workaholism is promoted by the organization or presented as an inner desire to work it affects one significantly.
Workaholics can be defined by three categories:
1. Obsessive compulsive workaholic experience overpowering need for work. Leisure time perceived as unpleasant for this category. Work becomes an addiction and significantly affects personal lives of such workaholics and people surrounding one.
2. Perfectionist Workaholic feels the urge to fulfill high standards set by society or created internally. This type of workaholics pay meticulous attention to detail, present lower scores on interpersonal relationship level, tend to have problems with delegating work and appear to be less satisfied with their jobs.

Experts such as sociologists have been trying to reach a definite answer, yet they can never agree between them. Although it is accepted that work is that time which is not leisure, one is then confounded with trying to find a definition for leisure. Stanley Parker reached a compromise by dividing our time in five sections, merging from pure work to pure leisure. At first glance, workaholics do not seem to be such a problem for industry and society as a whole. But in spite of all devotion to their work the workaholic will not be as valuable as a normal worker. Addiction to work can also be classified as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and as a behavioral disorder. Obsessive-compulsive disorders victims tend to have different combination of thoughts that consume the mind. These thoughts lead to compulsive behavior, or a desire to satisfy the obsessive thoughts. Research indicates that long working hours contribute largely to stress and stress related diseases. Currently, employees are being put on pressure by the organization in order to achieve the set goals. Nevertheless, the employees are willing to work for longer hours in order to earn more money to satisfy their increasing needs (Gullotta et al., 2003:23). On the other hand, the organizations have been compelling their subordinates to work for longer hours as a way of punishment or increasing the possibility of achieving the set goals within the stipulated time.
