Fantasia sees the world as very colorful place where everything has a purpose. The evidence for this is in their interpretive animations in the series of music pieced together to create the nutcracker suite. All the animations in the song are utilized to their max potential. For example, the seaweed in the Arabian dance is used as a curtain of sorts to the fishes cave.
The Nutcracker suite is a very jubilant piece of music. As you watch the scene you begin to realise that the animations the colors, etc. play a huge role in making that scene ‘pop.’ The way that the Fairies movements match up precisely to the music is very effective as it gives you a sense of calm. If Fantasia were to use all dark colors and no pops of vivid shades, then it would have given the song and setting a more darkened mood and atmosphere. Colors and the actions in the dance must be phenomenal in order to give the scene an energetic feel; Disney has done very well, giving this song a joyous, yet playful feel.
Disney has done a great job interpreting these pieces of music. One example is the Chinese dance: they have created a flawless masterpiece in the mushroom animated Chinese dance. All the animations are doing something joyful whether it’s dancing, or making the flowers bloom, all the actions of the characters are sending out a vibrant spirit. Animations are vital to creating a mood/setting to the music. Another great thing Disney has done to create a good vibe in the animations is the characters they used like: fish, or flowers, all these animals emit a pleasant vibe as well as the up-beat music. The dances in the song are a mix of elegant dances and up-beat dances that blend together perfectly
Half of the dances in the nutcracker suite are symbolic of different event in history or everyday life. A great example of a symbolic dance in the movie is the Russian dance; this dance that is performed in the Russian dance scene is a real Russian dance. Disney also instead of humans preforming it, they got the flowers preforming it which again gives it a very good vibe.
