The sexual revolution of the 1960’s made a big impact on society as a whole, changing and shaping it to much of what it has become today. Although this change has provided progress for the society it has also created new challenges that civilization must now face. Due to the new issues brought on by the previous sexual revolution it can be said that the sexual revolution is not yet over, as it is still revolutionizing society today. We are currently part of our own sexual revolution, one that deals with issues brought on by the previous one as well as issues that have never been tackled before, such as situations brought on by the relatively new media. This revolution seeks to change the opinions on women’s rights, sexuality and gender, and the social media. The sexual revolution is now, and it is affecting the North American society as a whole. It is widely known that society is ever-changing, so it is inevitable that new challenges will cause change; in a society that can never stay the same there can never be only one revolution. The sexual revolution of the 1960’s only served as a starting point for a plethora of sexual revolutions that are to come.
It has been thought that since the 1960’s rape has increased in society, and it is largely blamed on the sexual revolution of the 1960’s. People think that the freedom given to women during the sexual revolution, the freedom to let them wear and behave as they so see fit, is a large factor on the supposed increase in rape. This is a misconception and according to, it has been shown that nonconsensual activities have decreased over times in areas that have achieved a sexual revolution. ... today it is a societal norm; the new sexual revolution seeks to make different types of gender characteristics more widely accepted, and to do so the public must be more educated on the concept. The ideology brought on by the Inclusionism school of thought would be useful for this particular issue because they believe that modern nations must create an environment where all people can contribute to the well-being of society. The sexual revolution of today focuses on equality for all people, not just static males or females. Society is being revolutionized in this area through the increasing knowledge and subsequent acceptance of the varying gender characteristics. The new revolution seeks rights for women as well as all types of genders; this revolution is not completely focused on the women, whereas the revolution of the 1960’s was heavily focused on women.
