According to the IPIP- NEO Test, it lets the individual know what personality he/ she have by estimating each level of their five broad personality domains of the Five-Factor Model. The test contains 300 questions that uses a Likert Scale which is completed within 40 to 60 minutes. If the test is taken in a timely manner, the more likely the test and results can be reliable. If an individual rush to take the test, the less likely the results will not be what one expects them to be. The IPIP- NEO Test has a short version which people may take within 20 minutes, but there is less reliability compare to the long version of the test. A few days ago, I took the long version on the IPIP- Neo Test which it took me about an hour to complete. As I submitted the answers and waited for the results, I was thinking that it will show that I am an introvert. Once I received the results, I was shocked to see that I was 45% extravert because I feel and see myself as an introvert. The test pointed out that I received a high score in extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism, but scored low in openness to experience. After taking the IPIP- NEO test, I took the ONet Interest which helps an individual identify which career will satisfy his/her job interest. The results demonstrated that I scored high in social interest career than the other five interest. My IPIP- NEO and ONet Interest are a criterion validity since the results will more likely to be similar to one another. For example, for the first test it showed that I am an extravert and within the second test it also said that I like to socialize. Both test results point out that I am an extravert because when people are around me I am friendly, gregarious, cheerful, ... ... middle of paper ... ...do like to socialize with others. I like to offer my people my help whenever they need it such as answering questions even though I may not know, but going out my own way to see if someone else may know the answer. If there is a new student or coworker, I like to show them around and try to start a conversation or vice versa. At the end, I disagree and agree with the test results because it somehow shows where I am at within my level of personality. When my received my results, I was shocked because my expectation was the complete opposite. I wish I had someone to explain to me why my view and the test results were different when I took the time to complete all 300 questions. I agree that self-report cannot be reliable compare to having a psychologist test an individual. Hopefully retaking both test will have different results than the first time I have taken it.
Self-report has always been one the easiest ways to gain insight of a person’s personality. These test can range from quizzes filled out online that tell you which pop star is your personality twin to standardized tests requiring a certified test user. Some of the most popular and highly researched tests have been the MMPI and its successors. The MMPI, created by Stark R. Hathaway and John Charneley McKinley, was the first step towards the MMPI-2-RF. The MMPI was firstly created to test individuals who were 14 years old and older. Throughout the years, the MMPI has through a lot of changes, evolving into three tests used today: MMPI-2, MMPI-A, and MMPI-2-RF (Cohen & Swerdlik, 2013).
The questions were very thought out and not too broad which was an intelligent idea because if you want to achieve specific answers in a personality assessment, there needs to be specific questions. I read a book about the Big Five before this assignment was assigned so while I was taking the test I could partially tell which questions corresponded to which division of the Big Five. Nevertheless, that did not have an impact on how truthful my responses were. If I were to take the test again I do believe that I would get a similar score because I answered honestly and the answers I chose were the ones that represented me the best. I assume that the test would produce results for diverse groups of people as long as the information about gender, age and country were answered correctly. While taking this test and reading about the information that was provided I was not really surprised about what information was given about my personality. I am 95% of what this test says I am. This exercise helps very little because I arty new 95% of the information is going to give me, it is a good tool to give you that support he would need if you are doubting yourself.
The Myers and Briggs personality test is unlike many of the personality tests you will find randomly online because it was designed to examine the ways in which you focus on the world and make everyday decisions. Neuroticism boldly contrasts with the other personality traits in the Five Factor Model for personality (Openness, Agreeableness, Extraversion, Contentiousness, and Neuroticism). An individual being high in any of the other four traits could hardly be considered pathological. For example, high levels of agreeableness, within reason, would probably be considered to be a positive and healthy characteristic. However, the discussion regarding neuroticism certainly takes a darker turn. The Neuroticism-Extraversion-Openness Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) is a widely used personality inventory. It has sixty questions using a Likert scale that measures five personality traits: OCEAN – openness (to experience,), conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. My overall results from the NEO-FFI were low in neuroticism, low in extraversion, high in openness, average in agreeableness, and high in conscientiousness. Likewise, my results were fairly consistent with what I had originally perceived my scores to be. Overall, I do agree with my results since there were many consistencies I recognized. Yet, at the same time, my behavior could fall into both categories of high and low compared to the norms. Additionally,

With the conscientiousness category I was rated with a 58 percentile, stating I was neither organized nor disorganized. This is supposed to state weather you are able to show self-disciple and aim for high success. Which I totally disagree with because I feel as though I am the most disorganized person of all time and can never remember where I place things or can find them if that. Furthermore, I also disagreed because I find myself as a very well disciplined individual with structure and set high priorities for myself in my life to become successful. As Rentfrow states, this category is supposed to say weather you have an appraising art, sentiment, voyage and unique concepts (Rentfrow). I had scored a 20 percentile stating that I have narrow interest and uncreative. My personality type is Extroverted, intuitive, feeling, perceptive or ENFP. According to the description in the exercise, ENFP's are warm, enthusiastic and live their outer life more with intuition and their inner more with feeling.
