Schooling the world at first seems like not only an essential idea, but a moral idea. But in reality, there is many damaging effects this western schooling is causing. From lower self-esteems, to loss of self-identity, and to _____. Schooling the world is becoming just as harmful, as it was once thought to be helpful.
“Schooling the World” is a film that shines light on to what western education is doing to the rest of the world. In third countries, western schooling has become a very big deal. Many families are giving up all their money, so they can send their children off to school. These children are sent off to school, and are learning what other students in countries like Europe, and the U.S are learning. They are being made to believe that the only way to become successful is by getting an education. And the only way to measure success is by the amount of money you have. While educating the entire world is supposed to benefit everyone, it is actually causing a lot of damage to third world countries.

The both seem to talk about some of the issues, that modern schooling has on third world countries. In “Rise and Shine” they talk about how western education came about around the same time as slavery. Colonizers took over the system, and change certain things in Africans lives. Africans were happy with the original way of living; they had their own religion, way of life, and even education system. When the colonizes came, the strip away Africans culture. This is very similar to what is being seen in the film, “Schooling the World”. People in India, and China were very happy with their way of living before western schooling.
