The most ludicrous fashions!
By MAJ. Basim Mohamed Hamed.
You are not stylish! You aren’t elegant! You’re not good-looking! These are my comments to anyone who follows the most ridiculous fashion trends in the 2000s. I urge all the people who believe that they are svelte by wearing Low rise jeans, Juicy tracksuits, Crocs, Ugg boots, and Tights or Leggings as pants to come around and think again about all of these absurd designs. Now you are young, try to think about these designs when you become old. I am quite sure that you will laugh at yourself, and blame yourself for wearing these atrocious styles. For example, what would you say to your grandchildren when they see your photos in low rise jeans? Let me answer this question for you: just hide these photos since you don’t have any justification for making this goof.
Fashion changes perennially. Each decade has its own fashion which can be new or revived from the previous decades. This fashion may be acceptable or not. So the question that is spinning in our minds now is: what are the most outrageous trends in the first decade of the 21st century? So let’s turn the spotlight on.
Low rise jeans are the models that gained a lot of names. Some people call them low jeans cut, hip-huggers, and in the Arab countries, low-waist pants. In this fashion the person’s skivvies are 90% visible. This model appeared in the 1960s, and was revived in the 1990s and early 2000s, thanks to British designer Alexander Mc Queen, who resuscitated this demonic style. We are more grateful to Brittney Spears for spreading this abhorrent fashion in the USA after she wore it in 2000(1).
I know as well as you that we wear clothes in order to cover our body and our skivvies, but with this fashion I ...

This essay was written by Maj. Basim Mohamed Hamed from Egypt. He is an English instructor at MODLI, Ministry Of Defense Language Institute. This is his second time in the US. First, he came in December 2004 for BALIC. Then, he came to the United States in September 2010 for AELIC. His instructor was Ms Patricia Schwindt, the person who taught him how to use vivid language to create an essay through the analogy between the writing process and fishing. Thanks a lot.
Have you asked yourselves why so many people go crazy over low rise jeans? Especially to women who do not want to have any waistband cutting along the abdomen area.
What started as a trend that could supposedly “make” any outfit or “add a touch of sophistication” now does nothing more than scream out to the world “look at me, I’m cheap.”
...d women’s fashion to break free from convention. Bras and corsets were seen as symbols of oppression and conformity. They were discarded by many women as many new fads appeared,(). Women also exhibited their newfound freedom by wearing traditional male clothing such as baggy trousers, men's jackets, vests, over-sized shirts, ties and hats.
From the conventional Victorian dresses of the 1800’s to the rock-and-roll tee shirts of the 1980’s, American culture has experienced incredibly diverse trends in clothing. This ever changing timeline of fashion provokes the question: what is the cause of such differing styles? By considering the state of society throughout the era, it can be seen that clothing directly correlates with the current way of life. Specifically, American women’s fashion of the 1920’s and 1930’s proves to not simply be a meaningless trend – but rather an accurate reflection of the specific era. As the stock market booms and society prospers, women’s fashion undergoes drastic change during the 1920’s.
The future of women’s fashion is uncertain—in that shock value is harder to come by with each passing year. There is a concept in fashion that nothing is new, everything has been done before. This theory is coming closer to obvious reality, as fashion shows of recent years have visual throwbacks as late as the Victorian era. Although the direction is not yet decided, it is almost definite that women will use fashion as an important tool for expression and freedom in the future.

Fashion in the 21st century is a big business, as its production employs millions of people and generates billions of dollars in revenue. Fashion has for the past century been, and is still today, used as an indicator of social change and progress, as it changes with the social norms of the society and the political changes of the world (Finkelstein 3). Television and movies were at its golden moments as majority of Tv shows and movies classics came from the 90s like the simpsons which is “The series currently holds the record for the longest-running prime-time sitcom in the US, running for 25 years since 1989, and becoming the longest-running program on FOX”(Wiki). American movie classics were born like Titanic, Forrest gump, Toys story, and The Matrix. Movies and Tv shows were amazing during this time but the “icing to the cake” of Entertainment came from videogames as gaming companies fought to get more support and purchase of their consoles and games as gaming became popular because of these games Super mario, Pokemon, Mortal Kombat, Sonic, Zelda and Tetris. Fashion of the 1990s was wild and colorful with crazy geometric shapes and If your clothes were not baggy then you were considered lame. Plenty of popular clothing brands in the 21st century made their launch to popularity because of the 90s. The group who molded 90s fashion to be greatest where the youth, the youth were the ones who started so many popular fashion trends that would make the 90s have a unique look. You were not a 90s kid if you did not have a pair or a bunch of Levi’s jeans, Levi’s was the go to jean as the popular 517 and 501 were born and everyone was cutting their Levi’s, Rolling up their Levi’s, or even
Firstly, Sarah Murdoch, the representative of Bonds underwear, is of the opinion that fashion industry encourages “unhealthy body images” (Dunkerley, 2008) that is thought to be unrealistic and unhealthy for most women and girls. Besides, the fact that most designers prefer to choose thin models than bigger size ones (Bolger, 2007) shows us an astonishing phenomena that there are series of clothes from size 0 to size 4 seen not only in the fashion shows but also even on the sale markets because they think that there will be “stigma attached” when doing something for “plus-size people” (Stevens, 2010). Naomi Crafti representing Eating Disorders Victoria thinks that teenagers are becoming obsessed with “the very skinny models on the catwalk” in the fashion shows (Stevens, 2010) which gradually leads to “eating disorders, mental health” and “negative body image on young people” (Stevens, 2010). Fashion industry skinny trend seems to poison young women’s attitude towards their appearance.
Introduction Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing style in their everyday life. Some styles are influenced by vintage styles which are attributing to the deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element. Despite those different styles, some of them have even evolved into the milestones in fashion history. To start this essay, it will introduce the evaluation of the first significant revolution of dressing style in the 1960s.
Clothing has been around for thousands of years; almost as long as the modern human has. At first, it served the practical purpose of protection from the elements; but, as life for early humans stopped being a constant struggle to survive, they started noticing how they looked and the concept of fashion began to take shape. These first few garments were typically dyed draped cloth that was pinned at the shoulder and/or waist. This was seen in many ancient civilizations around the world, Greek and Roman the most notable. Over time, clothing began to get more and more complex and formed to the body’s shape, eventually leading up to the tailored style we now have today. However, the sophisticated world of Haute Couture; or high fashion, can distinctly trace its roots to Paris during the mid-19th century. Clothing from there was thought to be superior to those from anywhere else, and women began to come from all over Europe just to buy dresses. This was probably due in part to one notable dressm...
