This essay will focus on one of the most well know and popular artworks that were created by him, and describe their history or hidden meaning. 1st artwork: “The Kiss” (1907-1908 years). This is such a beautiful, elegant, well balanced and bright work. It catches attention of everyone with its colorful tones and fillings that viewers get even during one, short, glance. Man is standing next to the woman but his face is not shown. The legend says that once, very rich man came and ordered painting where he and his fiancé should be kissing, as a marriage present. He left a little brooch with the picture of his wife, so that artist would draw her. When Klimt was drawing this masterpiece, he fell in love with this very beautiful, young women and …show more content…
(1908-1911years) Visually painting is divided into two parts. 1st one is smaller and take less space, but darker, scary and gives anxiety. He definitely could show death very well. But this death is thin, jealous and alone, waiting for his moment to come. His clothes are full of funerary crosses and all of them obviously dark colored, to show felling of something unknown and scary. On the right Klimt drew number of people at different stage in life from young to grown adults. All of them have strong health, they are full of energy, full of flourishing life and even if one day, they will die and death will win, there is always new generation coming, so death wont be kill everyone at the same time. Life will be continued. This meaning is came out of different ages of characters on the work. However, most of them are women, probably just for the reason that artist found them more attractive to draw than men. But scientists say that actually women is a symbol of life, because they give beginning to a new life. Also, since the name of the artwork is “Death and Life”, this explains over representation of women figure. He used same flowered bed as in “The Kiss”. As a fact this artwork won the first price at the world exhibition in Rome in
The double Portrait ( Happy Birthday, Dear Eshter) was created by Abraham Rattner in1974. It’s an oil paint on Masonite and the size of artwork is 29.5 x 28 in. This painting has two figures who are Rattner’s second wife, Eshter and Rattner himself. The scene is Rattner is painting the portrait of Eshter and Rattner, himself is half of the paining. Rattner is stadning foreground. He is holding paint pallet by left hand and he is facing sideway. Eshter is painted in the painting frame, thus she is a kind of slightly background position. This was a part of her birthday gift from Rattner. The year painted for this double portrait was their 25th wedding anniversary after they married in 1949 and he was 81 years old. He painted on Masonite which is made from a mixture of wood fibers that have been broken down and molded into a board using heat, pressure and the natural adhesion
Wayne, transforms this painting into a three dimensional abstract piece of art. The focal point of the painting are the figures that look like letters and numbers that are in the front of the piece of art. This is where your eyes expend more time, also sometimes forgiving the background. The way the artist is trying to present this piece is showing happiness, excitement, and dreams. Happiness because he transmits with the bright colours. After probably 15 minutes on front of the painting I can feel that the artist tries to show his happiness, but in serene calm. The excitement that he presents with the letters, numbers and figures is a signal that he feels anxious about what the future is going to bring. Also in the way that the colors in the background are present he is showing that no matter how dark our day can be always will be light to

The composition of this painting forces the eye to the woman, and specifically to her face. Although the white wedding dress is large and takes up most of the woman’s figure, the white contrasts with her face and dark hair, forcing the viewer to look more closely into the woman’s face. She smokes a cigarette and rests her chin on her hands. She does not appear to be a very young woman and her eyes are cast down and seem sad. In general, her face appears to show a sense of disillusionment with life and specifically with her own life. Although this is apparently her wedding day, she does not seem to be happy.
The Interpretation/Meaning (III) will be written without any guideline points, the aim of this part will be to determine what the painter wanted to express with his piece of work and what it tells us in a symbolic or not instantly clear way. This part will also handle why the artist drew the painting the way he did it and why he chose various techniques or tools.
... study for the overall concept they appear rather as abstract patterns. The shadows of the figures were very carefully modeled. The light- dark contrasts of the shadows make them seem actually real. The spatial quality is only established through the relations between the sizes of the objects. The painting is not based on a geometrical, box like space. The perspective centre is on the right, despite the fact that the composition is laid in rows parallel to the picture frame. At the same time a paradoxical foreshortening from right to left is evident. The girl fishing with the orange dress and her mother are on the same level, that is, actually at equal distance. In its spatial contruction, the painting is also a successful construction, the groups of people sitting in the shade, and who should really be seen from above, are all shown directly from the side. The ideal eye level would actually be on different horizontal lines; first at head height of the standing figures, then of those seated. Seurats methods of combing observations which he collected over two years, corresponds, in its self invented techniques, to a modern lifelike painting rather than an academic history painting.
As the German painter and sculptor, Kathe Kollwitz conveyed in her statement that the art she created held the burden of transfiguration. The fixation of sorrow and hardship that occurred while she sat huddled with the children was the driving force of her drawings. Her realization that art could not only be an escape from the horror happenings in Germany such as the rationing of food and the starving-to-death children at that time was also a way to voice her opinion of change and revolution. It was the quest, in which she enamored in her drawings and it is this feeling that I value from it. I choose this artist because she delineated the various circumstances surrounding the human individual, she took into account perspectives that involved life with its tragedies, and the lives of little angel children. Her drawings and sculptures were prepared to emulate and capture what her eyes had seen while she was in Germany and this is why I had taken a likening to her drawings. The two artworks that I am specifying in this research paper is the drawing labeled “Germany's children starve!” and”Self-Portrait, Hand at the Forehead (Selbstbildnis mit der Hand an der Stirn)”.
To sum up, in different times in history when it comes to art the idea of death is always present. Whether it is from the time in history in which they are talking about religion or just moral meanings of life. The first painting The Crucifixion showed the idea of death religious wise but didn’t have a precise anatomical feature of the human body. The second painting the Death and the Maiden illustrated the advancement of the human body. The modern painting Someday Soon emphasized how in time how far artists have come in figuring out the human body and how it was taken even further to an abstract. All in all, the idea of death is always present when it comes to the human body.
Over the years many artist have viewed sensitive subjects within their work. Sex is one of the sensitive subjects that has been viewed in a positive and negative way. Before and during the 19th century, most paintings, sculptures, and art pieces focused on the features of a human's body. Sculptures in early times focused on the body of a man and showed distinctive features from head to toe. The sexual features of a woman was shown throughout paintings and sculptures that mostly represented fertility. suppose to symbolize the sexual union between him and the woman. The idea of showing sex in art has been shaped and formed into various perspectives.
Art is a very important part of humanity’s history, and it can be found anywhere from the walls of caves to the halls of museums. The artists that created these works of art were influenced by a multitude of factors including personal issues, politics, and other art movements. Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh, two wildly popular artists, have left behind artwork, that to this day, influences and fascinates people around the world. Their painting styles and personal lives are vastly different, but both artists managed to capture the emotions that they were feeling and used them to create artwork.

Spanish painter Salvador Dali was undeniably one of the most eccentric personalities of the XX century. He is well known as a pioneer of surrealist art whose production has had a huge influence on media and modern artists around the globe . By bringing surreal elements into everyday objects he pushed surrealism forward. It is partly to his credit that surrealism is this popular today. In "M...
“Art must be an expression of love or it is nothing.” Art is just that, one of many ways that people can express love. LOVE by Robert Indiana and The Kiss, by the French sculptor, Auguste Rodin are just two sculptures that demonstrate love. LOVE is a structure of the word love in red with the first two letters above with the “O” slanted, and the last two letters bellow the first two, that is displayed publicly in New York City. The Kiss can now be found in the Musée Rodin in Paris, France. The sculpture is of two characters of the opposite sex kissing. The materials and colors used in the two sculptures, as well as the aspect of love that they represent and the history behind the sculptures, The Kiss seems to be more romantic.
Mendieta conveys the death of innocent and portraying the figure as a canonized saint with the use of color symbolism. In the Mutilated Body on Landscape, the most striking
It was made with oil and a canvas. This painting is believed to display fridas feelings at the time of the divorce. It looks like one is traditionally dressed and the other is not. It is a representation of loss and it just gives off a very lonesome feeling. This painting uses the element of art called texture to create an attraction to the piece. Contrast is a principle of design and that is exactly what is used here. Her two figures become the center of attention. These stand out because of the dark cloudy background which is mostly contrasted with the white figures. There is also balance and symmetry in Kahlo’s painting too. She chooses to put the two figures side by side to create symmetry by repeating the figures. She uses these elements help convey a mood. She uses them to create a mood by instead of just one element working by itself she uses them all so that they all could work together. I think the purpose of this piece was to show the sorrow and despair she felt when her husband diego had an affair and they had to file a divorce. I truly think the artist was trying to say that she was know truly alone and that she did not have anyone. This painting feels as if two worlds have crashed. The one who was loved by Diego and the one who was not. I choose this artist because I knew that she could make magnificent things like this actually
