Taking Off the Mask

Who am I, but just a girl
With unimportant, tainted soul?
My image is a thoughtless swirl.
I’m broken, yet I’m painted whole.

The world around me cannot see
What imperfections mar my heart.
I know not what I’m meant to be
If deep inside, I’m torn apart.

Yet up from water, cool and sweet,
I emerge with joy restored.
My mask now lost, on steady feet,
My gaze rests on my heav’nly hoard.

Let my future in that place be,
For in my God, I’ve been set free.
