I am writing about the book The Magician’s Nephew. It is by C.S. Lewis and it is part of the Chronicles of Narnia series. This book is about two children who go on an unexpected adventure. At the beginning of this book, a young boy, Digory, learns that he has a new neighbor next door. The new next door neighbor is a family with a daughter named Polly. One day, they are both playing in their own backyards. Digory wants to meet the new neighbor so he says hello. She says hello. They start talking but their talk soon becomes an argument. Polly finally apologized when he told her about his sick mother and having to stay with his aunt and his mad uncle. After they made up, they became good friends and played together almost all the time. One time
After this, all of the animals chosen to be strong and Aslan, the lion, went and talked in a private group. Digory was told to meet with them. Strawberry, the horse, could now speak and was named the leader of the winged horses. understand, so he took Digory over to the group. Digory was brought there to tell everyone how the evil queen got into the land of Narnia. He did and he was forgiven. After this event, Polly and the horse owner came to the group. The owner is somehow recognized by the lion but nobody knows how. His wife is soon brought from the normal world and they are made the king and queen of Narnia, the new land. After this, Digory is brought forward. “ Are you ready to undo the wrong that you have done to my sweet country of Narnia on the very day of its birth?” said Aslan. “Yes,” said Digory. Aslan started telling him how to complete his journey. He shows him the way he would go and the dangers he would face. Then Aslan did something quite amazing. He took Strawberry, the horse that was brought, and made him able to speak and gave him wings. He also renamed him Fledge. Fledge was supposed to take Digory on his journey. Right as this plan was made, Aslan saw the wife and Polly whispering. He went and asked them what they were whispering
He soon realizes that the boarding of a wild stallion upon the Drake causes the excitement in the air. With much struggle, the stallion is placed in a makeshift stall within the ship and it causes quite a ruckus as its hooves crack against the wood and its whistle pierces the air. Alec has an immense love for horses and one night he gets a chance to visit the stallion up close. He witnesses the horse with its head out the window of the stall staring at the expanse of the ocean, but once it sees him it whistles once more and retreats into the darkness. The boy leaves a sugar cube on the windowsill for the stallion and then returns to his cabin for the night. Each night after, Alec continues to leave a sugar cube for the horse to eat once he has retreated to his cabin for the night.
Mistakes can seriously impact the people who make them; however, the effects are not always negative. In the book, Whirligig, by Paul Fleischman, a teenage boy named Brent is the new kid in town and he faces some major problems with his peers. After being pushed around, treated like a pawn, and utterly rejected, Brent tries to commit suicide by taking his hands off the wheel of his moving car. Although Brent’s attempt is not successful, his actions still have a tragic ending- Lea, a young, kind, beautiful girl, is unlucky enough to be in the car that Brent crashes into. The car accident results in Lea’s death, but also the start of Brent’s magical journey of redemption. Brent’s task is to travel to the four corners of the country, build and display whirligigs, and keep Lea’s spirit alive. Though Brent may not realize it, the trip does influence him in many different ways, one major change being Brent’s newfound ability to create strong relationships with a variety of people that he meets during the course of his adventure. Throughout Brent’s journey, Paul Fleischman uses the people that Brent interacts with to portray the idea that friendships can be formed regardless of personality type, race, and age.
“A nice warm shower, a cup of tea, and a caring ear may be all you need to warm your heart”. Charles Glassman’s quote was exemplified beautifully in the poem “Common Magic” by Bronwen Wallace. The piece took readers through a series of everyday events, explaining how each seemingly meaningless moment contained it’s own kind of magic. Through the use of oxymoron, imagery and characters, Wallace developed the theme that simple pleasures are fleeting and a fulfilled life involves t`21aking time to appreciate everything.
Sipe highlights five different expressive engagements—dramatizing, talking back, inserting, and taking over—that children portray during story book read- alouds. He believes that teachers must encourage these behaviors in children because it shows participation and it inspires children to take over the story. Some of these expressive engagements are reasonable while some serve as a disfavor to children’s learning. On page 482, he gives instruction on how teachers can implement the expressive engagements in their classroom. Sipe claims, “the first type of expressive engagement, dramatizing, can be encouraged through dramatic reenactment” (481). This can be problematic for fairy tales such as “The Juniper Tree”. This story about a stepmother killing her stepson by beheading him then cooking him in a stew, and a little boy turned into a singing bird who then later kills his murderer by “…dropping a millstone on her head and crush[ing] her to death” (252) can be gruesome for children to dramatize. Another expressive engagement that Sipe mentions is “inserting”. Sipe claims that if children are encouraged to insert themselves or other people around them into the story that they are reading, they can exercise their power over the tales. Through this process, Sipe claims “children in process of becoming one with the story, to the extent of assuming their stance as fellow characters with equal agency and presence in the story” (478). The story of the little boy in “The Juniper Tree” suggest a different view about mechanically inserting characters in a story. The little boy must learn about what each of his family members did to contribute to his death. When the little boy died, he did not know anything about the causes of his death and the things that happened after. He had to learn that his “mother, she slew [him]”, his father

The title of my book is “A Fear Street Novel- Don’t Stay Up Late”. My book is a Fiction, Horror, Suspense, Thriller, and Young Adult. In this book, there are many main characters and their names are; Lisa Brooks, Harry, Brenda (Harry’s mom), Alice (Harry’s aunt) Dr. Shein, and Lisa’s mom and friends. The main character Lisa is a very intelligent, curious, and imagines a lot of things. Next, the character Harry an eight-year-old who is very affectionate and adorable, and is the character that causes the mysteriousness, and the begins the climax. Brenda is Harry’s mom and is very nice but a bit weird, and Alice is Harry’s aunt who is very sweet and charming. ...c child who is an innocent and has no place in the world of the wicked. His troubled self’s resolution comes at the end after Edmund has spoken to Aslan, the true ruler and god of Narnia. Both Edmunds own initiative and, less directly, religion lead Edmund back to before he was spoiled by the school he went to and the enchantment of the witch’s candy. Lewis therefore is following the Romantic tradition of innocence as a part of childhood since it was not Edmund’s fault he performed the incorrect behavior and was drawn to the side of evil.
Children have often been viewed as innocent and innocent may be a nicer way to call children naive. Since children’s lives are so worry free they lack the knowledge of how to transition from being a child to becoming an adolescent. Their lack of knowledge may be a large part of their difficulties growing up, which could be a few rough years for many. In books like the boy in the striped pajamas the story is told from the point of view of a little boy, this way we get a full view of how innocent he is. In this book the writer shows the reader first hand how a child viewed the holocaust and how his innocence cost him his life. Then in books like the perks of being a wallflower Charlie is a teen whom is struggling with the transition from being a child to becoming an adolescent. In this book the writer gives a first hand look at how difficult it can be to transition into an adolescent. Charlie has many difficulties in this book; he is in search of his identity and how to fit in.
In conclusion, C.S Lewis symbolizes good and evil into his characters. The good one would be Aslan and the bad one would be the White Witch. They embody their role with characterization. This can be shown with the description of the two characters. Aslan is pure of heart and powerful and the Witch is cruel and terrifying. Also, their actions are key facts to demonstrate their chosen side. Aslan is always doing beneficial action for others, instead of the Witch that wants more and more power, willing to destroy life to achieve her goals. Through this book, the two opposite characters are really well explained and analysed.
“The third day- it was Wednesday of the first week- Charles bounced a see-saw on to the head of a little girl and made her bleed,” (1). In the short story “Charles” written by Shirley Jackson, Laurie, the main character of the story, is a young kindergartener who is able to run around causing trouble at school and at the same time, pretend that it is only another boy in his class that is making the trouble. “Charles” teaches you that parents do not know everything about their child even though the child lives in the same house as them. Laurie’s parents do not know what he is like at school. Laurie is flamboyant, and arrogant yet creative and those characteristics make him the perfect troublemaker.

Children literature is a term that refers to the texts written for children. The artist uses creative ways to ensure that children are provided with educational books, touching on a variety of themes. This paper will include comparison of two characters from the two texts, “Hana's Suitcase: A True Story,” authored by Karen Levine and “Charlotte’s Web,” written by E.B. White, with the aim of understanding ways in which problems are solvable as indicated by selected characters.
In Children’s literature, the characters are good or bad. The author attempts to teach the children without confusing them. They are learning right from wrong when doing this. In the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Clive Staples Lewis uses this in his novel with his characters. “He parallels the difference between right and wrong” (“Faith”). In the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Lewis shows good vs. evil and the archetypes hero and villain in his novel.
Lewis, was a book which changed children’s fantasy metaphorically and literally. In the book, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie stumble upon Narnia, a frozen land under control of the White Witch, through a wardrobe inside the house. Levy and Mendelsohn describe how the fantastic is contained in the sense that “the true fantastic is found at the heart of the home” (41). This book follows that same idea that there is a separation between the real world and the alternative world Narnia. When Lucy finds Narnia and rushes back to tell the others about it, they do not believe her at first because it sounds made up. It is not until the others stumble upon the alternative world themselves that they are blown away by the fantastic elements and characters. In Narnia, there are many fantastic characters including the faun Mr. Tumnus, the White Witch, talking beavers, dwarves, centaurs, minotaurs, and Aslan the talking lion who represents a godly figure. These four siblings have to learn who to trust and who they cannot trust. Levy and Mendelsohn point out that “Lewis changed the mood and direction in ways that have endured, although other forms were to emerge in the 1970’s … understanding that much children’s fantasy would be otherworldly, either physically or spiritually” (106).
