For instance, working with others helped me to become a better musician. I knew it would be hard to learn of the new music that we were receiving; therefore, I had to work together with others in order to get better at each piece. I’ve gotten a lot better at reading music because I worked with others to learn new notes. I’ve learned that sometimes there are things that I'm not going to be able to do by myself and the only way way to accomplish them is to work with others. Furthermore, working with others has often helped me with some of my class work. Sometimes I don't fully grasp some of the things that we do in class and I reach out to other classmates in order to get a better understanding of it. Sometimes we have group assignments in class and in that case its really important to work together and communicate in order to finish the assignment. Although, sometimes I find it difficult to work with others because I am not the most sociable person. Matthew L. Sanders discusses the necessity of taking responsibility for one’s own education in a section of his book Becoming a Learner: Realizing the Opportunity of Education. Freshmen year of college had finally arrived, and I was ready to experience life through the lens of an adult. Just turning eighteen, I had it all figured out, my school of choice, my major, and my career. My plan was to graduate with a major in business administration and a double minor in psychology and political science, with hopes of becoming an attorney. It never ceases to amaze me how each semester of college has taught me to expand my realm of knowledge and to become more open to new experiences. After my very first semester, I decided to double major in business administration and psychology. As time went on, my sophomore year allowed me to delve into many major courses, which probed a thirst for knowledge that needed to be quenched. At this point, I wanted to receive a more thorough understanding of both academic disciplines, but it was not until my junior year that I realized my true purpose.
I believe that teaching and learning is both a science and an art, which requires the implementation of already determined rules. I see learning as the result of internal forces within the person student. I know that children differ in the way they learn and grow but I also know that all children can learn. Students’ increased understanding of their own experience is a legitimate form of knowledge. I will present my students with opportunities to develop the ability to meet personal knowledge.
Social cognitive theory of learning is a theoretical perspective that focuses on learning by observing others and eventually assuming control over one’s own behavior (Ormrod, 2011, p.323). Social cognitive theory is a perspective that helps us understand about learning by observing other people doing the same thing. This theory is a blend of behaviorism and cognitive psychology (Ormrod, 2011). Behaviorism theory relates to learning as a stimulus- response relationship and suggests that learning involves a behavior change whereas according to social cognitive theory learning is an internal process that may or may not lead to a behavior change. For example one might attempt to ride a bicycle as soon as they learn to ride the bicycle but learning how to put air in the bike may not be needed until the bicycle need air.

The learning perspective is defined as the psychological approach that emphasizes how the environment and experience affect a person 's or animal 's actions: It includes behaviorism and social-cognitive learning theories. These theories can then be further broken down into insight, latent learning, and models. Insight occurs when, after encountering a problem for some time, one suddenly realizes how to solve a problem. One must be immersed in the problem so that when a break is taken, the subconscious works on the problem and solves it. Another learning theory involves latent learning. In this theory, concepts may be learned but not used until reinforcement is added. When a reinforcement or reward is involved, then latent learning becomes visible. Imagine that you have been learning about diabetes in your biology class during the last week of the school year. At this point of the year, all motivation to learn is lost.
Each of the three learning theories, Cognitivism, Constructivism, and Behaviorism, has worth and merit in my opinion. Yet, each one has its own unique qualities with one common factor, the learning process. It seems to me that the best teacher is one who would utilize all the theories of learning. However, if I look closely, I am most likely favoring one or two more than the others in my own instructional methods. I read the brief definition of these three theories and realized that I needed to examine a more in-depth explanation of each of them. The theory of cognitivism focuses on the mind of the learner
