One thing I especially appreciate playing music on my violin. When I’m thinking of my violin I think of the school orchestra. I can picture all of us laughing as Mrs. Markley is waiting for all of us to start in the correct position. When you first hear it you might think Mrs. Markley is getting annoyed, but I promise she’s not because we can all see her trying to stifle her laughter. Especially, I picture all of the amazing friends that I have made in the past two years in the orchestra. One of my funny memories in orchestra was when we had our first concert. We had to stop in the middle of one of our songs. It was quite embarrassing then, but now it’s something we all laugh at.
After incredibly long days I can go to orchestra to play and
For almost 8 years of my life, playing the cello has influenced my life in so many extraordinary ways. Choosing the cello over any instrument, was probably one of the best decisions I will have ever made, in the 5th grade. The violin was way too high, the viola was way too small, while the upright bass was way too big. I knew at that very moment that the cello was the instrument that I wanted to play. The warmth of the instruments tone, and the powerful sound that came out of the f-holes drew me in so quickly.
at this time had no valves and so could only play a limited series of
Playing violin has always been an important part of my life. Aside from leading the Union Orchestra as Concertmaster, I served as an Assistant Principal in the Tulsa Youth Symphony. The Tulsa Youth Symphony has given me many opportunities to perform for the community and inspire people in the process. Every year, the orchestra has a Play-a-thon at the Woodland Hills Mall. Sometimes, after the event, the parents would point to me as an example and tell their children to practice harder and “be as good as that guy” (me). That absolutely made my day. A few months ago, our orchestra performed at a community event in Bristow. I highly enjoy playing at these types of events because we can reach many people with our music, who ordinarily may not be
Music is part of our daily life. We listen to music in our special event, when we are in our way to classes, and while we are taking our shower. We listened to music when we were kids, and we still enjoy this sensation of this magic waves that enter into our brains. However, we do not know what exactly happens to our brain when this waves attain our nerves. We cannot understand how we like a kind of music, and we dislike another one. We will be very surprised to know that music helps us in different field in our school road. This is why scientists exists to prove to us how amazing the brain is. This research paper will cover the past and the present researches made by scientists and experts in the brain field. Even VH1, a music channel for young did a study that proves the importance of music. The channel claims that music is important to builds and strengthens connections between brain cells. Besides it improves memory and the ability to differentiate sounds and speeches. ( VH1,2013)
I stood up, as the loud vibrations of the church bells seem to touch my heart. I crossed the long, seemingly endless stream of soft healthy green grass to the black box, which lay just as I had left it in its own solitude. Inside of it lay the violin in which I had devoted a lot of my middle school life to. I had spent many hours practicing on this wooden contraption. Now all of my hard work, all of my hours practicing, would go into making this one piece sound amazing, spectacular, and memorable. This wasn’t something I was doing for myself. This was something I was doing for my family, friends, and most importantly the sweet, cherished soul of my dearly departed grandmother. I wanted there to be one last remarkable token of my love for someone who had made such a large impact on my life. I knew that my grandmother had absolutely loved the fact that I play a violin. She had always said that I held so much talent.
Music today has been shaped throughout history by famous composers, pieces of music, historical moments, and the introduction of new and innovative ideas. Historical pieces such as Symphony No. 9 by the famous composer, Ludwig van Beethoven have changed the dynamics of music as well as exemplified moving cultural themes that have been reiterated throughout future generations. This beautifully composed symphony came at a time of transition for the music culture and resonated perfectly with the cries for help after the French Revolution. More specifically the last movement of Symphony No. 9 wonderfully represents the impact music has on cultural forces and public opinion. Composers throughout history have produced music based on the political
Over the years I have gotten really good and learned quite a lot of songs. I love the violin so much because I love this high sounds of it. Sometimes when I hear a violin playing really high while the whole orchestra is playing low I think it sounds pretty.
Of all the instruments laid out on display, only one caught my attention. I was thirteen at the time, and naturally, my eye was drawn to the shiniest of the group. I had never heard the sound of a flute before, aside from the cheap imitation of one on my family’s electronic keyboard. Nevertheless, I picked the pretty, gleaming, easy-to-carry flute on that first day of band class. Three years later, I can’t imagine playing anything else. What started off as blind luck and an attraction to shiny objects is now a part of my life. Playing an instrument is always a worthwhile investment; you develop a skill that many people only wish they had, you have opportunities to meet other musicians, and you may even get to travel in a band setting. But in order to reap the benefits, you first have to learn how to play.
... to the abilities I acquired during the course of my seven years of orchestra, I know that I am not going to let anything hinder me from attaining my goals. Orchestra has helped me develop a high level of concentration that will definitely stay with me for the rest of my life, and I find myself focusing in school with ease rather than struggling like the rest of my peers. Observational skills will also help me to study more efficiently since I will be able to fully take note of the material given to us. Going from the five-year-old who was swaying humorously with her mother in the kitchen and becoming the musician seeking a medical degree is all thanks to the different methods in which music was associated into my life, and I am excited to use my skills inherited from orchestra in order to fulfill my lifetime goal of helping others and becoming an endocrinologist.
For five years, throughout middle and high school, Jennifer Seavey has persuaded her class to listen to Mozart or Beethoven while taking their vocabulary quizzes. One month after, her peers were reminding her to put on the classical music. They believed that listening to Mozart would give them a slight but critical boost to their quiz scores (“Mozart’s Magic” 1). Turns out, there are academic studies supporting that classical music improves intelligence temporarily. This phenomenon was coined as the ‘Mozart Effect’. The minority of the population that prefers music while studying listens to classical music while the majority prefers to listen to more contemporary music with strong beats and vocal performances; however, classical music is the most statistically beneficial. Students should find classical music a necessary aid for studying for the reason that classical music enhances learning and wellbeing due to its potential for triggering critical thinking prowess, brain plasticity, and soothing effects.
I feel proud to have grown up in a musical environment, as my grandfather was a professional musician who played in several professional symphony orchestras, my mother learned violin from my grandfather, then my older brother from her and then I did. On the other hand, my father is a former Fulbright Scholar with a DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. Although they have all have been a tremendous inspiration, it was my own will, passion and love for music that led me to pursue such career.
However, there are also negative feelings associated with the violin in my memories such as feelings of frustration when I felt as if my body was incapable of
On my first day of violin i sounded like a dying cat and a year and a half later i am like a whole new person and can play like a beautiful bird singing. If i did not start playing violin i would not know what to
Playing the violin has taught me to strive your goals and be proactive, because if I did not have a positive mind, I would have quite long time ago when I first began playing. Even though I still have difficulties playing the violin, playing a beautiful instrument has shaped me to run that extra mile and try harder. It has made me grow to be a more confident female because during orchestra class there would be intense rehearsals. I had to know every scale and had to play a piece the teacher provided
Music is an essential part of life because of the expression it allows people to have, its entertainment, and its therapeutic ways for the world.
