The author mentioned that Jack Finney’s book was actually about the height of the Red Scare, which is Communism. During 1950s, Communism developed strongly and American citizens were afraid of it. Moreover, in 1950s, the U.S. was also involved in the Cold War with the Soviet Unions. It is a horrible period of time. Senator Joseph McCarthy attempted in many aspects to expose suspected Communist members in the U.S. soil. Through out of its development, horror movies contributed a great part in not only the film industry but also further, the society. They expose many things to audiences by giving them opportunities to experience mysterious things without worrying about physical danger. They influence other entertainment genres, and they can be used to portray the worst in society. From cult classics such as Dracula to game-changing filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock, the Horror Film Genre spews out a great deal of talent and material for society from the best and the worst of society. Horror movies, nowadays, becomes more and more popular. Typical themes such as serial killers, ghosts and zombies are being replaced by other types. Horror movies are transforming gradually and are not only interested by adult but also children. Recently, there is a famous cartoon series named “ Hotel Transylvania” for every people no matter how old they are.
