There are many negative views that people have on Americans and on America in general. David Zinczenko thinks that so many American kids are becoming obese because there are more fast food places than there are grocery stores. Vicente Verdu says that America has such a huge impact on other countries that crimes that are happening here are happening there in very similar ways. Other countries are gaining McDonalds and they are changing the menu to fit their culture. Renee Graham commented that American directors are buying the rights to Asian movies and changing them so that Americans can better understand them. The remade movies are getting better reviews and taking home more money than the original movies.
Globalization is a term which became popular after the 3th quarter of the 20th century. It is used to describe the movement of people, information, commodities and financial tools across national borders which increase the interconnection between countries economically, politically, socially and culturally. The effects of globalisation on different fields are one of the main discussion topics of these days. One can easily find thousands of articles on the impacts of globalisation on economy, agriculture, politics, democracy, science and even on climate. However, globalisation and its effects on culture is an unheeded area. The defenders of globalisation consciously avoid discussing culture, because they all know that globalisation is the main source of cultural genocide.
At the beginning, the difference between Americanization and globalization was not clear. Moreover, I thought that Americanization is spreading more, but it turned out that what is happening is globalization. Globalization started when other countries rised like Asia and Europe and it buried Americanization. The thoughts and ideas of other cultures globalized and affected national security, environment and the human rights in a positive way. Countries now shares weapons and army, care more about environment and started to find solutions; also globalization lead to justice and equality in most countries. To sum, for a prosperous future it is always good to share ideas, cultures, thoughts and solutions but in a smart way. For the present and the future, let’s think
Globalization refers to the absence of barriers that every country had. Yes, it has helped to demolish the walls that separated us .Globalization, which is the process of growing interdependence among every country in this planet, can be seen as a sign of hopeful and better future by some, but for others it represents a huge disaster for the whole world. That’s why we are going to see the negative effect that globalization has on culture then focus on the ethical disadvantage it brought, to finally talk about the damage it did to skilled workers.
Globalization, the acceleration and strengthening of worldwide interactions among people, companies and governments, has taken a huge toll on the world, both culturally and economically. It’s generating a fast-paced, increasingly tied world and also praising individualism. It has been a massive subject of matter amongst scientists, politicians, government bureaucrats and the normal, average human population. Globalization promoted the independence of nations and people, relying on organizations such as the World Bank and also regional organizations such as the BRICs that encourage “a world free of poverty” (World Bank). Despite the fact that critics can argue that globalization is an overall positive trend, globalization has had a rather negative cultural and economic effect such as the gigantic wealth gaps and the widespread of American culture, “Americanization”; globalization had good intentions but bad results.
Now a days every modern critic usually thinks about the globalization and effect of globalization on culture. Does it having positive effect on the culture or does it having negative effect on culture. So it is very important to understand what is global culture? and how it is effecting social life, political life etc. For seeing how the world globalized here we compared three different eras and observed the effect of globalization on culture.
Globalisation can take on many different shapes and forms in its free flow of goods and services across national borders. Cultural globalisation is one of those forms. Capcioglu (2008) refers to cultural globalisation as a “Global circulation of information, signs and symbols on a global scale and the reactions shown to the various socio-cultural transformations as a result of these conflicts.” Ritzer and Barber (1996) first coined cultural globalisation as ‘Americanisation’ and ‘McDonaldisation’, referring to the spread of western culture from the United States across the globe. The American image was beamed around the globe in the 1950’s and 1960’s through Disney cartoons, music videos, television programs, Hollywood movies and products such as McDonalds and Coca Cola. The global appeal of these goods and services was centred on the fact that America is seen as the place of modernity around the world. It is a culture that is rich, powerful and exciting and thus captures global appeal.
Globalization of American culture has been growing extremely fast since the last century. Nowadays most people listen to American music, watch American movies and eat American food. Not every non-American person knows the history of his or her culture. In fact, everyone knows American history better than any other history. That, of course, affects the growth of globalization of other industrial and post-industrial countries.
The term “globalization” was known in the common vocabulary in the 1980. It is used to describe the increased movement of people, knowledge, goods, and money across national borders. It has led to increased interconnectedness among the world's populations, economically, politically, socially and culturally (T. L. Friedman 6-14) . Even though globalization often is thought of in economic terms, this process has many social and political implications as well. The globalization of today’s world through technology creates an intercultural phenomenon that has never been seen before. Not only are jobs and services more readily available to all people in the world, cultures are also meeting on all levels.
Globalization is associated with bringing together world economies and cultures. Globalization is a controvertible conception. This allows powerful corporation change local enterprises and in the future make the gaps big between, rich people and poor people. The benefits of an international market to integrated where labour, ideas, capital and goods can be free and to promote the economic development all of the levels in the society. Globalization is the connection of different parts of the world. Globalization results in the expansion of international, cultural, economic, and political activities. As people, ideas, knowledge, and goods move easily around the globe, the experiences of people around the world become more similar. (“Definition of Globalization“, n.d., ¶ 1)
