Culture is an essential part of every human being. People can fall under the category of one culture or they can fall under many. Values derived from culture tend to reflect in an individual’s or a society’s understanding of what is wrong and right. In culture, there are many significant features. Some are material, such as food and clothing, and non-material, such as beliefs and ideas. These material and non-material objects help to push people into powerful roles and they maintain the power. With the power these people then have a strong influence on the beliefs and ideas of the lower people. They have the ability to alter and change their beliefs at any time and most times, they follow along with it. These ideas and thoughts have been in place for many decades, since cultural theorists, such as Marx and Habermas, began explaining them. They have been a thought for decades

In this study, I aim to determine the effects of globalization on Middle Eastern society, particularly that of Iran. By globalization, I mean the expansion of influence via growing global economies, particularly that of the west, and its unique and very common interaction with the Middle East. Aside from economical expansion, I also include military, political and cultural expansion, or globalization, by that of western cultures and states onto Middle Eastern societies. Cultural expansion can be an effect of economic globalization, as well as military presence in or around a said area. International politics also play a role in affecting cultures, as politics are quite intertwined with economics and military action. Economically, globalization has caused the distribution of wealth to shift dramatically. This is due to many causes, but the oil industry in particular is the source of much of the changes in Middle Eastern society. Iran is no exception, with the oil industry casting a great shadow on the nation’s economy. Obviously, the oil industry also dominates the global economy, therefore bringing many different factors into the Middle East. The pursuit of a “competitive business environment”, international business and political pressures combined with internal and international cultural conflicts, military presence and international image all play huge roles in impacting society. I will be exploring these three variables: GDP, Effect(s) on culture, and rate of growth.

It also includes non-economic elements such as culture and the environment.
Western countries have been suspected of using their position and power to cultivate cultures around the world through the use of media. These cultures are inspired by western cultures and are a powerful way to gain and maintain dominance especially in third world countries. This essay is aimed at arguing a case against global cultural imperialism. Key areas taken into cognizance in this work are, firstly the definition of key terms used in this essay. Secondly, this essay focusses on the demerits of global cultural imperialism though media use namely, erosion of the youth’s indigenous cultures, the use of media to portray western cultures as superior relative to other cultures, contamination of indigenous cultures through the unruly content found in western media productions, western cultures and living standards as shown though the media promotes brain drain in less developed countries, western produced products promoted on global media present unfair competition to local products and how global cultural imperialism is being used to spread western propaganda hence misleading the youth. Lastly this essay concludes with a conclusion.

Globalization is the connection of different parts of the world. Globalization results in the expansion of international, cultural, economic, and political activities. It is the process that controls the way a person behaves in particular situations. However, culture is changed by the processes of diffusion, acculturation, and transculturation. Diffusion occurs when ideas and things are moved from one society to another. Acculturation occurs when strange behaviors or attitudes are introduced into the receiving society and they accept and practice these behaviors. Whereas transculturation, it refers to a person who moves to another society and adapts to its cultural practices. (O'neiil, 1997-2014). So, the relationship between culture and globalization is that, globalization promotes the contact and exchange between cultures within different societies around the world. (Smith, L.). Globalization can be defined as the international incorporation which results from the exchange of products, culture, ideas, and worldviews. It may also be defined as the increased flow of people, information, and goods across international boundaries. Increase in transportation and the internet has brought about an increase in globalization. Violence, stereotyping, gender or sexual promiscuity, and even racism are shown to be negative effects of media outlets. With media being polarized, it becomes difficult to decipher what is the true influence that the media has. Media is currently known as a communication that has profound effects on the social identity of younglings. However, the effect media has on the identities of adolescents can go both ways of the spectrum when it comes to globalization. Globalization plays a big key role when it comes to technological advances such as media or communications; thus, shaping identity, a social concept, is being transformed or reformed in new and more global ways. With globalization rapidly growing in these past decades, communications and media have broken barriers in countries, letting ideas and thoughts emerge. By providing young people a way to communicate through communications and media, media provides a flow of information and adolescents take it in. Though, media and communications being one of the most significant moves of all time in technology or global advance, the ability for ideas to be enforced, to be corrupted by a false sense of security about what the world actually is on a adolescent, can become challenging. Although, knowing it can 't be reliable, it still acts in a sense to forms one identity. With media being one of the
