Question 1: Both the Industrial Revolution and the digital revolution made a huge impact on our society. The impact of the Industrial Revolution had on the birth of sociology is quite simple to explain. In England, during the 18th, when century the Industrial Revolution happened, it changed a large portion of the population lives, since a lot of people used to live in rural areas around the outskirts of cities, working on agricultural types of work. However, once the Industrial Revolution took place, many of these people moved into the cities, making them even more crowded and the rural areas more deserted. It was a huge change indeed. The invention of machinery and the industries that it came with attracted a lot of people, hoping to make better

While most people are already living in cities and would make us think what else could make our society change once again, there came technology to make this happen. Twenty years ago when people didn’t have computers or cell phones in their everyday lives, things were different. Kids went outside to play with their friends, families got together on weekends to spend quality time together. Todays society however has already been through a huge change just since 1990. People basically live on their phones, social media makes us capable of sharing our thoughts just in seconds or to post pictures and interact with one another just by using our smart phones or computers, and also given much more job opportunities to people who can now also work online. The digital world gives the possibility for sociologist to simply the internet to find information within seconds, which might have taken them hours in libraries 20 years ago. The digital revolution has impacted society and sociology to the same extent as the Industrial
The Industrial Revolution has brought a major transformation to the American society. New technologies and advancements changed the way Americans viewed their world. Gender issues, social class, immigration, relations with Native Americans, and slavery were either positively or negatively impacted by the revolution. Nevertheless, the United States’ huge step toward progress during the Industrial Revolution made a lasting impression in American society.
Of course, the internet (in some respects) is much like the steam engine and mass transit in the way it facilitates more commerce, more social interaction between Americans, and greater sense of common identity. These forms of technology will definitely continue to change the social and cultural situation of the American people, compounding the effects of the industrial revolution in America’s history. compounding the social, cultural, economic, technological, as well as geographical changes accompanying technology. However, the variety of ways in which this can and will happen are numerous.
During the 1760s the industrial revolution was about to begin in Great Britain. Before the industrial revolution started people did manufacturing in their house with hand tools and small basic machinery. Once the Industrial Revolution started most of the at home work stop and factory work had began. The industrial Revolution had improved life for people, not only did it improve life but it also improved banking, transportation and communication systems.
Firstly, the invention of Machinery made work that was commonly only for the skilled now open to many. In another essay I wrote “In factories more machinery allowed for needing many more unskilled workers, giving more Americans jobs” (Clark, para.3)
Evolution is life, as life is constantly changing. During Histories most important periods the world changes drastically. According to historians, two of these periods have taken place, and one of them was the Industrial Revolution (Miller, 492). Like its name suggests the Industrial Revolution had to do with the evolving Industry. It was a period during the 18th and 19th centuries marked by social and technological change in which manufacturing began to rely (INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION, Timeline Index). Power driven machines began to perform what people had done before. Many significant changes in the way goods were produced took place ultimately transforming and modernizing the world. The basic resources for industrialization: land, capital, and labor, were available leading to mechanization and the modern factory system changing industries such as the textile industry. Steam engines were invented, coal replaced wood and charcoal, steel was created from iron, roads and canals were improved along with railroads and the creation of steamboats advancing transportation means. The division of Labor, interchangeable parts, mass production, and the assembly line, among many other factors contributed to the modernization of the industry. Advances in technology, communication, science, and medicine took place altering society and ways of life. People were changed along with culture (Miller, 489-97). However, throughout these ever flexing times, one thing remained nearly consistent-literature. Of course, even the arts were revolutionized.
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the Industrial Revolution in Europe had a significant influence on society. There were many changes in social classes and equality. The rise of the middle class had a momentous effect on the population of Europe and was a catalyst for many changes in the social makeup of the region. The influence of technology and electricity changed many aspects of social interaction and created a new class system. The migration of workers and the separation of the classes had political and social repercussions throughout Europe. Labor unions and political parties provided protection and a voice to many of the working class, and urbanization provided the stage for reformers to push for modernized cities. Women in this era also had distinct differences in their treatment and standing regardless of their social class. Two of the key social concerns of this new industrial era in Europe mainly revolved around the emerging social classes and the equality of women.
Life today without the Industrial Revolution would have meant that it would have taken months for basic messages to be sent or years for people to travel to a part of a world. Before the extraordinary innovations of the Industrial Revolution, society was unproductive compared to modern standards due to very slow communication and transportation. It would be impossible to industrialize on Western Frontier of the United States in the early 19th century because the necessary supplies were hard to transport The most complicated modes of transportation were also limited to using natural powers such as animals or the wind. Communication was equally primitive as developments in transportation and was limited to speech and writing. However, the Industrial
Industrial Revolution was a breakthrough moment for England from 1750 to 1830. The Industrial Revolution put England ahead of every other country in advancements. Shifts were made from making items in homes to manufacturing items in factories. It marked a major point in history, and would change people’s lifestyles from this point forward. I think the overall effects of the Industrial Revolution on individuals and society are mostly negative. There were several positive effects being advancements in education, modern inventions, and industrial production. There were also several negative effects being working conditions and wages, changing role of women, and child labor.
Out of all the revolutions through the ages, which would you think had the biggest impact on our life today? This is a question we never really ask ourself. There has been numerous revolutions and all different varieties. A dramatic revolution that comes to mind is the “Industrial revolution” it has changed all of our modern things we take for granted today. From smart-phones to washer machines of the Modern day. Back in say the 1900's people couldn't even dream of having, seeing how much they have change since then.
The industrial revolution has impacted my life greatly because of the transportation improvements. The various innovations of the industrial revolution allowed us to make many advances in our daily life and common transportation. Some of these innovations being the introduction of maintained roads which to start were made of rock but eventually made of tar which allows ordinary transportation to occur and be possible. In the textbook it states “Working in the early 1800s, McAdam equipped road beds with a layer of large stones for drainage. On top, he placed a carefully smoothed layer of crushed rock. Even in rainy weather heavy wagons could travel over the new “macadam” roads without sinking in mud.” The introduction of improved transportation
Working in manufacturing became objective and more organized. This meant that less skill were required to perform tasks which allowed for younger men and women to find employment. Manufacturing became broken down into processes of which people played a small part in. In most cases the workers never saw the end result of their product. Where as in the past they would work on a product from start to finish and even trade.
The industrial revolution had dramatic impact on the world and to a large extent it was positive. The main area that many people argue about is technology and although it has some negative impacts, it should be primarily considered as a positive impact. Technology and other changes due to the industrial revolution has been made an positive impact on manufacturing which without we wouldn't be able to produce the goods we do today in such large numbers. The last area which has been negatively impacted by the industrial revolution was the labor and working conditions. The biggest change that had occurred during the industrial revolution and therefore should be considered as a major aspect in determining whether or not the industrial revolution
Technology has improved our way of living. Due to many advances of technology most Americans will not be able to live without it. The most impactful revolution that has occurred to the social life of a regular American is the Digital Revolution. The revolution brought new ways to communicate. With Social Media Americans can now connect to friends and family members across the world with ease. Many mediums of communication have been born out of the Digital Revolution.
Today, Americans are faced with the increasing change of technology in our everyday life. Sometimes the change happens and we do not realize how it affects our lives. I think it is always a good idea to talk to someone that is older than yourself, like your grandparents to remind you of the times in their younger years. Hopefully, that will open your eyes to the changes we face in this generation and the generation to come. In this chapter, the author explores the relationship of changing technology to changes in both the environment and social institutions.
Industrial revolution was a change fromform the use of hands to the over time machines. In Northeast, Rhode Island had became the first textile industry. Industrial revolution was a huge success for the Americans economically. Even Though there were some stances where there were doubts raised in the minds about the economy, but it was major success due to the influential factors. The 19th century transformation of the American economy was greatly influenced by the technology
