Communication is the interaction between individuals and is an important skill to use within the Children and Young People's Workforce. The structure of communication is used by passing a message, receiving the message and replying to the message which is an essential and a basic skill of life. There are different types of communication, which are: Verbal Communication and Non-verbal communication. The reasons why people communicate is to express/portray our feelings and needs. We also need to communicate in order to build positive relationships with other professionals, children/young people and their families. Another reason we communicate is to understand one another and learn from one another by sharing ideas/information and experiences.
Verbal communication is in one way for people to communicate which is face to face. The several main key points of verbal communication are words, sound, speech and language. There are two different types of verbal communication which are formal and informal.

However if Jack’s parents or Jack himself would later like to tell his parents who he was involved with is fine as it has come from a child rather than the staff as this is not appropriate.
6: In what situations would you break confidentiality? What possible tension could this cause?
There are many kinds of situations when you would break confidentiality. These types of situations includes; if there is an evidence or a reasonable cause that the child is suffering or is at risk of suffering significant harm or suspecting any kinds of abuse happening at home. If there are any concerns, you have to contact the department of Community Services and explain to them about your concerns for the child.
All children are vulnerable and open to be abused by any adult that has contact with them. As an early years practitioner, it is exceptionally important to be able to recognise when a child’s behaviour is changing for the worst and link this to signs of abuse. As the early years setting is an establishment young children know well and are comfortable in, adults present can make children somewhat aware of what abuse is, how it is wrong and what they must do if they recognise abuse may be or is being inflicted upon them.
Implications of reporting child abuse can also occur when human service professionals are faced with ethical circumstances. Throughout the human service profession, social workers may find it necessary to disclose confidential information regarding their client to authorities, in order to comply with mandatory reporting laws involving child abuse and neglect (National Association of Social Workers, 2016, para. 1). When social workers are faced with this type of dilemma, it can have an adverse effect on the working relationship between the professional and their
Communication involves the exchange of messages and is a process which all individuals participate in. Whether it is through spoken word, written word, non-verbal means or even silence, messages are constantly being exchanged between individuals or groups of people (Bach & Grant 2009). All behaviour has a message and communication is a process which individuals cannot avoid being involved with (Ellis et al 1995).
Effective communication is important when working with children and young people. Effective communication is good as it helps make relationships between the child and adult, this will further the children’s communication skills and they will then be able to make friends. Communication is also important as it’s how we express and share our feelings, needs and ideas, that’s why it’s important for adults to make good relationships with the children. Children should feel comfortable and relaxed when communicating as this makes them more likely to enjoy communication and be able to discuss any problems to the adults.
Communication is the way each one of us communicates to one another in the world today. For instance, if there act no way in relating to a person by understanding the person. There are two forms of communications, and called the verbal communication and the second one is called nonverbal communication. Oral consist of communicating with your voice with another person while nonverbal consist of communicating through the body language or gesture of an individual. The principles of teaching are to understand better a person in different places of the world.
Communication is the process of conveying information to each another using words, actions, or by writing the information down to be read by another person. Communication is something that most people do at some point each day, and is an important part of life especially in a working environment. “The concept of communication is an essential part of every profession, and it is required to foster and maintain healthy relationships”( Jasmine, 2009, para. 1).
Nonverbal communication does not rely on the use of words to convey its meaning. “Nonverbal communication is usually understood as the process of communication through sending and receiving wordless messages. These nonverbal messages can be transmitted by bodily gestures, posture, facial expressions, and eye contact” (Subramani 2010). Nonverbal communication is simply that, communication without words. Nonverbal communication is present everday in our society. It goes hand in hand with verbal communication. It complements and enhances spoken words. According to David McNeill, gestures have two core features: they carry meaning, and are synchronous with speech. He goes on to say, “gesture and speech express the same underlying idea unit but express it in their own ways.”
Non-verbal communication decodes messages using body language and facial expressions. Therefore, non-verbal communication is a type of language as its own that can be used universally. This includes, touching behavior, proximity, eye contact, gestures and many more. Furthermore, non-verbal communication can be misinterpreted as well because people from other countries has different ways of interpreting gesture...
Through changing the tone of voice, pitch, and volume, humans can transmit communication verbally. Nonverbal communication, on the other hand, involves facial expression, timing, body movement, touch, and gestures are done without uttering words or speaking. Nonverbal communication between people implies the use of kinesics and proxemics which take place between people set far from each other, as well as haptics which involves touch (Burgoon et al., 2016). Verbal communication unless they are through mobile phones, occur between people placed closer to each other. Finally, it is through body language that past experiences determine the intent of the surrounding and it is through it that most of the human communication can be collected to ensure authenticity and truth of the verbal
Usually while communicating we do not give space ( proxemics ) much thought. But proxemics is a very important aspect of non-verbal communication. I am a very affectionate person and I hug people a lot. It is my portrayal of affection. Though my manner of hugging is different, as it is according to my comfort level with that person. This is because there are different level of appropriate space, depending on your relationship with the person you are communicating with. I give side-way hugs to people I know but aren’t that close to. This type of hug would be considered in information and business distance. Another type of hugs I give are back rub hugs. I usually give back rub hugs to those whom I am comfortable with, making these type of hugs to be casual conversation distance. My much more intimate hug, where I snuggle into another person would be considered to be in intimate distance. Every type of my hugs are categorized in different space levels. These space levels are important because it affects the receiver influence on the message my hugs give. The receiver is going to interpret the message my hugs give through these space. Though not everyone define proxemics the same way due to cultural gap. Every culture defines appropriate space while communicating differently. Sometimes it creates misunderstanding between receiver and sender due to misinterpretation
Communication skills and interactions are very important for every part of life. The way that people communicate can affect how well they do in school, in their careers and in their interactions with friends and family members. Some of the most important communication skills for success in our lives occurs without the use of words, and instead takes the form of an action. This can be the way in which someone stands, what their posture looks like, where they look, where they hold their arms and whether or not they make eye contact. This is because people tend to say things with their bodies that may otherwise go unnoticed, or may indicate that they mean something different from what they are saying. Non-verbal communication can be
According to Argyle (1978), more than 700,000 forms of body language are expressed by human from head to toes. Also known as Kinesics, body language form can happen through posture, gesture, stance, and movement (Birdwhistell, 1952). Posture refers to how we control our body that can show the information about a person’s feeling as the hints of personality characteristic such as confident or unassertive, and gestures is the movement that made by our body parts such as hand, eyes, arms, and fingers. Kinesics can be used to support or accentuate what people saying and content information about the feeling and personality of people through their expression (Martin & Remland, 2009). Its include how we approach and greet each other, body posture while we sit and stand, facial expressions, our appearance, tone of voices, eye movements, stand distance between each other, and how we touch others (Rugsaken, 2006). Refer to Ekman and Friesen (1969), there are five types of Kinesics consist of emblem - the signal make by hand movement such as the signal that mean ‘OK’ and ‘Good’, illustrators – the movement come

...tention to how people react to one another’s comments, guessing the relationship between the people and guessing how each feels about what is being said. This can inform individuals to better understand the use of body language when conversing with other people. It is also important to take into account individual differences. Different cultures use different non-verbal gestures. Frequently, when observing these gestures alone the observer can get the wrong impression, for instance, the listener can subconsciously cross their arms. This does not mean that they are bored or annoyed with the speaker; it can be a gesture that they are comfortable with. Viewing gestures as a whole will prevent these misunderstandings. Non-verbal gestures are not only physical, for example; the tone of voice addressing a child will be different from the way it is addressed to an adult.
