Nowadays, translation and interpretation are professions that are on the rise; this is due to globalization and more especially with the inception of Internet in our daily life. Because of this, there is currently an increasing demand for information and knowledge waiting to be translated into several languages, so the need for translators and interpreters eventually increased and is expected to continue growing in the coming years as people from all corners of the globe are more intertwined as never before. In few words, translation and interpretation in the present time is a big deal. The advertisements that she collected came from national newspapers, Canadian online job sites, Canadian translation associations, and translation schools. Her main goal was to extract from the advertisements a corpus consisting of general guidelines that employers seek in prospective employees. After collecting this corpus, she proceeded on screening this corpus following an indexing criteria which were: source, date, job, employer, location, permanent (yes/no), full-time (yes/no), professional association (yes/no), languages, domain, qualifications, required skills, and other keywords. Once the information was sorted according to the indexing criteria above, Bowker summarized, analyzed, measured, and converted into numerical statistics all the information following a quantitative approach. Finally, these numbers were shown in tables and discussed by the researcher under the following headings: the number and type of jobs, the language combinations, the locations where the job was offered, the domains, the qualifications, the required skills, and the employment

Companies used various methods for recruitment, such as online job search engines, job data bases, in house advertising, billboards, employee referrals, and word of mouth. These methods have both caused company growth and company regression. Some methods hinder certain groups from completing an application and others promote an equal playing field for potential recruits. Frequently in "Feminist Political and Social Thought" taught at SUNY Albany, by Dr. J. Hobson, I found myself simultaneously inspired and frustrated by the theory we were assigned to read. Authors such as bell hooks, Uma Narayan, Ann Russo, Kimberly Crenshaw, Andy Smith, John Stoltenberg, and Judy Baca did such wonderful jobs of pointing out the problems of perspective that stymie the feminist movement from achieving its goal to facilitate the bonding of the oppressed across differences, in order to overcome all oppressions. Unfortunately when combing through these authors intricately written, often jargon-ridden words, it was difficult to make practical sense of their insights. I understood what many of them were saying and in many cases I couldn't agree more, only I could barley imagine how these theories might be applied to real life scenarios. Furthermore, it was difficult for me to see how much of this would come to any use-say the next time someone made a racist, homophobic, Western-centric, sexist comment at work, or at the Thanksgiving dinner table for that matter. How could I possibly communicate the things that had been discussed in the classroom, laced with words like paradigm, praxis, pedagogy, and a completely deconstructed concept of the word "culture"? All these things would need an introduction of their own-and that may work in a classroom-but rarely in a conversation!
In Halley’s Comet by Stanly Kunitz a teaching is telling her first graders about Halley’s Comet. She tells them that if it hit earth there would be no school the next day. The children fill in the gaps and realize that there would not be any school because the world would end. One of her students is very concerned about this and that night while his family is asleep he creeps up to the roof. On the roof he sits and waits while looking at the sky. He is waiting for the world to end. Being a young child he does not totally understand everything that his teacher told him and he truly believes that the world is going to end that night. This is one example of the way that children interpret things inaccurately. When I was little, like many other children, I interpreted numerous things very wrong. As a kid my family and I always stayed up to watch American Idol. Back then it was really popular and we all liked seeing people who sounded terrible and the select few that actually sounded decent. Well one day when I was five I can remember that I was in the car with my family and we were driving home from something. My mom and step dad were singing to a song, and I remember thinking that they should go on American Idol, because surely they would win. Thinking back on it now, I laugh because I now know that I do not come from a family of vocally talented people. Every year when we sing Happy Birthday I have to restrain from covering my ears because we are so tone deaf. I had this misunderstanding, like the child in Halley’s Comet by Stanly Kunitz, when I was little because I was proud and curious, but now I can see that it was just silly.

“Lost In Translation” is one of those movies that seek to be something having something extra something that is more than a regular movie. Moreover, it does so effectively without being pretentious, all through the movie it does not seem like it is trying too hard to be something other than what is there. It is skillfully written, well directed and it boasts of a solid cast not very spectacular but full of good actors. Jointly, this eventually results in an enjoyable and interesting movie. The important thing is that it has a message to it. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson play two individuals lost in the new and unfamiliar surroundings, restlessly moving around a Tokyo hotel in the middle of the night, who fall into talk about their marriages, their pleasure and the significance of it all. What occurs between them is very deep they open their hearts to one another letting the other know about the feelings and problems they are having with their marriages. In my view, these conversations can in fact only be held with strangers. We all need to talk about metaphysics, but those who are close to us want information and details; outsiders let us function more loosely on a cosmic scale.
The Importance of the Brief for a Translator under the Framework of the Skopos Theory
In human society, translation plays a significant role, which helps realize effective communication among people. Humans are set apart from all other animals for one reason. We have the power of imagination and thus power to interpret what we read. Therefore, we can argue that the written word is the most meaningful of all types of communication. It is valid to say that if ten people read a book and were asked to retell the book in their own words that we’d hear ten different versions of the same book. In today’s society, our interpretations are feared. We might interpret anything contrary to the author’s intentional meaning. The author could then possibly be liable for any actions we take after reading his works. Don Quixote is one who consciously decides to interpret his books of chivalry as the right way of life and concurrently decides to live his own life in that manner. “I remember reading that a certain Spanish knight . . . having broken his sword in battle, tore a great bough or limb from an oak”(69). Since Don Quixote had read about this particular knight, he justifies it to himself that he too could also tear a limb from a tree and uses it as a makeshift lance. When Sancho asks if Don Quixote had any pain, he replies, “I do not complain of the pain…because a knight errant is not allowed to complain of any wounds”(69-70). Again, Don Quixote is going by a set of rules of chivalry that he obtained from his reading. At night, Don Quixote refuses to sleep “but thought about his Lady Dulcinea, to conform to what he had read in his books about knight errants spending many sleepless nights in the woodland and desert dwelling on the memory of their ladies”(70). I do not believe that Don Quixote is mad, as some may say, but that he is only interpreting what he has read to suit him. If Don Quixote were a real human in today’s society his family could very well sue the publishers of the books that he read, claiming that the books drove him to insanity and should not have been published. However, if all written works were feared in that context, then it is also a possible that all books are to be feared. This is shown when Don Quixote’s niece helps a priest and a barber to burn Don Quixote’s treasured books of chivalry. When the barber suggests that “These do not deserve burning with the rest, because they do not and will not do the mischief those books of chivalry have done”(61).
