INTRODUCTION
INDIA is a country of wide varieties of colorful cultures, traditions and customs. It is a country of extensive amount of natural beauty within it, and only because of its beauty it has a huge amount of tourist from other countries getting attracted towards it.From the Himalayas to the backwaters of Kerala, India is indeed a box full of surprises.
India has 29 states and each state is somewhat different from other in ways either it be language, culture, tradition, customs or natural and man-made beauty. Home to many famous and powerful kings for years this country is simply mesmerizing. Tourism contribution to Indian GDP is 5.92%. The number of tourist from across the globe to India has grown from 4.45 million in 2006 to 6.69 million in 2011. India tourism sector ranks 7th in the world in terms of total contribution to GDP, according to a report of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). Moreover tourism sector has created 40.3 million jobs in 2016, which ranks India 2nd in the world in terms of total employment generated. The sector accounts for 9.3% of the country’s total jobs.

The highest number of tourist arrived from Bangladesh (20.12percent) followed by the United States (16.26 percent), the United Kingdom (10.88 percent) and France (3.01 per cent).

The government of India has taken some major steps in increasing tourism in India like its international campaign of incredible India. The incredible India campaign is not the only one which such campaign but in India all of the states have their own tourism campaign which are advertised my some mega stars like the awesome Assam campaign featuring Priyanka Chopra or the Gujarat tourism campaign which is advertised by Amitabh Bachchan.
