The Importance Of Pursuing College

Growing up, our mother has constantly reminded my two sisters and me how important education is. How it is imperative, crucial and basically just the most valuable thing she can provide for us. Admittedly, as a kid, I never really gave much thought to what my mother was saying. Not for the reason that I didn’t care, but simply because I would rather play, be with my friends or binge on my favorite cartoons. Essentially, I would much rather just handle the “grown-up” stuff some other convenient time. It is only when I got older have I realized and truly appreciated the importance of education, the value it will play in my life and future success. Pursuing college is not only one of the prime factors to my acquisitions. Moreover, it is also

a way I can render back to my community and ultimately, to thank my mother’s hard work through the years.
Being in college, pursuing a career and hopefully being successful is one of my mother’s greatest dreams for my sisters and I. The pursuit for a college degree and chasing my dreams is not only the best way to show my mother my endless appreciation of the life she gave me, it is also a way I can ensure myself of a bright and better future. Another reason why I value higher education is the privilege to render back to my community. I believe that through college, I can be a woman successful and all, wherein I don’t have to rely solely on what my community can provide but rather, be of help to those who might need it more. In fact, my choice to pursue a degree in Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology, is my humble way to care for the environment, and pave my sincerest appreciation to life.
With all that being said, I must say that obtaining a higher education is more than just for pride and self-validation. By earnestly trying to make a better future for myself, I can show my appreciation to my mother, my community and to the life that I have. Using college as a stepping-stone, I strongly believe that I can get to where I want to be. I can be a woman that not only is successful but also someone who cares enough for her environment by trying to educate herself. That is why college is important to me.
