Strength is more than just a physical word. It is a word with prestige. Strength can be used in three ways; physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Strength is the quality of being physically strong, the ability to stop force without breaking, without effort, and with concentration. Strength is a word that is misunderstood time and time again. An abundant amount of people think, strength is only physical, while in fact strength is also emotional and spiritual. Physical strength is good for your own health- for the protection of you and others. To gain physical strength is for your personal benefit. To have physical strength is a blessing, although to others a mere burden. To a bully, who abuses his physical strength can cause anguish and exhaust to himself and others. Is a man who beats his kids strong, or is a man strong when providing support and comfort to his kids? That’s where emotional strength comes in. Many people don’t realize that emotional strength often pairs together with physical strength. Emotional strength is one the best things to have. As we get older we gain more emotional strength, because we have gone through more experiences and gained so much more knowledge. Boxing teaches self defense, although …show more content…
Well, that is because our physical health and emotional health correlate together. Obviously, if we are suffering physically, whether we’re suffering from an injury or a sickness, it can have drastic effects on our mood and outlook. In addition, when we are suffering from things like depression, anxiety, and sadness it can be evident in physical ways; migraines, aches, nausea, etc. On the other hand, spiritual health can actually alter the way we experience life events and how we grasp our situations as well; therefore making episodes of physical stress or depression easier to get
Strength is having the courage to carry on during hard times. No matter what was happening in the lives of the characters they still kept going on throughout their lives. One example is when Big Mama died and she normally held the family together. The family had to continue their lives without her and this could have been hard for them to do.
...egories: physical, mental, and spiritual. Physical strength can be defined as; the quality of being physically strong, or capacity to sustain the application of force without yielding or breaking.” (Diaz 238). Reading this book brings about many different gestures of strength bringing about different emotions and showing that you can deal with heartache, pain, and every other emotion in various ways, but just like Cheryl Strayed said “Let yourself be gutted. Let it open you. Start here.”
“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.”(Mahatma Gandhi). When you have the will to do something or you feel strong enough to accomplish something you do not need physical strength. An example of this is when Gandhi had his biggest protest in 1930. He led over thousands of Indians on an over 200 mile march to a town on the coast. The reason they did this is to stand up to the British which had a monopoly on salt. 60,000 people were arrested including Gandhi which shows even though they weren’t strong enough to stand against the law they still achieved their goal of protesting the salt monopoly. Chris also has similar quote to Gandhi’s and that quote is “It’s not important, in life to be strong…. but to feel strong”(Chris McCandless).

That is, looking at a person holistically in order to determine what skills, networks, or resources a person might have in order to face a challenge. In this instance, Charo’s strength outweighed her weakness. Even though her husband tried to break her down and she was mandated as if she wasn’t the victim; in which the student thinks that feeling was ineffective to the client. It made her feel more of how she was already feeling, like a victim. Charo still remained strong and cooperative for her children; to seek some help to get out of her domestic relationship. As stated in the reading, “She continued to attend the group sessions for support and found new friends who had become a support network for her. She also completed a financial empowerment program, which further taught her how to manage her finances” (Plummer & Brocksen, 2014). This implies strength in Charo to be able to turn her life around and gain the support she needed, because without her strength and willingness to get help none of this would have been
Strength is a fundamental aspect in endurance. There was a time in Mariam and Rasheed’s marriage when Mariam finally got pregnant but unfortunately lost the baby and seven other times miscarried. The first time it was hard on her and when she asked her husband
Mental toughness is the ability that one has to keep themselves motivated without losing confidence. Elie had a lot of mental strength. He lost his mother and two sisters which didn’t make him cry. Neither did that stop him from fighting for himself. Elie was with his father most of his time at the concentration camps. His father was weak and close to dying. Elie did not let that get to him either. When Elies father died: Elie didn’t break down and lose himself. He felt rather free: "I did not weep, and it pained me that I could not weep. But I had no more tears. And, in the depths of my being, in the recesses of my weakened conscience, could I have searched it, I might perhaps have found something like- free at last" (Wiese 106.) Elie was really strong to keep his feelings aside. He knew crying won’t let him win the race in survival. As for losing his father, that just gave him more strength because it was a burden off his shoulders. In order to survive, they had to keep themselves going emotionally. Radasky also had mental toughness. In the introduction of his interview he mentions: “No! You have to fight for yourself day by day. Some people did not care. They said, "I do not want to live. What is the difference? I don 't give a damn." I was thinking day by day. I want to live. A person has to hold on to his own will, hold on to that to the last minute” (Radasky 1) these words of wisdom
However, in some ways the approach seems that it neglects important components in how children can learn from their mistakes. The synonyms for strength are courage, power, stability and main force, it is these words that help provide children with the ability to move forward. Using the Strengths Approach can in some ways help children to see past their weaknesses and strive to develop on their strengths but in order to find your strengths you must test out and find the gap between them. “Simply focusing on people’s strengths is not enough to liberate people from oppressive realities” (McCashen, 2005, p. 2). The approach hides the ability to sort out the weakness and “not able to give a complete picture of a child” (DEECD, 2012, p. 8) therefore the approach is designed to neglect the areas in need of further

Strength is an abstract concept with various meanings. Some meanings are more complex than others. Many people when they hear the word strength think of muscular men who can lift cars or comic book heroes that fly around their city saving people. More exists to the concept than just being muscular. Strength is also shown when one goes through something tough but stays positive and pushes through it anyways. Having strength can mean possessing the ability to accomplish hard tasks because of muscles, being firm or solidly planted in something, or withstanding your own and not giving up or giving in to the opposing force.

Physical fitness is usually applied to the framework most typically associated with two classifications: Basic fitness (a condition associated with health as well as well-being) and specialized fitness (the capability to carry out specific sports activities or work-related skills). Strength is not about being a tough guy and being able to bench two hundred pounds. It is okay to be strong and still be scared. People can cry and still be strong. To be strong is not just about having a hard exterior. Strength is being able to overcome the problems life will throws at humanity, and society needs true personal, mental, and spiritual strength to overcome it. Strength comes in many forms but, all kinds of strengths are good. Strength is having the capability to overcome any challenge that is faced in life. Strength is to never give up.

Everyone has their own definition of a strong person. A strong person to me is a person that can overcome the adversities in life positively. My friend Ivery, my dad, and my sister can be boldly described as a strong person in so many ways. In order to be characterized as a strong person you have to be stable-minded, courageous, and honest. Every strong person has their own character traits but there are some that stand out more than others. Some people may define people strong by their physical strengths. Others might say you are strong because you didn’t cry when you should have cried. Defining a strong person is based off of your perception of something. There are three people that demonstrate strong qualities as an individual.
