Describing oneself is always a confusing task, since a person does not know what qualities to bring up first, and it is a human nature to present oneself in a best possible way, even though the person can be not completely honest about some information. However, in this paper, I will do my best to describe myself as truthfully as it could be done. I was born in Belarus, a small country in the Eastern Europe. Although there are two official languages – Belarusian and Russian – in my country, I have to admit that expressing myself clearly in Russian is much easier for me than in Belarusian. Some people can argue about the quality of the books I have read for my favorite genres are detectives and novels. Nevertheless, not all of the books that I have read were pulp fiction. In the archive of the works that I have enjoyed reading can be placed manuscripts of some remarkable writers such as A. Pushkin, F. Dostoevsky, V. Bykaw, and many others. However, my favorite book of all times is Harry Potter fantasy novel, more precisely, the series of novels about Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling. These novels turned my perception about literature, since thanks to them, reading became one of my beloved interests. Reading Harry Potter series makes a person to look at one’s life from a different angle. For instance, by influence of these books, I have changed my understanding of friendship as I realized that true friends are rare and I need to appreciate people around me. Therefore, this is one of the reasons for me to encourage my kids in a future to read these bestsellers. Writing in Russian was always an easy task for me due my strange ability “to feel the language.” Sometimes I just felt how exactly is better to write and, thus, could perfectly write a paper not even knowing some rules. In contrast, writing in English was less “intuitive.” At school, everyone should learn English as a second language, so teachers were trying to push their students for better results, which occasionally resulted in losing any interest in studying new language. As for me, I was always interested in studying English, because without it is much harder to do anything outside the country, or, with the time, even in the country considering, nowadays, nearly all prestigious companies hire employees with a requirement of knowledge of English. In In this way, back in Belarus, my current level of English could be considered an advanced one. As for the United States, my English level is drastically different from the one in my country, so, after I moved to America, I had to start learning English afresh and believed that college is one of the ways to do so.
