Overall, I think that they both need my help; after all I am living with them. I would be a good mediator because I have three views of the situation. I have an outside overall view, and party one’s view as well as parties two view. I believe I have the skills to mediate between the two. The only thing that is negative about me acting as the third party is that I do have and interest in the conflict, because they are both my roommates. When it comes time to sign next year maybe each parties should sign earlier then the last day. They should not wait until last minute. Now, for some implications of this conflict and/or strategy for other conflicts includes my mediation goal. I think that where my mediation goal stands is building mutual understanding as well as shifting focus from past to the future. Lastly building a relationship and trust. If both parties can achieve these goals, I think that they both will have a better relationship. Overall, my final thoughts include I think this conflict is a perfect example what poor communication can lead too. People just don’t communicate like they use too and if we could find a way to fix this beforehand and work on everyone being an effective communicator than we might would have less issue. I really think that classes that deal with communication and conflict management should be established in the K-12 grades. Children and teens need to start out learning to express and effectively communicate because as we can see adults themselves cannot do
