Math and Science Correlation with space

I.Introduction
A. “It should be evident that each step in my career has rested on a firm foundation in mathematics. For me, the study of mathematics was the key that opened the doors to the universe.”(ROBERT L. STEWART, NASA Astronaut)
B. Math and Science are necessary for space exploration. The work NASA does demand increased focus on STEM in our education system.
C. In this section, we’ll discuss the importance of math and science correlated with space. The three main topics are:
1. Math Correlation with space
2. Science Correlation with space
3. Pros and Cons of STEM education
II. Math and space
A. Space exploration and many other technological discoveries have been made through the help of Mathematics.
a) Tools that NASA uses that are math based
• GPS o A global positioning system composed of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S Department of Defense o The GPS does not send data to transmitters the actually receive it o Once data is received, math does the rest to provide precise location
• Digitizing and coding of images o Defined as the process of transferring information into a digital format. o Information is arranged into separate units of data called bits o Bits are also stored into groups called bytes o Digital devices with computers capacity such as digital camera or television process that information and are able to convert it. o NASA is using digitization to have a clearer view of space, the planets, and the moon. They also using it to store archive pictures and information dating back from the 1960’s in a computerized system.
• "Slingshot" or "gravitational boosting" for optimal trajectories and Exploitation of Lagrange points for strategic...

E. Pros
1. Fill of jobs shortage due to unqualified employees, many industries are looking to fill thousands of jobs this will be possible with more stem degrees becomes available.
2. More interest from STEM students in space programs
3. Innovations, inventions and new ideas for the future
F. Cons
1. Other important non-STEM education such as literature and art are being marginalized
2. Many kids think they lack basic math skills and are uninterested in stem education
3. It could be more expensive to finance for STEM programs because of technology and material.
G. Math and Science plays a major part of every aspect of activities in the world it also plays an even bigger role in the world of stem, this is instrumental in expanding technical boundaries and for the development of new products in generating improvement for the space world.
Mathematics is used to pay bills and to cook to give a few examples. It is also used to figure out different formulas for space. Mathematics is used for computing

Although, like many projects, financial support is needed in order to provide the materials necessary for furthering our education. According to source C, only four cents of every dollar goes toward education, this needs to change. Space could help us solve challenges we face in our world today while overcoming unknown complications we may face in a new environment. Through space exploration we are putting money toward a "research and development, salaries, benefits, doctors, teachers, scientist’s… corporations and businesses both large and small. (Source A)" In fact, space satellites have inspired numerous scientists to find new ways to cut emissions while conserving energy, overall working to stop global warming and preserve the life of our world along with the human species. Funding is vital in order to expedite space exploration and provide our scientists with superior machines. Many do not realize this is not just a "silly research project,” it is a cause that not only benefit our generation, but many generations to
I also learned that mathematics was more than merely an intellectual activity: it was a necessary tool for getting a grip on all sorts of problems in science and engineering. Without mathematics there is no progress. However, mathematics could also show its nasty face during periods in which problems that seemed so simple at first sight refused to be solved for a long time. Every math student will recognize these periods of frustration and helplessness.
NASA’s research and innovation looked promising, but it came at a cost. Money, resources, and spacecraft accidents, most famously Apollo 13 all hindered NASA’s research. In the 21st century, the debate over funding for NASA is at its peak since the birth of the organization in 1958, especially when there are numerous problems throughout the world. Is the money spent on space exploration worth the advantages and advances it contributes to society? When considering this topic, one might ask themselves, why explore space?
Mathematics is everywhere we look, so many things we encounter in our everyday lives have some form of mathematics involved. Mathematics the language of understanding the natural world (Tony Chan, 2009) and is useful to understand the world around us. The Oxford Dictionary defines mathematics as ‘the science of space, number, quantity, and arrangement, whose methods, involve logical reasoning and use of symbolic notation, and which includes geometry, arithmetic, algebra, and analysis of mathematical operations or calculations (Soanes et al, Concise Oxford Dictionary,
The Global Positioning System consists of three sections, 1.satellites which are orbiting the planet, 2.there are numerous control/monitoring centers here on the ground, and 3. gps receivers which are used by their owners. The satellites send down signals from orbit, which are received by GPS receivers on the ground in the air or on the water, the GPS receiver then converts this information into a location longitude, latitude and altitude along with time.
Mathematics is part of our everyday life. Things you would not expect to involve math
Some students may not be able to receive financial aid or have any outside financial assistance.
What is math? If you had asked me that question at the beginning of the semester, then my answer would have been something like: “math is about numbers, letters, and equations.” Now, however, thirteen weeks later, I have come to realize a new definition of what math is. Math includes numbers, letters, and equations, but it is also so much more than that—math is a way of thinking, a method of solving problems and explaining arguments, a foundation upon which modern society is built, a structure that nature is patterned by…and math is everywhere.
I always feel the obligation in doing my best in many things in life. Accompanied by this outlook, I am pleased to say that I have had a good amount of success in my academic achievements. However, not every subject in school has not been easy for me. Math and Science have created many difficulties and challenges for me.
The information can be expressed through words, numbers, sounds, and images. By better understanding digital technology, we improve our control over such information.
Burton, D. (2011). The History of Mathematics: An Introduction. (Seventh Ed.) New York, NY. McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc.
The history of math has become an important study, from ancient to modern times it has been fundamental to advances in science, engineering, and philosophy. Mathematics started with counting. In Babylonia mathematics developed from 2000B.C. A place value notation system had evolved over a lengthy time with a number base of 60. Number problems were studied from at least 1700B.C. Systems of linear equations were studied in the context of solving number problems.
As mathematics has progressed, more and more relationships have ... ... middle of paper ... ... that fit those rules, which includes inventing additional rules and finding new connections between old rules. In conclusion, the nature of mathematics is very unique and as we have seen in can we applied everywhere in world. For example how do our street light work with mathematical instructions? Our daily life is full of mathematics, which also has many connections to nature.
