During nursing process, the communication can be defined as sharing of health-related information between a patient and a nurse, with both participants act as sources and receivers at the same time (Sheldon, 2004). The information may be verbal or nonverbalwritten or spoken, personal or impersonal, issue-specific, or even relationship-oriented. Receptiveness, assertiveness, empathy, clearness, attentiveness, honesty and non-judge mentality are essential factors to make an communication effective (Flinders University, n.d.). Cultural and linguistic diversity (CALD) people can be defined as English and non-English speaking people representing different backgrounds and communities from different cultures (Optus yes, 2015). The objective of this article is to elaborate on how nurses should be communicating effectively with their CALD clients, especially in relation to compassionate nursing care for Mrs Romano.

Non- verbal communication methods such as sitting next to the patient and making eye contact, maintain an easy postures also really important.
