The Industrial Revolution is a period that started around the 1750s, and is a period we are currently living in; it is seen today as one of the most dramatic and impactful eras in human-history. Thanks to Britain’s start-up of the period, we now have a society in which progress is culturally embedded as a necessity to survive. This was developed by the revolutionary inventions of the period, along with the strive for innovation from other international countries.

The steam engine increased productivity and efficiency by assisting individuals in their tasks with machine powered equipment. The system was then put into place in the majority of industries after seeing the beneficial consequences that came along with it. The steam engine revolutionized many industries once engineers started modifying the machines to perform specific tasks. These advancements in the system created a massive growth in the British economy by increasing annual iron production from 17,000 tons in 1740, to 260,000 tons in 1806. Once these countries started adopting these habits, they all start contributing to the ‘road’ towards progress which has led to the world we have today. Although the early stages of the Industrial Revolution were relatively slow and not as dramatic compared to other revolutions, it was one of the most impactful revolutions for today’s world. Over the years, humanity has had one motive as its priority; progress. The industrial era has affected our society today by culturally embedding progress as a necessity. If you take a look around you and try to identify goods that weren’t created with the help of the industrial revolution, there is a good chance of you not finding anything. We live in a world where if you’re not up to date with the latest technology, you will fail in the industry you are in; the world is moving forward, striving to learn the newest and best technology. This is why we are currently in a 2015 ‘Industrial Revolution’ of micro technology and electronics. We have the aspects of the 19th century technology but on a futuristic scale. The train and mass manufacturing are replaced by drones and mass manufacturing; it is essentially the same process but adapted to today’s progressed technology.
