The Industrial Revolution refers to the greatly increased output of machine-made goods that began in England in the middle 1700s. Before the Industrial Revolution, people made items by hand. Soon machines did the jobs that people didn’t want to do. This was a more efficient way of making goods. During the industrial revolution, Political, economical, and social forces led to a period of upheaval for the French during the eighteenth century. What political, economical, and social forces led to a period of upheaval though during this time?
In 1700, small farms covered England’s territory. Wealthy landowners started to buy the land that the village farmers had once worked on. These landowners improved the farming methods they were used to which soon led to an agricultural revolution. After buying up most of the land of the village farmers, their increase of landholdings enabled them to cultivate more crops on larger fields. Enclosures were inside of these larger fields. Enclosures were the areas that landowners could experiment with more productive harvesting methods and seeding in order to determine if these experiments boosted crop yield. The Enclosure movement had two important results. First, landowners tried new agricultural methods. Second, large landowners forced small farmers to become tenant farmers or to give up farming and move to the cities. Jethro Tull was one of the first scientific farmers. He created an invention that dug deep seed sized holes, which helped more seeds take root and boosted crop yields. He made this in 1701 and called it the Seed Drill. Why did the industrial Revolution begin England, and what inventions spurred industrialization?

Third, the railroads boosted England’s agricultural and fishing industries, which could transport their products to distant cities. Finally, by making travel easier, railroads encouraged country people to take distant city jobs. Also, railroads lured city dwellers to resorts in the countryside.
In conclusion, the industrial revolution brought many changes to Britain. The changes included the textile industry, the steam powered engines, which helped create steam-powered locomotives and steam boats. Because of this major improvement in the industrial revolution railroads began to sprout and was a more efficient way to transport goods and people across Britain. The Industrial Revolution no doubt brought rapid changes to people’s lives in Britain.
During the mid 18th century through the 19th century England started the Industrial Revolution. At the end of the industrial revolution there were more advantages than disadvantages, because the industrial revolution had to had cynical altercation in order for an increase in positive results. For example, the way goods were now manufacture. The goods were no longer produced in the household but in factories. England’s society had grown from agricultural to an industry dependent on manufacturing. Since the replacement of manual labor to manufacturing, the transformation of productivity and technical efficiency grew. For example, discipline managers would whip their workers if a task was not complete in the right format. The industrial revolution made people migrate from rural areas into urban communities in search of work which led to the expansion of cities.
Leading the charge upon the dawn of this revolution was the small island with a big name, Great Britain. Actually this "dawn" or prelude to the industrial revolution is known as the second agricultural revolution. To kick it off, there was a man by the name of Jethro Tull who invented the seed drill in 1701, allowing the planting of crops to occur exponentially faster than ever before. This was followed shortly after by the enclosure movement which sectioned off the many farms of England, allowing for another leap in efficiency introduced by Charles Townshend (in 1730) as the 4 crop rotation method. This efficiency did not arrive without a price however and with new technology, many farmers were no longer needed to work and even lost their land. The subsequent population boom and abundance of food as a result of second agricultural revolution caused crowding, yet still held an unspoken promise to let no man go hungry.
Later there was an inventor who produced the steam engine. This was small but powerful and can be used either on land transportation or in water transportation. With the invention of the steam machine and the invention of the railroads transporting and exchanging goods between cities and even countries were a lot easier and cities and countries received their goods a lot faster. The industrial revolution was an important event that helped shape the western part of the world
A growing population resulted in a greater demand for Great Britain. They were the first to start the Industrial revolution. With their invention of the steam engine transportation of goods and people boomed, railroad, canals, etc. which resulted in a new class system. Before people lived in small communities and their lives revolved around farming, but with the start of the revolution more people and laborers moved to the city which had become urban and industrialized. New banking techniques such as corporations, partnerships, credit, and stocks were invented. Everything used to be made in people’s homes using handmade tools, yet now everything is done in factories using mass production. The three major materials cotton, coal, and iron were the up and coming new products used during the industrial revolution. Cotton was used for the textile industry, coal for steam power, and iron for the new types of transportation. There was also an improvement in living standards for some, but the poor and working people had to deal with bad employment and living conditions. When the laborers moved to the cities clocks and
The “Agrarian Revolution” was the agriculture boost prior to the industrial revolution, and caused the industrial revolution due to it creating the large amount of excess raw goods, ranging from textiles and food to crops for the livestock to feed upon. This also allowed the huge population boost, since food was more plentiful and less expensive. This was generally caused by better agricultural practices around Europe, ranging from the use of dikes and dams by the Dutch, or the mixing of planting soil in Britain.
... lead to the success of this revolution. These three are a great answer of how was the process of industrialization and subsequent urbanization that began in England in the 18th Century a problem, progress, AND promise? After reading this Historical Analysis I hope you have learned why the Water Frame, Steam Engine and the Sewing Machine were great inventions of the Industrial Revolution.
The expanded railroad system enabled farmers to produce more crops because of the greater potential shipping locations that became available. It also made products such as corn and grain available to locations where the crop wasn't produced. It made things that used to be a luxury in some regions a common item to have. The increasing railroad was also beneficial to cities' economies that had tracks running through them. It helped the city import and export goods, which helped produce and ship better products in a timelier manner to a larger number of people and businesses.
...iling industry and the expansion of the west. The railroads helped these industries expand their territories which not only brought wealth to the large companies but, it also helped create jobs for many people. The railroad industry became an important gateway for immigrants because it introduced them to different opportunities of work and living. The railroad industry also helped to pour money into America’s economy. The railroad industry helped raise economic standards and change the way from an economy based on agriculture to an agriculture base on machinery. The railroads united America as a whole. It was the driving force of the industrial revolution that brought America together as a unity. The industrial revolution wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for the railroad industry that changed not only the people but, the country as a whole for the next fifty years.
The Industrial Revolution was a significant time for society because it allowed for new inventions to modernize the world. People were able to buy their goods from manufacturing companies, using advanced machinery without the task of hard labor. The Industrial Revolution also changed how warfare was conducted with their new inventions. The steam engine is one of the most effective inventions of the revolution. Before the Industrial Revolution, wars were more time-consuming in comparison to the new technological advances. For example, soldiers had to travel by foot or horse, but the new technology like the railroads made for easier transport. It also allowed for weaponry to be manufactured at a speedy pace in factories. These changes allowed
The industrial revolution of 17th and 18th centuries saw the transformation of Britain from a Neolithic nation into an industrious nation. However, this spread quickly throughout the world, introducing the modernisation of agriculture, revolution in power and manufacturing of textile.
The development of the industrialisation is outcome of the advancement of agriculture. Agriculture has played very important role in the development of human civilisation. Nearly 90 percent of the population lived in rural area during the 18th century. These rural families produced most of the food, clothing and other useful commodities. Talking about the advancement of agriculture, no other name comes to mind except of England. It is to be noted that farmers in England were among the most productive farmers of the world. The new methods of farming brought mass production in early 18th century leading to the Agricultural revolution. “In the early eighteenth century, Britain exported wheat, rising from 49,000 quarters in 1700 to a massive peak of 950,000 quarters in 1750” .The whole benefit of the Agricultural revolution was shared among aristocratic landholders. They were the only top authorities, as English throne was already overthrown by aristocratic class in 1688 during the Glorious Revolution. Landholders started enclosure movement to end the traditional rights of land and to gain full control over the benefits from agricult...
There is much discussion about how, or why, the Industrial Revolution started in Britain. I contribute this to three main attributes of Britain: the scientific and agricultural revolution, the cheap energy economy, and their social structure. One of the main reasons the industrial revolution worked out as well as it did was the scientific and agricultural revolutions that happened beforehand. Everything is the same, everything is standardized.
The increase in population meant that there were more people in surplus from agricultural jobs and they had to find work in industrial factories, which was the basis of the Industrial Revolution. One of the darker causes for the Industrial Revolution was the slave trade with overseas colonies at the time. For many merchants who saw the easy money to be made from the voyages, the merchants became extremely rich – and as it is in human nature – these rich merchants wanted to become even more rich, the seemingly best way to do this was to invest profits from the slave trade into the new factories that were arising, this is called “Commercial Revolution”. Britain was one of the few countries that was able to bring in profits from other countries and keep profits in their country, aiding them into being the first country to Revolutionise Industrially. The new invention of steam power was one of the great motives for the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, steam was used to power many of the machines, thus with the invention of steam power, the Industrial Revolution was powered onwards.
People needed faster and more reliable means of transporting the large number of products being produced from factories. Wooden sail boats became steam powered boiler ships made out of iron and steel that more effectively and reliably moved goods from one place to another while steam powered trains took the place of horses, carts, and wagons and made land travel swift and safe. Practical steam engines and new ways of travel had abrupt effects on employment, resulting in even more factories and mills, and centering even more on cities (“Industrial Revolution,” History.com). Communication improved as well, not just by people being able to travel from one place to the next more quickly. Telegraphs and eventually the telephone and radio resulted in handwritten letters no longer having to survive week long trips, but instead being relayed halfway around the globe in just minutes (Deane 72-74).
A major cause for the Industrial Revolution was the enormous spurt of population growth in England. The increase in population meant that there were more people in surplus from agricultural jobs, and they had to find work in industrial factories. Enclosure brought forth a great increase in farming production and profits. Farming was improved through the use of crop rotation, enclosures, and the division on farms across England. Crops that were grown consisted of turnips, barley, clover, wheat. This improvement in farming caused a population explosion, which soon led to a higher demand for goods. The new means of production demanded new kinds of skills, new regulation in work, and a large labor force. The goods produced met immediate consumer demand and also created new demands. In the long run, industrialization raised the standard of living and overcame the poverty that most Europeans, who lived d...
