As much as ideas are positive and helpful, not all had great effect throughout. During the Industrial Revolution amazing ideas and inventions were created to help out the society and make life easier, but not every idea had a good effect. The Industrial Revolution did bring positive outcome, however many of them were negative. Not every idea had positive outcomes, like pollution and child labor. These outcomes were one of the worsts and caused many issues in people's lives.
As the Industrial Revolution began, many factories were constructed and along with that, bad air to the environment. Pollution came about and filled up the entire sky with black smoke, as shown on document seven. While the factories produced not only materials but also pollution many people, especially factory workers, got sick and eventually died. Many factory workers got sick due to the enclosed areas that they worked in. Not only that many of the workers were surrounded by massive and dangerous

machinery. As shown in document four, there are many grown men in a room surrounded by dirty floors and machines, with hardly any windows. To continue, not only did adults work in terrible and dangerous areas, children did to. During the “factory era” children were used for labor that was tremendously dangerous. To think that factory owners would have the children in a safe and better environment, that would be a “too good to be true” thought. However, children were treated the same way like adults but probably worse. In document ten the picture states that a fat man is using the children as slaves, just to make money. Children were usually used to clean machinery which sometimes resulted in them getting caught or even die. However not every single act came out negative.
Many of the commoners hard work came out and created amazing items like clothes or cars. In document twelve Henry Ford the inventor of the car, created an incredible way to travel faster on land. The car revolutionized the world and since then better ideas came along to make the car more advanced. Another hard working group is in document nine. Document nine shows women working hard in a safe and clean environment while they made clothes for not only them, but the town and even the city.
Even Though the Industrial Revolution had mostly negative results, positive aspects came along the way. Without the Industrial Revolution many ideas like the car would not exist to this day. Not all good ideas have to have a great outcome but along the way improvements will be made and eventually all the problems will go away. As the world continues to improve the way of thinking will to. Until then this world will remand as a so called perfect “factory
era.”
The factory whistle blows right in the middle of your favorite dream. You wake up in a startle as you glance at the clock. 5:30 am. You rush to get out of bed, seeing that you have to get to work in 30 minutes. You splash some water on your face, brush your teeth, put on some fine factory clothes, pull your hair back, grab an apple and run as fast as a gazelle. The Industrial Revolution had both positive and negatives on the lives of adults and children during that time period.
The impact of the Industrial Revolution was a positive experience for some, but it was a great difficulty for others. Because of the demands for reform and protection for workers arose, government and unions began to take place. That was how the evils of the Industrial Revolution addressed in England in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The industrial revolution had mainly negative effects. The industrial revolution was a time in world history that has technically never ended. It is the time when society started to mass produce goods in order to provide enough goods for the booming population. People started to move from villages to cities where factories were looking for workers. New medical advances were made and people began to live longer. While some might argue that industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of the increased amount of new and cheaper products, it was actually a negative thing for society. Industrialization’s negative effects were the dangerous and sometimes lethal work areas, poor living conditions and cramped housing,
For example in document eight there is a passage written by Leon Faucher. The passage reads how Mr. T Ashton would employ one thousand five hundred women to work for him. He would decently cloth the younger women. He would give them a place to stay and make their rent seventy-five cents per week. He made so everyone would be clean and showed confort. Another example is in document nine. This image shows women in a sowing department working hard but also happy that they are doing their job. The picture in document twelve is considered positive, because a wealthy, nice looking man is standing in front of a beautiful car, this is what factory owners want the world to see. The reasoning for this is owners want people to buy the car so others in the world can feel the way he does. The positives of the industrial revolution impacted the way people live there life
The Industrial Revolution has brought a major transformation to the American society. New technologies and advancements changed the way Americans viewed their world. Gender issues, social class, immigration, relations with Native Americans, and slavery were either positively or negatively impacted by the revolution. Nevertheless, the United States’ huge step toward progress during the Industrial Revolution made a lasting impression in American society.
Introduction The industrial revolution took place between 1750 and 1850 all round the world. In this essay it describes the changes made in Middlesbrough in this period and how the managed to cope with the surge of people coming into Middlesbrough. Everything changed in Middlesbrough in the Industrial Revolution like mining, transport, agriculture and even technology. Population grew at great rate as there was plenty of work and cheap labour was readily available.
or not at all, seeing as there was no longer many other jobs and they
"Industrialization comes with pollution. Factories, automobiles and aircrafts produces unthinkable air pollution to some advanced cities in the world. Chemicals and wastes that were not properly disposed causes water and land pollution. The condition of the environment is at stake because of the industrialization" (Apecsec.org 2). Many of the fumes and filth that was pumped into the air caused many illness and deaths. Many people were unable to work because that became sick due to all the disgusting particles that filled the cities air. Midway through the Revolution machines started take the place of the workers because many of the workers were getting sick and dying; which led to even more poverty. “Some machines took the place of human labor resulting to high unemployment rate for those people who lack competencies and skills. Because of this, those who cannot look for a better job to earn for living were forced to commit crime just to support their families" (3). When the Industrial Revolution began, the terrible uncontrollable cycle of life also started, though no one saw it
The Industrial Revolution did a lot of harm on society and damage to the citizens of the working class. People’s lives were ruined and others were ended due to the fact that this was just generally hard on the people of this time. Citizens had it rough when this era was around and people who lived and survived in this time had a strong will to keep pushing and just work on. Not all jobs at this time were terrible, but speaking for the majority of the workers, it was a really hard time.
While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because of the child labor, unfair firing laws, and horrible living conditions, it was actually a positive thing for society. Industrialization’s positive effects were new inventions were being created and put into use; things such as housing, transportation, and jobs were more common for people; and people would live longer due to healthy foods being grown. There were both many positive and negative things that had happened during the Industrial Revolution. Overall, more positive effects came out of it.
For example, more industrialization meant more factories, and more factories led to more pollution. The waste produced by factories was expelled into the water as well as into the air, as described by Professor Michael Faraday (Document 1). Faraday was greatly affected by the contamination of the air and water that he observed because never before had anyone seen such filth in nature. In addition, Document 6 portrays the filth of the city from the factories. This filth was a curse to all people because they became more prone to disease due to the increase in contaminants in the air and the decrease of air quality. Furthermore, the Industrial Revolution also decreased the living standards of workers (OI: “Urbanization”). Poor families were forced to live in small tenements because they could not afford to live an extravagant life. These tenements lacked in many ways, including space and sanitation. Due to the packed conditions, diseases spread rapidly. Overall, the housing of the working class was unpleasant and many fell ill to diseases because the risk of developing a disease in a cramped environment was higher. In Document 2, it is evident that the tenements were not an ideal living space. Document 6 portrays that factories were ideally designed for the machines and not for the workers, and as a result the working conditions were also harsh. Working shifts were beyond the control of the workers and the job was not necessarily stable because workers could be fired at any time for any reason (OI: “Working Conditions”). Moreover, the working environment was cramped and caused many problems to arise, such as the death of workers. The working class suffered greatly from the consequences of the Industrial Revolution. However, they also experienced many improvements in life such as the decrease in
The Industrial Revolution was a time of great change in the world and changed the way many products were manufactured. Originating in England and Great Britain, its effects spread across the globe and influenced the way people lived and worked and lead to the modern world known today. While it did not always have positive effects, through imperialism, Britain’s Industrial Revolution brought about technological innovations that transformed the world and its economies.
The aims of this paper are to evaluate the effects the Industrial Revolution had on the wider world. This essay will be assessing the impact of technology and innovation on employment of the era, and how the factory system gave rise to socialism. In addition, it will be evaluating how the Industrial Revolution was the precursor to the phenomenon of consumerism and the resulting globalization.
Some of these jobs allowed people to become bankers, clerks, lawyers, and even managers. These jobs provided the workers with financial stability. This example shows the economic effects of the Industrial Revolution were positive because with higher paying jobs, workers would not have a reason to leave, providing the companies they work for with the continuation of their service. The continuation of their service would provide them with a continuing profit that would allow those in charge of the factories to expand their companies by marketing. Another important positive economic effect of the Industrial Revolution can be found in document #2. This document was created by Charles Knight who was a writer for the working class people in England, 1831. The document explains that houses and other buildings were better constructed, clothes and fabrics became more common, and traveling could be done 10 times faster by train. Charles explains that most people could afford these products allowed people to connect more and live safer lives in those better constructed buildings. This document demonstrates that the effects of the Industrial Revolution were positive economically because life became more convenient for those
Time has never told of a story that has stirred up more debate and controversy than the Industrial Revolution. The time period that explosively - and quite successfully - erupted in Great Britain with the help of a couple of brilliant minds and inventions influenced a greater change upon the entire world that has paved the way for modern times of the present days. Although the ideas, inventions, innovations, and lifestyles brought on by this event completely reshaped the way in which we interpret life, it did so in a highly controversial manner that sent tremors throughout the globe. The revolution, although respected by many as the stepping stone towards global human dominance and prosperity, was pretty much a burden upon those who actually
